Aside from having creatures called vampires that bite necks and drink blood, there is nothing remotely similar about Buffy/Angel and True Blood.

Hmmm - Buffy was a strong female lead, with special abilities that set her apart and mader her lonely and isolated from her peers. She falls in love with a brooding dark haired vampire. Oh, and there's a blonde vampre who's more of the smartass, self serving type that she has an on going love/hate relationship with. The blonde vamp butts heads with the dark haired vamp over her on a regular basis. Nope, doesn't sound anything like True Blood. :D

Stop clouding the issue with facts.

And various other monsters/demons inhabit the world including a shapeshifter who happens to be her friend. And she has a best friend with an inferiority complex.

Lets be fair guys, the first novel was published well after Buffy had been established. I'm not saying she took the ideas but you guys have pointed out a lot of similarities.

But there is no Kung Fu in True Blood!! :lecture

Jason did the karate chops to the air, does that count?

And yea, if Buffy would had flashed a bewb every now and then, that show might have been good!!

I love watching the Whedonites get all flustered because ties to their beloved Joss dwindle by the day. I loved Buffy, loved Angel, loved Firefly, kind of meh about Dollhouse but even Joss Whedon's stories and properties all follow archetypes previously used in dozens of properties with shifts and changes to suit the desired outcome. Its really the dialogue and flow of character relationships that made him standout. For True Blood its the tits. :lol

Not to mention in a perfect world you'd get a mix of both. I'll take Boraneaz and Gellar over Moyer and Paquin anyday but would easily toss Xander and Spike to the wayside in exchange for Jason and Eric.

The sad part is once you get a hit vampire show you get a bunch of things afterward like the upcoming Vampire Diaries on the CW which appears to be a TV Twilight.

Its actually of set of novels that are already established although fans of the books have said that the producers of the show are blantantly ripping off the look of Twilight instead of following what they have established unofficially though the books. I've also read early reviews that it sucks.

So far I'm not impressed with Evan Rachel Wood but the show isn't all the way over yet.

Yea, her acting fell flat, Bill wasn't helping. She had some good lines though.

Can't get enough of Jason Sam and Andy, Love that Andy was stuck with the 2 guys he investiagted for murder, and now there pretty much the only 2 who aren't insane.

One more, the season finale but its not on for 2 weeks. This episode was flat, not very interesting but the finale looks to make up for it.

This was definitely the calm before the storm, but there was still a lot of good stuff going on: Jason walking into a tree. Eric flying. Eric in a dress. The conversation between Hoyt and his mom. The weirdness going on at Sookie's house. Poor Lafayette. The egg?

I actually liked the scenes between Bill and the Queen. It showed how time means nothing to her and every minute that passed was agony to Bill. I also think it showed just how bored she is with everything (even though she still enjoys Yatzee).

And what was with the extreme face acting between Tara and her mother? I thought they both were having seizures at one point.

The 'Calm before the storm' is exactly how I would describe this episode.

The Jason and Andy stuff again was pure gold, the Eric stuff was awesome as usual, Hoyt and Jessica was unfortunate :( and yeah that egg was weird.

I don't think the Queen is bored at all, she seems to enjoy all of lifes pleasures.

Yeah, you're probably right. I guess if time means nothing to you, it wouldn't matter.

I thought her "day" room was a bit weird too. It was funny how the bird sounds in the background were on a loop with no variation.
