Its the same thing! They're just using an updated truck model. I'm guessing the robot mode will probably be identical as well.
While I do like the original (cartoon-gen 1) designs, the movie designs were not too horrible. I just think the two styles need to meet somewhere in the middle.
(By the way, I believe some of the recent Transformers comic mythology accounts for why they are humanoids with traditional human features (eyes, noses, etc.) But it doesn't really matter since that's completely different story than the one in the movies or original cartoon.

I think I remember reading about it in the Dreamwave and IDW comics published somewhere between 2004-2006, before the first Bay film. But w/e, it doesn't really matter and I could be wrong about the timing. (I think it had something to do with the Transformer race and Humans both being created by Quintessons...which were not in the Bay movies.)
