It would take some serious training years before BJ can get to 170 shredded and then I would say it's a fair match but then there's the athleticism as well.

sorry but being shredded and big muscular wise has little to do with fighting.

And you guys are right. Penn sacrifices too much to move up to WW or higher. That is where he suffers from cardio and is clearly not in the best shape. but now that he has a new strength and conditioning regime which focuses on the nervous system rather than only muscle endurance I think he may have a better chance moving up now than when he previously did.

Well I was, I was saying that Hardy hasn't fought anyone as tough as Kos so I don't think he deserves to challenge GSP for his belt.

There just aren't too many other options right now. Who should GSP fight in the WW class?

Not too much but in order to give GSP a challenge, I think Penn would have become more muscular in order to not give GSP the size advantage.

Just like Mir is doing to give Brock a better challenge.

Not saying that muscles give you a advantage in fighting but with strength training comes with size so the extra size and strength would greatly help an all ready accomplish fighter.

That's what I was trying to say Nash, sorry I guess my statement was left out there to be meaning only that. I should of explained it a little further.

BJ knew he was going to finish the fight one way or another

He was looking at Diego's broken soul.... :monkey2

The mind game and strength and determination had left "The Nightmare"

Broken soul for good reason. the numbers are ridiculous

- Sanchez threw 108 strikes, landing only 8 for a success rate of 7%.
- B.J. landed 150 of 214 strikes for a land rate of 70%.
- In grappling, Sanchez attempted 27 takedowns*, completing zero.
note: BJ has not been taken down at 155 since the Gomi Fight in 2003.

[The Marinovich's] are really valuable to us because when B.J. used to fight, he used to look at the time and wonder, ‘How much time do I got?’ He wasn’t confident in his conditioning, and that’s so important. He had a mental block like, ‘Can I make it for that three or four or five rounds?’ He would always have that... Everyday we would film him training, and we were watching his speed on his punches, watching his scrambles, watching him defend takedowns. You saw Diego, he couldn’t even do nothing with B.J. and he’s taken down a lot of guys. He was neutralized totally on the standup and on the striking. I don’t think anyone can hang with him at 155 pounds. Who knows, maybe try to get [Shinya] Aoki from Japan? He’s talking s*** too now, saying he thinks he can beat B.J. Come on down bro, we waiting. Come to the UFC. I would love to see that fight. What we’re going to do is make a legacy in the 155 class … and from there we move on to 170.

I for one would love to see the Penn Aoki fight happen.

Man even looks worse on paper instead Diego's face :rotfl

I really thought we were going to see Diego rush at him and take the conditioning to the next level. He talked like he wasn't going to lay off on BJ and just run like a freight train.

This was the match that I really wanted to see. Once that left hook connected in the first round Diego start be cautious and I was like WHAT>>>>COM'ON treat him like you would anyone else.

After Florian it was fairly obvious that no one was a real threat in the LW division; and watching Kenflo try to take BJ down was actually pretty funny. :gun

Exactly. No one is saying you have to be buff in order to be successful. Hell look at Fedor. But the point is, when Penn adds weight to fight at WW that weight actually slows him down. Big difference between Penn at LW and Penn at WW or above. Especially Cardio wise. GSP is a huge WW. Like I said.. come fight night GSP is like 185 to 190 lbs. Even with his "new strength and conditioning regime which focuses on the nervous system rather than only muscle endurance" Penn still wouldn't be close to GSP in size, strength or endurance. It would look exactly like their 2nd fight imo.

I hated that he just kept pushing him against the cage, come on Florian try something new, you all ready know getting him up on one is near impossible feat in order to take him down. Look at Matt Hugh's back he probably could deadlift 400lbs and still couldn't prior the other leg while having Penn against the cage.

New plan of attack Florian, please stop trying that method for the 80th time in a row.

Doesn't Aoki lacks big time on the striking?

I say Ken-Flo would beat Aoki.
