And to clarify that I am not exaggerating about the emaciated thighs and knees, I give you this pic:D :

And whats wrong with that? It's called full range articulation. If you don't like the small gap in the cloths, but some cotton balls there, problem fixed. SS bodies are fine for clothed figures.

Actually, I have done just that. But as these pics of Triad bodies show, there is always room for improvement.

One thing I would like to complement Sideshow bodies on is how well they hold poses in their limb joints. It's always better for figure joints to be too tight than too loose.

i really don't see the point in using these for figures who are fully covered with clothing, like anakin or luke. as much as i love these triad bodies, i'm totally happy with the standard sideshow body if it's covered.:chew

Yeah, I have to agree... you will never pose 99% of the characters without their clothes anyway so whats the big deal. Yeah it may fix something on one or two figures (Luke's hips) but thats it. They do look great but I doubt iof they are any better than SSC bodies.

I think that maybe what they were going for...theres another pic of them faceing the camera and it really does look like Hayden & Natalie...

These two figures seem excellent for EpII Anakin, Jedi Padawan, and Padme on Geoneosis...

We also haven't seen what the Triad bodies look like when posed, other than just standing there.

I don't see what's so great about the Sideshow bodies other than the tight joints. They're not aesthetically pleasing (and NO I don't display my figures nude:rolleyes:), the shoulder joints are almost useless. You have to turn the ankles around to have the foot move to the side to "road-hug" in an action pose (and that's pretty hard to do when they have footwear on), you have to turn the abdomen backwards to get some movement out of that area besides bending backwards and turning side to side. The elbow joint is restricting. Heck a lot of the joints are restricting. The area around the neck joint likes to scrap the paint off the neck of the head sculpt if you're not too careful. The waist is useless. The wrists are damn ugly, but they do give some nice movement. It's hard to get a figure to look natural with these bodies.

Ok, I'm done with the Sith Lightning.

Actually if you go through that link that was provided you get a pretty nice pic of the Black Ultraviolet Outfit posed that looks pretty good.

I agree. The triad figures are incredible, but I'm not paying $50.00 for the SS Star Wars figure than dropping more money on a nude body that you won't even see.

I agree 100% with that rant :D That last point is especially true when you look at some of SSC's publicity pix where poses look a bit stilted compared (eg Aragorn) to something like Takara's Batman/Catwoman shots.

Shame that the Triad and SSC necks ain't compatible, though at least Triad heads will be able to look down ;) but I've still got a pretty full morgue of BBI 1.0 bodies to move any needy SSC folk onto.

Should I comment on this post or not? :monkey1

Well, if you were referring to my post then yes, please do reply to it. I would love to hear your obviously vastly superior knowledge of 12" figure bodies. It was only my humble opinion that since 99% of the figures SSC makes (at least for the Star Wars line) will be fully clothed so the new bodies really won't be any better than what they have all ready. But I see now that my opinion is wrong, and laughable, so please inform me as to how I am supposed to feel about them since I obviously can't have an opinion of my own.

It was noted in another forum that the Triad headsculpts' "eyes" can be posed as well, meaning turned to look in different directions. That is a huge plus on the ingenuity side. I read that the hair sculpts are swappable on some, meaning you can have a blonde or brunette headsculpt, for example. I believe that was how you accessed the "eyes" as well.

If true, then it's an amazing advancement in 12" figure design.

Yep, even though there are pictures with the bodies in more action oriented poses, Darth Callous has said that he sculpted the bodies to be more aesthetically pleasing at a slight cost to the range of articulation (that can be seen in the single jointed elbows). So I think there will be some limitation in the range of movement but not so much as to only allow boring poses. No matter how many pictures we see the only way to know how dexterous these are is to have them in hand.

Actually I believe they said they are holding off some of the jedi figures till they get a new female body... hopefully they have the non-exposed sections - they'll need it for figures like Aayla Secura, Arena Padme and Slave Leia.
They might be trying to make a new female body but like I said, we've been complaining about their basic male bodies before and the first new body they released with after that was the Big Boy body, which didn't improve on any of the problem areas that have been mentioned. The big boy body still has elbows that are bigger in thickness then the knees.

Triad has clearly demonstrated that you can make bodies that are articulated and still look aesthetically pleasing. There is no need to reduce articulation any further.

I just finished watching Underworld Evolution - and I noticed that Vampire Spike would make a pretty good Hybrid Speedman facially (would need to sand back and resculpt hair), whilst the Master would be a nice double for Vampiric Marcus - if the nude bodies were ok.....

Just two examples of where a decent nude body would help make a good figure - it helped that these figures were sitting on top of my TV at the time ;)

This info was posted either on MWD or OSW, Darth Callous said the hair pieces were temporary fixes since they didn't have the actual hair pieces ready for the WOH show. The figures will have multiple colored repositional eye pieces that can be switched out for different colors. They will also have two different hair pieces, one solid plastic and one rooted hair that can also be switched around.

The price on these basic nude bodies are $35 pre-ordered and $40 at retail.
Expensive but not a bad price for fairly revolutionary figures. I look forward to buying a couple of them.
