Yesss... I was originally planning to get just a few "staple" species, or at least sell off the pieces I didn't care for as much. And yet, you do get attached to them, and they do look amazing in a group. Ever since the Carnegie Collection abandoned 1:40 scale, this 1:72 collection is hard to beat.

I do want that Tenontosaurus at some point, as well. It's just awesome.

Heh heh.. I'm actually a bit partial to the Acro but I wish it was a larger piece.

I'm getting this terrible yearning for an Acrocanthosaurus for some reason..no toy really does it justice....at the moment I'm torn between Galileo's BEAST of an Acro and Creative Beast's version which is great if only slightly smaller than I would like.

Problem is as soon as I drop the money on it Sideshow will prob make one. Same problem I have with other dino models I look at now. I was right..on..the..verge.. of getting Shane's Tylo built and painted and all then I recalled Sideshow did mention maybe doing a marine reptile.. so I'm really screwed until this line is finished or get more money/space... lol

So it would be cruel of me to tell you that Shane is also working on a 1:15 Allosaurus right now? I may have already mentioned it, though.

No....I think... I would have...recalled that.. grrrrrr !!!

He didn't bother to mention it either when I spoke to him last week regarding the 1/1 Velociraptor and Psittacosaurus...argh.

I don't know how yet..but your going to pay... mark well me words matey.. ;)

Sorry to break into the conversation, but what did Shane say regarding the Velociraptor and Psittacosaurus? I've been hoping to see new pics of both in a more finished form.

No problem.. ;D

Here's what he told me :

Yeah hi Chris , the Velociraptor is still in very slow progress , i work on it about every 4 months because of all the other work i have , but the Psittacosaurus is comming along nice and it will be done by the end of February and then off to the mold makers. It will be a very expensive mold to make so once i have it finished then i will have to wait till i have enough money put together to paid to have it molded. I will take preorders for it soon to help pay for the mold work to be done faster. Those who preorder get thier castings before everyone else. check back with me soon. thanks.

Now to get back to planning Dan's down fall... heh heh

A 1:1 Velociraptor could easily fall within the Apatosaurus price range, I would think.

When I spoke with him today, he was all done with the Torosaurus and baby, and was sending it off to be cast! He was also finishing another piece I never knew about. It is a diorama featuring a Tarbosaurus hunting a lil' hadrosaur baby, which cowers behind a fallen tree. :monkey2

For kits of the Velociraptor I would have to agree...built and paint I'm not sure. Studio Oxmox was also supposed to be doing one but I have yet to see it...along with the 1/4 Liopluerodon and T-Rex .

I found out a Psittacosaurus adult is 5 feet on average..so a 4' piece would be sub adult I guess. For a kit I imagine the same or more than the juvenile Stegosaurus.

Tarbo piece sounds neat... I love a good story in my artwork. ;)

Against my better judgment..when can we expect to see this Allosaurus ?

Q2 2011 for the Allosaurus. No I'm kidding, I have no idea. He gets to make up his own schedule.

I'm interested to see how this Psittacosaurus is coming, especially the tail quills. I don't know if they'll be resin, but certainly a separate component like the Triceratops quills were.

If only I had the money, time, and skills to purchase and build a resin kit.... :(

Buying the kit isn't so bad..if you have the right skills it can be enjoyable to build. Me I can buy a kit, but paying someone to build it usually costs as much as the kit or up to twice as much even.

I got this response from Shane today since I had to ask about the Allo :

Yes Chris the allosaur is 26" long and ready for final fleshing so its coming along nicely, i have 4 other sculpts im doing so i cant say when it will be done but for sure it will be ready by May if not sooner. The Psittaco is a sub-adult so its 38"long and 16"tall on all fours. email me in about 1 week again and ill give you in progress shots of both.
the Tarbosaur kit is being molded now and is a 140th scale piece and should retail for about 65$ or so and im taking preorders for that now. i have 3 preorders so far. thanks for checking in.

So the sub adult Psittaco is 3'2" ..not bad. It's sort of larger than the juvenile Stego..so I guess it could be more but I would guess it will be in the 4-500.00 range...but it should be smaller in over all mass and that counts..so I guess we'll have to see.

Good to hear the Torosaurus and baby are finished. That Tarbosaurus/Hadrosaur dio sounds interesting. Hopefully it sucks big time, that way I won't want it. lol

Btw, Shane just emailed me back some info on the Psittacosaurus. It will be 38" long and 16" tall. I'm sure those measurements will vary a little, as he is still in the sculpting process. He said not to quote him on the price, but 350 to 400 range for the kit. Double that price to have it built up and painted. ;)

Okay, just so we're clear: What are the dimensions of the Psittacosaurus? :lol

I've never seen him release a kit for less than $100, so that sounds like a great deal for the 1:40 Tarbo diorama. I am stoked to see how the Allo comes out, though.

At least we know for sure now.. ;)

Dang a I need a better job..and a bigger house..what the hell, might a well " I need to win the lottery "...heh

That looks very nice. I'd have to say though, Sideshow has quenched my Spinosaurus cravings for now. ;)

I would like to aquire CMStudio's Suchomimus, as I think it could be a nice companion to Sideshow's Spinosaurus. :D

And on the subject of spinosaurids, did I mention the new Baryonyx?

Shane is doing a sort of "commemorative" Baryonyx in memory of the original he crafted years ago. It will be disemboweling a fish, pulling out a long string of muscle from the body. Yummy.

I almost bought his Sucho myself once...til what Garret did with his copy :

Man I want him to customize me one..

I have my scientific Spino needs met for sure right now..my favorite movie ones though...heh heh are another matter. ;)

I'll have to see it first..but that's pretty much what ALL Spinosaurs are shown doing..lol

Martin's buildup looks great, but I like the original pose. Who knows how much it would cost to make the changes, plus add the fact that it'd be coming from overseas.:thud: These are the reasons i've been hesitant about getting something done by him. It would suck to spend a fortune on getting a kit done by him, only to have customs mistake it for a bomb. :cuss
