So yesterday as I'm settling in to watch (on a DVD I purchased) "No Country for Old Men" the first thing that comes on is a anti-smoking TV commercial!

WTF, when did they start selling television advertising space to DVDs. I'm already about bored stiff by the endless coke commercials and other crap you have to see in theaters anymore, but a TV ad on a movie purchased at retail for home viewing?!?! Thats just a load of crap!

I agree!! :cuss :cuss :cuss THE *******S!!!!! Thankfully we can atleast skip over them.....until they change that and make it like those warnings where all you can do is fast forward and not skip. :monkey4 You would think they would be making enough $$ with the sales of the DVDs.....greedy *******s!

You want to know what's f'n wierd....and maybe they are doing it other places as well...whenever we have a full moon (or a moon almost full) they project advertisements (like a billboard) onto it. That is just BLOODY F'N WRONG!!! I want to look at the pretty moon not some picture of a Starbucks coffee mug. :monkey4:monkey4

also, I THINK the smoking ads are now required to be attached to movies with excessive smoking in them ...

You mean that ++++ is true? I saw a billboard for Rolling Rock 'Moonvertising' and thought it was a joke!

Press the Menu or Fast Forward button. Your welcome.

Thank you captain obvious :lol Still annoys me just on the principle of it. I had wondered if because people are smoking that they added it... but still, if I buy a movie I don't appreciate getting some lame commercial attached to it.

They have done it twice now.....hopefully it will be VERY short lived.....and maybe it was a joke....I just know that I about gagged when I saw it and was like WTF. Haven't seen the Rolling Rock billboard......wonder if what I saw is a play off of that?

++++ the Man!!!! Like Lonnie said its only a matter of time before they are shooting commercials into our brains:monkey4

How is that even possible:confused:

I'm in favor of doing this, IF, and I really stress IF it helps to keep costs down. Perhaps if production companies and retailers see $$$ from the advertisers, it'll compensate enough that markup and starting costs aren't insane. Knowing the world, however, it'll never work that way and it'll just be extra $$$ on top of raping the consumers with the base price.
