Same guy from the earlier episode at the school?

Did he have a beard then?

Yes, he was mowing the grounds at the Light of the Way School in eposode 1.

You know what I was wondering? Does it seem to anyone here that it appears that Marty and Maggie came into some money? They lived in a modest house while together but since their split...Marty has his own business, drives a Cadillac, has a boat and Maggie lives in a pretty nice house from the looks of it. My neighbor pointed it out to me, and I have to agree. Are we crazy?

To me, this was the creepiest episode yet... The tape, the microwave scene, music box playing at the end, old black lady telling her story... Lots of goosebump moments for me.

Hart and Chole fully committed to seeing this to the end once they pulled guns on the sheriff. I think Chole would be fine if he gave his life in the process and that is why I still think Hart will be the one to fall.

We still need to find out about Harts daughter and it seemed like tonight's scene in the storage shed would have been a good time to learn about that. I wonder how they will fit it in next week? There is only 60 min of True Detective left and I feel that they could easily get several more episodes out of the thing. True Detective has raised the bar for television just like The Wire did. I will be critical of other good shows because they won't be matching the same intensity and quality! Ugh!

The only good thing about TD ending is that GoT will be starting.

I took it as Maggie had gotten remarried. She had a ring on her finger. And Hart had mentioned that his hobby was fishing so he is just spending his money that way instead of a nice house. We got a glimpse of his house while he ate his TV dinner and it was nothing special.

Yes...April 6th! However I do watch Hannibal which is pretty damn good, too.

Yeah, it was sad to see Marty on Match.com and eating a microwave meal. He may not be directly involved but something is not right *imo* with Maggie/Marty.

I like that the show is pretty straightforward, all the symbolism is cool and all but its mainly a great characters study and cop show.
I hope the masked mother****ers will get the same treatment as those drug dealers.
Man that vidéo was creepy, very THE KILL LIST (Check it out if you havent seen it).
I like that Cohle and Rust are on the hunt again and ready to do whats needed (the sherif).

Olbert bud! You and I think alike. Yes, Wheatley's KILL LIST was all I could think about after the reveal of the videotape. Holy ****! The creepiest, most unnverving episode yet and we've still got one to go.

2 days to go so I'll make my final predictions.

I still think The Yellow King is Maggie's father. He lives on the shore and is wealthy. It's also "right under Marty's nose".

Tuttles, Childress etc, are all his pawns/lightning rods to distract attention.

However he has no son, so the crown would fall to Maggie. She's also in on most of it, at least since she ****ed Rust. This successfully ended the partnership with Marty and the investigation.

And thusly when Maggie is gone, the crown would pass to her daughter Audrey. This explains her dolls, her drawings, and the fact that she had that crown she threw up in the tree that even had streamers on it like the crowns the girls wear in rape video. She was never sexually abused, she's simply being taught what her future is.

How Marty will react to this I have no idea. I suspect however that after the revelation, Marty may very well lose it and murder his ex-wife unwittingly making his daughter the one who now continues this horrible tradation. Rust I still think will be killed by the cult. I doubt it will be suicide, his line about contemplating Jesus and the crucifixion makes me think his death will serve a greater purpose like either trying to save Marty or allowing his corpse to be evidence to convice the cult etc.

All of this also explains the dissapearance of just one boy. All the girls missing makes sense since they are needed for the sexual ritual. So why one boy? A sexual ritual for Maggie?

A lot of people are saying that. :lol

Because of that second bold-ed part.

I hope the characters and their family Will not be a the core of the conspiracy.
I think there is nothing more to it than to find the *******s from the video.
The creator of the séries said to not expect any twist or big revelation in the finale.
The detectives know whats going on, Time to close the book.

Yeah if there ended up being a big twist it would become the gimmick that the show has to live up to in every season. Better to just make the show a straight forward enough detective series with some great character studies etc.

Ok but you realise that eight people are in that video right? Five in animal masks approaching the girl at the alter, she's being held down by two more men, one on each side, and the camera operator makes eight. The "Spagetti Monster" Errol is one of the men, likely one holding her down based on the stories of other girls about how the one with scars didn't have a mask and made them watch. Rev.Tuttle was another since he had the tape and pics. That leaves six people directly and definately involved and unaccounted for. If Reggie was one, Five. I don't think it would be a twist at all to find out Maggie's father has involvement and if he does then his family(Maggie) would by no means be a stretch. We know very well that the families keep this thing going.

That would be lame in my book.
I just hate it when in cop shows they end up mixing the case with the characters personal story. It killed law and order for me.
The family of one of our main character being part of the case would be a big revelation twist to me.
The creator said that everything was in the first episode so far he didnt lie, about the cult and all.
He came forward when all those supernatural theories came out, just to set the record straight so that people would not be disapointed when the show did not go that way, he's doing the same about the ending.
Now i hope we dont get an open ending with some guys getting away, but some swift justice closing the case neatly.
Doubt it but who knows.

The thing about it being Maggie's father is I just don't see where the ground work's been done for that (for him personally as a character, I mean). He's appeared in what, one scene? I don't how that's satisfying at all. Oh, surprise, it was your father-in-law all along, Marty! It's as random as it being a stranger, IMO, since the father-in-law has no development or interaction on camera throughout the series. I still think it's a possibility, due to circumstances with Marty's daughter, but I hope it's something different. Fantastic show, regardless, and I won't let it bother me too much if that's what ends up happening.

I've made a few theories in discussions with friends and have only been close one or two times. There is no doubt in my mind that Maggie is involved somehow. I just don't know in what capacity.

I'm done making any more bold predictions and am just going to enjoy the finale for what it is. I don't see how I will walk away being disappointed with it because of how amazing the first 7 episodes have been. But I will be watching the first episode again just to refresh my memory.

I really don't think any twists are needed here. The show has been good enough without them. Heck the mystery hasn't even been my favourite thing about it, moreso the Rust and Marty relationship and seeing Marty's family life collapse.
