Damn, im happy that it's going to be soon (Nov 14th). but one more month later and I would be back home in hawaii watching it.

Dana won't let Anderson go. He'll probably lose in the next year anyway, if he keeps fighting at 205. He's still the best out there.

It's not a matter of what Dana wants. Once A.Silva's contract is up, he's free to "retire" which bypasses the "championship clause". He seriously wants a boxing match with Roy (for whatever reason) so I think he'll pursue that. Hopefully he'll stay around though. But who knows!?

yeah, that makes no sense at all, Silva in his prime and Roy way past his :dunno if Roy was in his prime, i think he would take Silva in a boxing match, easily one of the best boxers ever when he was on top. we need to see Silva lose then cause it sounds to me like he is just bored with the lack of great oppenents, nobody has pushed him really hard yet and that is what he needs.........Only Rampage or Machida comes to mind right now :lol

Yeah like I said, I have no clue why A.Silva has this HUGE desire to box Roy Jones jr. I could see if it were a boxer who was on top etc. I mean Roy ain't no slouch.. but he's past his prime. That's a fact. So iunno.. really weird.

MERCS!

The Greatest..Keith Hackney...gave that tub of sheet a full bronson lol..

Broke his hand in the process too. :lol

See, if Keith was smart against this opponent..he would have brought a bucket of food and just tossed it all over the canvas, then wait for him to pick it up...then run in pacc!! pacc!!
two knees to the face..broken nose and blood drizzling down his neck. done off! ya got meeerrcs! lol.

Anderson gets destroyed against Jones prime or not imo. Just two different sports, he takes Jones in the first minute MMA.

Rumor is Bisping vs Dennis Kang, and Dan Hardy vs Stun Gun Kim at 105. Those matches + BJ vs Dirty S. = pretty good card already imo.

StrikeForce had a higher rating then the UFC, it did really good.

Yeah. There's some confusion about this so let me explain it a little so everyone understands. Long read..

The Strikeforce card did get a higher rating: 2.19/2.91 (Main Event Peak) vs. 1.5 (UFC 100 Replay).

But the UFC 100 Replay had more viewers overall: 2 Million vs. 576,000/856,000 (Strikeforce Main Event Peak). The UFC 100 Replay was also the highest rated program in the male 18-34 demographic in it's timeslot with a 1.8 rating. And within that demographic the UFC 100 Replay got more viewers (513,000) than Strikeforce (181,000).

SpikeTV has a bigger viewing audience: 98 Million to Showtime's 15 Million. But what people don't get is, having that smaller viewing audience is the reason WHY Strikeforce got a higher rating. :lol

The UFC 100 Replay snatched 2 million viewers out of a possible 98 Million. Strikeforce got 576,000/856,000 (Main Event Peak) out of a possible 15 Million.

But that's not accurate because it's not like ALL 98 Million SpikeTV viewers are into MMA and 96 Million just decided not to watch the UFC 100 Replay. And it's not like ALL 15 Million Showtime viewers are into MMA and 14 Million+ just decided not to watch Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg. But that's the assumption made with the ratings. It takes into account the overall amount of available viewers and how many viewers a program actually gets and there goes your rating. But it doesn't factor in how many of the total amount of available viewers are actually fans. The UFC 91 Replay got the highest rating to date for a UFC event on SpikeTV: 2.3 Million/3.3 Million (Main Event Peak). So if if you use that number, the UFC 100 Replay got 2 Million viewers out of 3.3 Million. And since the Strikeforce card was the highest rated MMA event ever on Showtime, that means Strikeforce got the most possible viewers it could with 576,000/856,000 (Main Event Peak).

I think both shows did great but especially the UFC because again, it was a replay. Not a live event like Strikeforce. Showtime/Strikeforce and SpikeTV/UFC should all be happy with the results. They all can claim victory in certain areas: Higher rating vs. More overall viewers/more male 18-34 viewers.

I watched both and enjoyed both, personally. I'm on the Westcoast but my cable package includes eastcoast channels (HBO-E, Showtime-E, etc.) So I was able to watch the Strikeforce show live at 7:00pm EST instead of having to wait until 10:00pm PST. The SpikeTV/UFC 100 Replay came on at 10:00pm PST. So I avoided the counter-programming and got to see both. :lol

here's a cool video someone made of the UFC Lightweight division's history.

I don't know why, but I'm really not that interested in this weekend's event. Couture vs Big Nog is a dream match for me. The rest of the fights could be really intersting, but meh. Channelsurfing.net for sure.

You know what it might be:

1. No Title Fights. Normally that doesn't matter but seeing as how 100 had 2 and 101 had 1.. these non-title cards stick out like a sore thumb. 103 at least has the hype of Belfort returning. :D

And..

2. NONE of the fighters in the top 3 matches are in-line for the next title shot in their divisions.

Couture vs. Nogueira (Non-Title)
Both guys are coming off a loss. So even with a win, BOTH will need another win to be in line for a title match.

Jardine - T.Silva (Non-Title)
The winner of Machida vs. Shogun will have to face the winner of Jackson vs. Evans. And beyond that.. I doubt either Jardine or T.Silva would get a title shot with even another win.

Maia vs. Marquardt (Non-Title)
Henderson has already been named as A.Silva's next MW opponent. So it doesn't matter who wins this fight, they'll at least be behind Hendo. And beyond that the UFC seems to be really pushing an Okami rematch even though Okami has done nothing to deserve it other than having a DQ Win over Anderson.

So really, the top 3 matches don't really have any immediate bearing on the MW/LHW/HW title picture imo. Brock is set to fight Carwin. A.Silva has Hendo and Machida/Shogun/Rampage/Evans have the LHW division locked up. So it's kinda lack luster.

If the Couture vs. Nogueira fight would've happened BEFORE Couture/Lesnar it would've been twice as intriguing. Couture as HW Champ and Big Nog as Interim Champ. Now.. it just looks like two old dudes fighting over pudding or something. :lol
