Brian Goldner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hasbro, revealed today a temporary logo for Michael Bay's Transformers 4 along with some minor plot details as part of the UBS Best Of Americas 2012 Conference. TFW2005, reporting from the event (via Bleeding Cool) learned that, while Transformers: Dark of the Moon scored at the box office, it failed to sell as many toys as the company had hoped.

"This is why 'Transformers 4' will have a new cast of [robot] characters," Goldner explained, "and it will be a story revolving around these new characters."

This certainly matches comments made by Bay earlier this year that also seemed to hint that the fourth adventure may take the story into outer space.

Ehren Kruger is drafting the screenplay with a planned release date of June 27, 2014.

Next they'll sell plenty of toys and the movie will flop?

In an ideal world a prequel would be great showing the downfall of cybertron and the eventual war. Get rid of all the goofy human characters, supermodels, dogs and cringey jokes.

Flesh out the transformers into actual characters with personalities and motives.

For now we just have to be patient and ride it out till Bay is done playing with the robots and explosions in his toybox. Isn't he due to start butchering TMNT soon anyway?

This Ehren Kruger fellow's background is a critical nightmare with the exception of the Ring. Having said that, his movies have made money in the past, so that's why he continues to get work. It's like Roland Emmerich.... guy's flicks for the most part do very well, but boy do his films suck ass. The last time my friend had to pay me to see 2012 and he did! Ha! I still haven't seen 10,000 BC, and I will not see another one of Roland's POS films ever again.

So by new cast of robots does he mean existing characters while still having optimus and Bumblebee or just make up all new character ?

Since Bumblebee still sells Cameros, and Prime still sells backpacks, it's safe to say they will be in the movie.

Why do people like this character? He was hardly even around as "Hot Rod", got Optimus killed and then turned into a whiny, cry baby of a "leader" who lamented over having to make decisions.

We actually agree on this one. I think introducing his character into the films will be even more of a fail.
