I knew he gets resurrected and it still affected me, good music and performance from Shia gets you caught up in the moment, plus him being impaled that way, I thought his actual death was more a shock and emotional than the 86 cartoon.

ohh man ! it was an intense scene.

saw the movie 3 times already ! going today and sunday.
friends just keep asking me to go with them.

The more I see the movie the better it gets.
PRIME ROCKS !!

-How did all of these Decepticons gets brought back to life (Blackout, Bonecrusher--seen during the desert fight, Scorponok fighting Jetfire)-- why couldn't they have jumpstarted Jazz with one of the cube pieces?

Well as far as Scorponok, didn't he just fade off into the desert after the attack, so he and Starscream were still around.

As for using the cube pieces, that's just bad writing and planning. In the first movie, I got the impression that the cube was useless when all that remained was the little chunk Optimus took out of Megatron, and I believe it was. They got to writing TF2 and decided to make it useful again, creating plotholes like you point out about Jazz. That sort of thing can be ignored a bit to just enjoy what's unfolding on screen, but it's a common problem with movies that have unplanned sequels, the writers dismiss previously established things for the sake of making a second story work.

No argument at all-- differing opinions (and respecting said differences in opinions) are what make this world (and subsequent board) interesting. I would have responded earlier but I crashed. Here's my take.

What I loved:

-Optimus Prime kicking some serious %$#@ in several scenes (especially after the horrific Shia duck and cover from the first movie when we had to follow this massive confrontation between Prime and Megatron from Sam's facial reactions)... 1) jumping from the plane and taking out Demolisher 2) taking on Megatron AND Starscream AND a seemingly resurrected Blackout (???)-- when Prime said after falling down "All right then, I'll take you all on" I got goosebumps 3) blowing half of Megatron's face off with his own gun and making short work of the all powerful the Fallen.

-The Starscream and Megatron interaction....Exactly what I wanted to see so badly in the first movie.

-Ravage and Soundwave-- yes I would have liked to have seen Soundwave on Earth (and without the Claw voice) but it was great seeing them on the screen, especially when Ravage unleashed his hip cannons (just like the two rockets the topy had that I always refused to lanuch cause then he'd be defenseless so I had them shoot bullets too).

-Sideswipe and Arcee-- I would have liked to have seen more but Sideswipe was an awesome character/design and as someone who isn't really a fan of the characters introduced in the '86 movie (Kup, Arcee, Hot Rod etc... well, except Ultra Magnus but I'll get to that in a second) I actually liked their design for Arcee. But was she one entity split into three sections or were there three Autobot ladies? (I think the blue one had a different name-- at least the toy package showed it as such)

-The soundtrack obviously.

-The Optimus/Ultra Magnus moment with him doning Jetfire's gear.

What I enjoyed:

-Megan Fox running in slow mo.

-Shia's acting. (I admit it-- I don't hate him.)

-Most of the comedic elements (Rainn... funny.)

-Devastator. (two balls...)

-The twins. (I didn't mind them as much as others--)

What I tolerated:

-Jetfire (I didn't like the re-incarnation of one of my favourites-- but at least they got the part about a former Decepticon who grew tired of the war switching sides.)

-John Turturo and the roommate-- They did there part and it would have been much worse if Jonah Hill had been cast as the roommate.

-The parents. The theatre I saw it in seemed to enjoy the comedic elements-- There weren't groans or silence (like when the G.I.Joe trailer played beforehand :monkey1)

What I disliked:

-Wheelie. A leg-humping robot. (nuff said)

-Not enough time with the robots (and the absence of Ratchet and Iron-Hide almost completely). Let the third be a trip to Cybertron (bring Sam and his tight-pants-cleavage-showing lady too if you want) where the impending assault of Unicron is about to take place. Make it something epic and get us away from following the storyline through the humans. We've been introduced to the robots now-- Spielberg, make it happen.

-How did all of these Decepticons gets brought back to life (Blackout, Bonecrusher--seen during the desert fight, Scorponok fighting Jetfire)-- why couldn't they have jumpstarted Jazz with one of the cube pieces?

I enjoyed the movie. My wife, a non-serious fan, who did enjoy the first one also enjoyed this one.

To each their own.

I just watched transformers at the theater with my wife and I totally agree with you on all the points you raised up. The other movie goers were wowing during the fight scenes and whistling every time Megan comes into the screen.

I really love the interaction btween Megatron and Starscream..that's vintage transformers. and Optimus Prime kick butts! The end part where optimus becomes bulkier and took on megatron and fallen reminds me of the japanese Transformers animation..was it Transformers armada? I cant recall...

What really disappointing is how the other autobots such as ratchet, Arcee, and others were rendered becoming more like a wallpaper. Arcee for example manage to utter a few lines before she was blasted off...that sucks man. Ratchet and ironhide for example were well established characters from the 1stmovie...such a waste.

Overall, the movie was great action wise, great comedic timing..but slightly poor in plot and some characters screen time.

Soundwave - They should have used the original voice. He could have said "Ravage, Rumble, Laserbeak eject and attack" and show them heading towards the base.

Using Ravage was fine the way they did it for the most part.

I hated it when they used him to puke up a bunch of little Transformers to break into the base. Very lame.

They used way too many little Decepticons (trying to be cute/silly) in this movie. Hated it.

They *should* have had Rumble do his thing and break into the place.

That would have rocked. Laserbeak could also have been there, shooting down everything too, helping him, along with Ravage, escape.

Now that would have been a much better way of doing it.

I was a bit suprised with Soundwave, the voice sounded very close in tonality to the original, just minus the effect, so it was almost like, why didn't you just make him sound exactly like the cartoon, it would have made more sense if he didn't sound anything close to the old show, but instead he sounded about 75% there and they just didn't go the last 25%.

Saw it last night. I was very impressed... and not just by Megan Fox who is just over the top smokin' hot...

Not sure if this part has been covered but according to my brother, who's a TF addict, Blackout was brought back at the same time as Megatron and this is shown in the IMAX version that is 15 minutes longer then the standard theatrical release. From what he told me the additional 15 minutes consists of showing Blackout raised from the ocean with Megatron as well as a longer fight sequence between Prime, Megatron, Starscream and Blackout in the forest. I have no clue if this is 100% accurate so if anyone has seen the IMAX version and can verify please do.

Also, was it just me or did the roomate remind anyone else of P!tu?

Yeah a little - didn't he yell out 'ay papa' at one point? Or something close. :lol

Oh, and SO sorry about not using the spoiler tag - I totally forgot! I just hope that anyone browsing this thread assumes by now that it's filled with spoilers!

Been trying to read the non spoiler stuff. I just failed. :rotfl

well, now it's even too late to change it because everyone's quoted it!!!... maybe we should change the title of the thread to include spoilers? (because really, I wasn't the only one, there were others before that, and I could have sworn that was mentioned already somewhere without a spoiler tag.)

But will I accept whatever punishment is needed in this case. :(

complete bad ass !

Okay, I've had over a two days to process this. I liked it.

The 6-year-old kid in me was floored by the amazing fight scenes and robot p0rn (NOT, mind you, the ACTUAL leg-humping robot). The entire movie plays out like a series of money shots with little-to-no foreplay. The special effects are simply the best in the business. This is pure ADD filmmaking for the YouTube age.

The "plot" is a convenient, disjointed and nearly nonexistent mess. Optimus Prime makes the movie, while the other heroes are given BRIEF glory moments (enough to encourage this 31-year-old to run out and buy toys). That's an essential problem with the film - characters are "introduced" and then simply disappear or merely flash on screen in the background later on. Yeah, we definitely get more robot dialog this time (though it's wasted on many nonessential characters), but most Transformers still feel like wallpaper.

The Twins are utterly pointless, but I think people jumping on the "racist" bandwagon have never hung out at a mall food court. These guys are misguided fools trying to emulate Earth youth culture, so having them mimic suburban wannabes doesn't seem offensive to me. In fact, it was oddly poetic when considering the audience around me at the midnight screening.

Awful toilet and sexual humor abound, though the theater was certainly in stitches. Alright, alright. I laughed quite a bit. Devastator is horribly misused, though, and the inclusion of robot testicles just shows how pathetically juvenile Bay's sense of humor is.

Yeah, yeah, it's a movie based on a toy line from the 80's. But I will adamantly defend the original 1986 film, which I would argue still holds up to this day with its entertaining story and lovable characters. Why did I collect the toys in the first place back in the 80s? Because I connected to their personalities. They are more than just "stuff that turns into stuff." Why do Bayformers cease to have identities when in vehicle mode? Why does John Turturro get more screen time than Bumblebee? Hell, why do the Twins get more moments than Bumblebee? :sigh: I would have traded in 90% of Megan Fox's breast jiggle shots for more (quality) Autobot or Decepticon emoting.

But, for me anyways, every facepalm was met with another amazing action shot. I could go on for hours about how incredible the robo eye candy is. Starscream and Megatron have some wonderful scenes together, illustrating their rivalry in a great nod to G1. Soundwave and Ravage are awesome (though they wasted Frank Welker's performance by neglecting to actually VOCODE Soundwave's voice! WTF?). Sideswipe is criminally underused after his breathtaking moment in the opening fight. Jetfire is crotchety and amusing. Hell, even Shia's Sam remains a fun, quirky character. Like that matters. Did I mention how utterly balls-out awesome Optimus Prime is in this?! The movie suffers when he's not on screen.

And, in true fanboy fashion, I will be lining up to see the film again this weekend, despite my issues with it. The IMAX version apparently has 2 MORE MINUTES of PRIME! Killing ^^^^! With blades! The 6-year-old wins. :rock

Thats a great paid job with a GTFO! price..still, the paint job on the blades is wrong..i think Magnuz got the detail right on his repaint.

You'd have to be pretty stupid to spend that much money on a custom like that, or at least very sheltered from the customs world. The base figure is like what, $40, I don't think it'd cost more than $200 to hire a custom artist to repaint it for you and all, you can have that work for much less than $700 that's for sure.

Man those repaints look awesome :rock :rock :rock

I saw the ROTF Bumblebee Deluxe action-figure at a local store today. I almost picked him up, to try to repaint it myself.
But I decided not to, because the chance of messing up is pretty big since I never done such thing before... Maybe I should have a try first on my old 1976 Camaro Bumblebee figure from the first movie...
