As far as Dana White's comments about making it up to the fans, I think how he'll do that is by making the original match-up of Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort for the MW title free on SpikeTV.

People are speculating about fight fixing in UFC 112. I don't know what to think about it but i guess it 'could' make sense. Penn loses the fight by judging, Edgar is a 7-1 underdog. Silva takes the fight all 5 rounds, which im sure the line for that happening was HUGE as well....you never know.:huh

Anything's possible. I'll say this though, the possibility of Silva's fight going to decision was more likely (at least to me because of the Leites fight) than Penn losing by ANYTHING.

yeah, the only that was suprising from that even was the LW fight, but I thought the Silva fight was pretty predictable

I think Silva KO's GSP, probably Mir to. The Silva fight was a strange fight but he's still the most talented fighter out there. Chael or Belfort may have a chance against Silva. I hope the GSP fight happens but GSP seems is too small.

I hate Frankie Edgar. I knew the fight would suck. He's a boring point fighter, I hate fighters like that. BJ didn't seem himself.

The UFC has been on a low the last few months. From all the injuries to bad Judging and Poor Fights. Just happy to see Carwin KO Mir.

didnt Mai beat Chael awhile back? I think Chael would get dominated by Silva as well, Belfort has a descent chance. I disagree though that Silva doesnt deserve to fight GSP, everyone wants to see it, and since I dont see Silva wanting to fight a whole lot longer in the UFC, he better do just for business reasons, it would be stupid not to.

And Royce Gracie has nothing to do with the initial decline in MMA's popularity in the 90's. it was networks who didnt have the balls to broadcast "human cockfighting". In fact, Royce Gracie is pretty much one of the main reasons WHY MMA is so popular today. Everyone jumped on the jiujitsu bandwagon once they saw this skinny little brazillian tapping out guys 3 times his size.

I think Gracie/Jui Jitsu added much needed validity and integrity to what was pretty much a glorified Tuff Man contest.
I also think it did make fighters flock to learn JJ and compete, but from the fans POV, I know most of the people I knew quit watching the fights for the most part.
It was just like even GSP said himself "What just happened? I cant tell." they rolled around on the matt and the big guy tapped out.

I was just speaking from the entertainment / fan POV.
Obviously the UFC wouldnt even exist now without what Gracie brought to the sport of MMA. Theres no doubt about that.

I dont think A. Silva will have a problem dropping down to 170 to fight GSP. There are a couple of other guys who weight much more and do it. Even him gaining to go to the heavies I dont see a problem. To me its like if he feels no threat from his opponent then he plays around. If Vitor would have been in there win or lose it would have been a completely different fight.

Now waiting for the next Strikeforce and then WEC

I thought I heard Rogan say Silva cut from 192 for the Maia fight. I could be wrong though.

Also Dana said that Silva doesn't deserve to fight GSP. It sounds a bit silly to me, but the guy does hold a bit of a grudge.

I think I remember Rogan saying that too and Silva's fight before that, he dropped from 210....so I think the Silva/GSP fight would probably have to be a catch weight.

I would have thought so too but they said during the broadcast that they will fight at 170, doesn't mean they're right.

:huh

WOW, that's a LOT of weight. But then again, Wanderlai dropped down weight which I didn't think he could do, so I guess it's possible for Silva to drop too.

That was different though. Wanderlei Silva made a permanent move down to MW and it took him about a year to finally do it; he couldn't even make that weight limit for his fight with Rich Franklin that's why it was a catch weight bout. It took James Irving a year and 8 months to drop down from LHW to MW. Last time Anderson Silva fought at 170 lbs was like 5 years ago. I doubt the UFC wants to put the MW division on hold for like a year just to make that Silva vs. GSP fight.

I think it would be A LOT easier for GSP to move up then for Silva to drop down. Not to mention a catch weight bout wouldn't be as lucrative or exciting as a championship, 5 round fight IMO.

I just saw Saturdays fight and realized that he has no cpmpetition, it was pretty funny to watch but it does suck for those who paid...

Yeah.. everyone keeps complaining about how Silva acted but realistically after the fight was done Silva looked exactly the same as he did when he walked into the fight. Maia.. not so much. :lol

Though he hasn't faced a proven fighter yet what is everyone's opinion of Phil Davis? The two bouts I've seen him in he's looked pretty solid for a newcomer. Any word on who might be next for him??
