Serra has a future plain and simple Hughes doesn't. In his post fight interview he says it will be interesting to see who wins th GSP vs. Alves fight, like he has a chance at either of those dudes. Serra should drop down to LW and really add some spice to that weight class. Hughes should retire. bye bye hughes.

:lol this is funny. I don't like either guy, so this is 100% unbiased: Hughes and Serra have the same chance at success in the WW division. And Serra has an even lesser chance at success in the LW division. I highly doubt either will hold a title again. And the biggest difference in that statement is: Hughes actually won and defended his championship and was a dominant fighter. Serra got a title shot off a reality show, and after he won the title he got destroyed in the rematch and now he's lost to Hughes who's not even relevant in the WW division. WW and LW = FILLED with Wrestlers. And unlike Hughes, wrestlers who CAN punch with KO Power. You saw how Serra was controlled on the ground? Expect more of the same. Not much of a "future" imo.

Hughes shot in on Serra on pressed him up against the cage. Takedowns 0/1, then once Serra was on the cage he tripped on grabbed a single and took him down. LOL you talk like Hughes is a failure or something. You seem to forget that Hughes is no doubt past his prime, and leaves behind a legacy of 16 wins and something like 9 title defenses or more? What has serra got behind and ahead of him? :lol

You should put away those Serra colored glasses because you are clearly seeing some BS.

That's how I feel about the situation. I actually kind of think that both have no chance of success at WW. The talent pool is too deep.

Hughes is a legend and future HOF member in the UFC and he has nothing more to prove so talking about how he isnt a factor in WW is a moot point. He has already left his impact on the UFC. Serra is a one hit wonder and will make no impact in the future.

I think Serra has a better chance since he got better Standup & Jujitsu then Hughes. Plus I think Hughes's chin is questionable. But both are getting to old. But I think father time is closer to Hughes, then Serra.

Huhges won the fight but he didn't impress. I feel it was more a draw, Serra came closer in trying to finish the fight, Huhges won on control. He didn't want to stand. Serra's problem is that he's small and easier to control. It was a good fight I just think if it where 5 rds, we would of seen a winner. But thats the rules so you cant complain.

But I think Serra has more of the "Fluke" chance of beaten a "champ" with has power and jujitsu, where as Hughes still only has his GnP.

wow Machida is one hell of a fighter and will stay champ for a long time.

For those who hope Anderson Silva-Machida will happen? Not in a billion years,Anderson Silva said so himself. They train together and are very good friends, the LHW division is Machida`s division,Silva will never challenge Machida for the title.

Theres no doubt about Hughes being a HOF, but I think he's now part of a transtion of different fighter were he hasn't evolved & shouldn't have to since he's passed his prime. He was the best of his time, but times have changed.

I hope Hughes retires now that he got what he wanted, finally fighting Serra and getting a W....I cant stand Hughes' Punk Ass.......

True but that said a past his prime Hughes just beat a guy some here put alot of stock into. I think he's(Hughes) pretty much done(atleast as a top teir fighter) but really he has nothing more to prove. WW division is now GSP and I think he'll keep it for a long time.

It seems like atleast 3 divisions are locked down at the top(WW,MW,LHW). JMO

Should be interesting with the 3 champs. There all definitely "A" Level fighters, should be alot of good fights coming up. I think the sport is going to get real good with the mold of the complete fighter taking shape.

Machida is Fighting Rampage next.

If Rampage can somehow get inside it could be a good fight if not......it will be Evans all over agian.

I'd be betting Machida leg kicks the heck out of Rampage,it work for FG and he's way below Machidas skill level.

Which means that we want to see him getting knocked out one more time before he retires:lol

Rogan mentioned after the fight that Hughes said earlier that he wants to avenge his losses against Thiago Silva and GSP....:lol:lol:lol...yeah right, good Luck Matt!

Hmmm.. funny because imo when Hughes had Serra's back and threatened with a rear naked choke that was closer to finishing the fight than anything Serra attempted in 3 rounds.
