What? How was Retaliation a failure? The Studio greenlit a sequel after the first weekend. It has made almost $360M on a budget of $130M. So why does it need the talentless Bay?

You're acting like Bay directing Joe would bring quality to the films. I'll take both Retaliation and Rises over any of the Spolsionbots any day.

And money does not equal quality. Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time, yet no one with any understanding of cinema would say it's better than the Godfather or Citizen Kane.

I'm guessing"soft" reboot. All new cast and redesigns, but taking place 4 years after TF3.

I also see Li BingBing is being now billed in this; is this the trend for movies wanting to capitalize on the Chinese market? Or does one of the studios have a contract to put her in x many movies for Chinese distribution rights? I think that her inclusion into these movies for secret Chinese scenes is interesting, but I can't find much on it.

Or does one of the studios have a contract to put her in x many movies for Chinese distribution rights? I think that her inclusion into these movies for secret Chinese scenes is interesting, but I can't find much on it.

I believe that China only allows a certain number of Hollywood films to be shown in theaters each year. The studios have figured out that if they shoot in China and/or cast Chinese actors, they have a better chance of being allowed in and raking in all that Chinese movie ticket revenue.

OK this actually looks pretty good. Unlike Optimus, the Bugatti and the Vette which all look like they came straight out of West Coast Customs. (Yes, the wheel flares are rough, but I think that's the look they're going for.)

The REAL transformers from the 80's arte going toshow up in all their boxy glory, and kill off the bionicle bots as their dopplegangers, thus rebooting it within the continuity, and being the new transformers for the future films

Design/aesthetics everything is going to be different from previous movies and previous (ie cartoon versions)series; Bay cited merchandising money, at least the guy is honest if nothing else. Apparently they want everything new so no one feels they "already own" a version.
