I think Serra has a better chance since he got better Standup & Jujitsu then Hughes. Plus I think Hughes's chin is questionable. But both are getting to old. But I think father time is closer to Hughes, then Serra.

That's what i'm trying to say, I never said Serra has a chance at the title but he actually has a future still. Serra lost because Hughes was stronger than him and outwrestled him. If anyone here thinks that if Serra drops down to LW he will still get manhandled is wrong. Serra willl still get taken down but it won't look like he's fighting someone in a different weight class. Hughes can still prove stuff, so could Chuck Liddell. All this talk that they have noting else to prove and stuff is actually wrong. True they have done amazing things in the UFC and proved that they were the best in their time, they could still prove to us that they can be the old guy who makes an amazing comeback. That's the only thing they can prove pretty much, if one of them does that then they can say they have nothing to prove.

Holy ^^^^, ive seen the previous two pics but this one just made my day. :lol

LOL you talk like Hughes is a failure or something. You seem to forget that Hughes is no doubt past his prime, and leaves behind a legacy of 16 wins and something like 9 title defenses or more? What has serra got behind and ahead of him? :lol

You should put away those Serra colored glasses because you are clearly seeing some BS.

I seem to remember Matt Serra putting an ass whipping on GSP when nobody gave him a chance. I wouldn't count him or any fighter out of winning on any given night. In the world of MMA "^^^^ happens".

Good for you, but I never said that I counted Serra out. I for one do not think his victory over GSP was a fluke. Any fighter has a chance to win, that's what makes fights so exciting to watch. It's the unpredictability factor that remains even when you think that you can predict it.

However someone mentioned the comparison between Serra and Hughes, and my point was that Hughes has accomplished much much more than Serra has and ever will. end of story.

It just sounded to me like you were putting him down with your ridiculous remark and I quote "What has serra got behind and ahead of him? " My point is what he has behind him is his man handling of GSP. Something Matt Hughes was never able to do. Yes Hughes pulled off the arm lock in his one win against GSP but Serra put on way more of an impressive showing against GSP in his win against him. END OF STORY.

Well neither are my personal fave fighters, but having to root for one or the other, i like hughes more.

But my question is valid, what does serra have behind and ahead of him? Yes he has a win over GSP for the belt, however you need two hands to count the number of times hughes has successfully defended his belt. Hughes is "closer" to retiring than Serra, but Serra is past his prime as well.

yes serra has established himself as a worthy contender, BUT comparing him to Hughes, Serra will be overshadowed every time.
