Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Hey all! Just a final heads up:

There is currently 1 Mal casting with a badly poured neck. If you're interested, I'll sell it at a reduced price, just drop me a line via PM. First come first serve.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

No sir, my hat is off to you. It's easy to buy the sculpts and clothes, but to sit down and craft this stuff up form scratch, that takes talent. To even attempt to sew a duster for Mal or a sculpt paint for Jayne is something I wouldn't attempt. I go out and find bits and pieces and bash together a figure. You create the figure from scratch. That's real talent. Congrats.

andy's stuff is great! i own a few various things he's made and they are terrific.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Alright...where in the heck are all of these Zoe vests and the Zoe heads?

I have waited long enough.....

Chad
SMcG

Hey Chad,
I'm posting my final Jayne and Zoe bashes tomorrow, but no heads yet. Josh still has my Jayne head and I just received my Mal and Zoe sculpts from Trevor and have not sent them out to be painted yet. Any word on the Jayne knit caps.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Awesome Grandpa. Can't wait to see them!

And Chad, you GOTTA find more material to make more Zoe vests! Any way we can help you find the material? What did you use last time??

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

OK, this ones for Chad. Thanks for all your help. With out you these figures would not be possible.

Zoes shirt, & vest, and Jaynes shirt are from SMcG. The guns and rigs as well as Jaynes knife are all from Stevo's. Bodies are both TT, broad shouilders for Jayne, and Cuban American for Zoe. Zoes boots and pants are from HT Sheva with the pants dyed. All the rest are bits and pieces picked off of eBay.

Now all I have to do is wait for the sculpt paints from Josh and my first 3 firefly figures are ready for display.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Nicely done Grandpa!

Can't wait to see all these with their proper heads!

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

My friend...both of those bashes are the best recreations of the character's outfits I have seen thus far...superb work! :rock Can't wait to see heads on those beauties.

I think I remember reading that Josh had your Jayne head (gonna look amazing!)? Who's painting Zoe?

I was going to wait to get my Mal head back, but I just bit the bullet and ported my Mal outfit over to a regular TT today. Huge pain but I convinced myself it was necessary. Plus, now my House bash has a narrow shoulder TT and doesn't look like he can bench 350 :lol

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

My contribution to Trevor's Firefly thread. The pictures don't nearly do the paint job justice because I suck as bad at taking pictures as I am good at painting. In fact, I really hate this damn pics, but I just can't seem to take any better ones.

Anyway, I've been busy with lots of commissions, so I haven't been able to get to painting my own heads yet, but I've really been wanting to see my own Jayne done since, next to River, he is my fave character. Not having him done was "starting to damage my calm."

Here he is:

Hey Marf, Thank you for those kind words of praise Yes, I do have my Jayne head at Small Studios right now, and I plan to have Josh do the other two as well. I had just about given up on having these figures in my lifetime, but now I'm so very close. It's hard to wait for things to get done, but Josh style perfection takes time.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Beautiful work Grandpa!!! Wow, Zoe is particularly awesome. I really hope I can find another way to get a vest for her.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Nice job SilentSurfer!

Particularly impressed with the stubble on Jayne's neck!

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

OMG what a difference the Sun makes in taking pictures, especially the way it the translucent paints I like to use react to it. They just don't look right under a florescent desk lamp light.

Here's a new pic, and I have to say the Sun made it turn out real 'shiny'!

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Glad I could do your sculpt proud, Trev. It means a lot that a master sculptor like you is impressed with the work I've added to his own. It's so great that you share the Browncoat love of Firefly. Can't wait to get to Mal and Zoe. Looking forward to the rest of the crew. :peace

I feel the exact same way, man! The dispartiy between how my paint jobs look to the human eye and the way they look through the macro lens of my digital camera is heartbreaking. Simply heartbreaking. Glad to see you found the direct sunlight trick! :peace
