I'm also trying to spot something I can use as a Zoe vest.
It may be worth it to keep a list of compatible parts that work well with these characters. For example, I picked up the Hot Toys Wolverine shirt to work as Mal's shirt. The coloring seemed about right. I know several members are using boots from other figures (some repainted). It makes sense to try and be as close to accurate with the outfits when Trevor did such a great job with the heads.

Every time I look at this thread my jaw just drops. Unbelievable sculpts, just unbelievable!

Yes, Chad's is great. But the one you did is awesome too! I love you for it btw. Mal just looks so great! I really need boots for him though. Finding the right ones is impossible right now.

Unless you custom order boots, they will never be accurate, but there are lots of options out there.
I'm glad Mal and the gang wore so many different outfits, so we have some freedom.

You might give newlineminatures.com a look for those boots.They have a Japanese Officers Boot that looks good.

Thank you, but I should correct my post...finding boots when I'm out of work is near impossible. I do not want to pay quite that much.
I didn't find the ones you mentioned though. I may have missed them.

i don't know if this is in your price range, but for $35 you can buy the Sideshow Star Wars Rebel Fleet trooper at gohastings.com
You get a good pair of boots for Mal, pants for Jayne and a SSC Buck body. Then you also end up with a bunch of extra items that you might be able to resell.
EDIT: If you act fast, toyanxiety has the boots for $6 on their own! They only have 2 pair in stock.

I was thinking some combat style boots with gaiters covering the tops. I think I settled on a pair of Dragon boots w/gaiters that were about $2 from a seller.
Similar to these but with a darker gaiters (which I'll make even darker/weathered):

After looking at several phptos I think the Vietnam Jungle Boots are a good match. Check them out at:

I think those are very similar to what I ordered as well... I based it off of this pic which seemed like a good look for him. Jayne really looks a lot like a PMC.
