Just wanted to chime in that Dino your new sig :rock.

Um...to stay on track though...Tron Legacy :rock's too! :)

Thanks Chigger :hi5:

Wow, yes I am aware its a movie and well aware its sci-fi.

But there are some serious plot holes here and I was wondering if perhaps I missed something but since all I got was "its a movie" I'll just chalk it up to bad writing like I originally thought.

Also when is it determined they can regenerate missing limbs? Flynn had to find the defective code, remove it and fix it, she didn't just materialize it out of no where. If they could all regenerate, they wouldn't all be extinct.....

1) I don't see anybody saying it's just a movie
2) Flynn could not fully explain how the regeneration worked, he just kept saying it was a miracle. It was obvious from what Flynn was saying that normal programs were unable to be repaired like this.
3) The other ISOs died, yes, but I never said they could regenerate without help.

Well Obi Wan's end scene in a New Hope is very similar from LOTR Gandalf vs the Balrog.
When Luke finds Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen dead, that has clearly been taken from the Searchers
I find nothing wrong with seeing films that have used other films as an influence
The "David Bowie Wannabe" is played by Michael Sheen, one of the best actors around today.

:lecture I wanted to facepalm when I read that. Michael Sheen is the man, and he was awesome despite having a useless character.

When I saw Castor in the trailers, I thought I was going to hate the character, but in the context of the movie, I absolutely loved it!
Too bad Gem got derezzed with him...

I liked the film, but Castor was freaking lame.

Big time, hated his character. Waste of time and too corny. I actually was really nervous from the trailer that he was going to be the main villain. Thank God he wasn't! I loved that it was CLU and had no idea since I have stayed away from everything Tron since the first trailer. Great surprise!

Wow... so much hatred towards Castor...
not surprised, but I like it... it was like Bowie meets Ruby Rhod with a bit of Carey's The Riddler... I don't know, I thought it was an interesting crazy character... :dunno
I was curious about
the past history between him and Quorra though... I sort of assumed he was the one that helped her during the purge?

Dino Last I was referring to this.

That's like asking how exactly a physical object can de-materialize, then re-materialize in a digital world. You just have to accept the fact that in the movie, the technology to do that exists.

Also, it's science fiction. And it's a movie.

As for the ISOs I was pretty sure Flynn was referring to them as a miracle because nothing created them not because he could fix them. CLU reprogramming Tron and everyother progrem is essentially regenerating them no?

Hey, unless you specifically see a character die then they aren't dead.

And especially in a computer world you could just get a way with saying--it's a copy

Well I will probably go watch it again. I know there are some scenes that might help me explain better, but I can't quite remember how they are worded. Anyway a lot of good movies have plot holes, so I would never say that you are wrong in that respect

It just hit me how Quorra materialized. CLU needed Flynns disc to materialize him and his army through the portal. Flynn gave Quorra his disc = Boom.

Because if programs could just materialize in the real world there would of been no point for CLU to continue hunting Flynn once Sam arrived. He could of just took his army to the portal and left the Flynns in the grid

For me there are a couple problems with Castor.

1) He was WAY over the top. I thought part of his personality was funny and ok. But it was milked way too much. Too many shots of him being goofy. 1 or 2 less shots of him dancing or twirling would have helped.

2) I have a problem with him basically being Bib Fortuna AND Jabba the Hutt at the same time. He's like, "let me take you to Zeus...never mind, I am Zeus...hehehe, fooled you didn't I!"

I can see it working for Yoda, because it was so unexpected. It was also used as a ploy to show Luke's impatience.

There was really no point (for the audience) to have Castor play Zeus secretly.

I think since Castor helped ISO's in the past, he wants to keep his identity secret...

I love Castor. He was way past over the top. We dont get those guys any more. Classic 80's character.

The thing is, nothing else in the world matched that. If there was more 'over the top' acting and more 'hamming it up' (instead of lame, boring acting trying to make this a serious movie), it may have worked. But it just didn't work. It's not just me "hating" - I really really wanted to like this movie! Perhaps they picked the wrong actor or whatever... or maybe he actually WAS the best part of of the whole thing, and just the fact that no one else bothered to perform up to that level made him stick out like a sore thumb... either way, the scene was just uselessly annoying as-is and made people all around me groan audibly. It felt like simply a way to show Daft Punk.

And are you guys seriously telling me that CLU's grand plan was to bring his army up ONE-BY-ONE through the portal, since each one would have to use Flynn's identity disc? And how was he planning on getting the disc back and forth through the portal? And what was his plan once he got 100,000 programs into Flynn's office? I felt absolutely NO THREAT whatsoever, and that is the real problem.

Hmm. You have something there, but the only real threat in the original Tron was that good ole' Flynn may never get the recognition he deserved for inventing a few video games. So I don't think the threat issue is everything, but its definately something.

How was there no threat? 100,000 combatants with laser sticks and a GIGANITIC ship....that would be ____ing scary.

As far as the End of Line club, that scene was amazing. Derezzed, the fight...brilliant. So i'll have to disagree.

And as far as Castor himself, him being different from everyone was the point. He tried to reinvent himself to hide the fact he's Zuse. Or maybe he was a Program written by a gay bar owner....who knows....he was just a classic 80's character to me. :dunno

the big threat i could imagine would be that CLU looks like FLYNN Sr, could take ENCOM over again and proceed with his plans from there, CLU after all was created by FLYNN Sr in his own image, so i'm guessing what FLYNN know CLU also knows and would use it to keep creating the perfect "system" or living environment (or maybe CLU going rouge is how skynet is really born, i don't know)

if you didn't like the film, overexplaining every minor detail won't help, it may just make it worse and make you hate the film more
