Ha ha Woodsy very good, but really, don't let me hold you back and besides, you'll save me the banter!! :D Of course there will be times when I can't help but join in in defense or attack about something but I have to say I have been in agreement with you on this bust for some time now. I'm really looking forward to it! Wonder what the ES will be on it, we still don't know which is a fair while now since its announcement, just shows that SS really must pay close attention to this board and its feedback, maybe they are having second thoughts on their original ES whatever that may have been, who knows.

Your guess is as good as mine. As of this Friday the bust will have been available for pre-order for 7 weeks. I can't ever recall a LOTR item going that long without an ES being set. I think you can say with 100% certainly SS is well aware of all the neg. feedback they've gotten for this bust and though I'd love for them to announce they're heading back to the drawing board with it to address the numerous concerns collectors have [I know I'm dreaming], I suspect they will simply adjust the ES accordingly.

I think it's a pretty safe bet the ES would have been somewhere in the 1000 range based on the price and the 2 busts per person limit, but with the overwhelming neg. response so far I think 500 is a bit more realistic. Honestly, the only reason I am holding onto my SS pre-order right now is to see what the ES will be, just in case SS decides to place a really low ES on it and announce the ES at the same time they announce it's sold out, which they have done before. I have a feeling this bust will be readily available for 40-50% off retail price once it becomes available and I really don't see any reason for buying it directly from SS. Now if they were to announce an excl. edition that featured a proper base that would be a different story altogether :D

Finally, took sideshow long enough :lol. On a side note I noticed the Balrog LSB is coming into the warehouse in the next 30 days.

I cancelled mine quite a while ago, but I'll definitely be picking one up down the road. I got my CT, ML, and Sauron LSB's for an average $90 apiece cheaper than retail by purchasing elsewhere. I can't see this bust being any different. There's just no upside to ordering this from SS esp. since it's going to be sitting in their warehouse for the next several years. An awesome looking bust, but pricey and way too high an ES.

I also canceled the balrog b/c I had other things coming like the GTW PF and couldn't fit it in the budget. I will also pick it up down the road since like you said with the high ES it will definitely go for at least $100 cheaper.

Production blog has been posted for the Witch King

When recreating a film character in three dimensions that has little on-screen time, the intricacies of the makeup and costuming are often missed by simple screen grabs. In The Fellowship of the Ring, the appearance of the Twilight Witch-King lasts only a few seconds and is limited to an angled and stylized depiction. Freeze frames of the scene miss the great detail and true essence of the character. During the development process for our new Twilight Witch-King Legendary Scale Bust, Sideshow’s artists and designers referenced both screen grabs and images taken directly from the film set to create a well-rounded depiction of the character in the final product.

Sounds like justification for why it looks the way it looks. Bottom line is how do people want to see it and from the response here on the forum, it appears that most don't like it and prefer the Weta versions whether they are true representations or not. May I also add, the Weta versions are different enough from the Sideshow version which makes me wonder why were they (Weta statue and bust) designed the way they were? After all, aren't they they ones that designed the Witchking in Trueform and therefore should know how he's supposed to look?

That being said, I still really like this bust and look forward to adding it to my collection. Time will tell whether these show up back on shelves but for the time being, it is sold out so I can't be the only one that likes it.

Justification or not, I'm just glad they've finally provided us with the reference material...and yes from those photo's this is an accurate portrayal of the WK. The folks at SS must really be shaking their head's over this one....this must be the first time they've ever had people complain because they prefer an inaccurate version [Weta's] of a character over one that is more movie accurate :lol

Oops! Sorry Wrath, I did it again :D And yes, posing the two together will make for an amazing display :monkey5

I just reread my FOTR issue of Cinefex, which features a much better picture of the Witchking actor in front of a blue screen than the one in the production blog. And, wouldn't you know it, he looks very much like the SS/W statue and bust, and not far from the upcoming GG light-up bust.

On the other hand, he looks nothing like the SS bust. I don't have a scanner with me, but all you effects aficionados ought to be able to browse your collection of Cinefex back issues and see what I'm talking about...

I have mine :wave, and as I said even the PB pics aren't very flattering I'm afraid.

Well thankfully we don't have to go to all that trouble. Now all we have to do is go to the SS website and click on the latest production blog. :D

And for good measure my own contribution.

Wow, this sure looks like SS's WK in these official production photo's, and it looks nothing like Weta's :rotfl I just can't figure out how Weta screwed this up so badly
