It all boils down to...Fedor isnt fighting for UFC and will continue to just do whatever M1 says. Until someone actually smashes him (not TK throwing an elbow and cutting him accidentally) nothing will change. Also as Devil666 said the day he does lose, the hype will be gone and no one will really care about Fedor anymore because the mystery will be solved and the draw to be the first to beat him will be over. Thats one thing about MMA is marketability...if you have no marketing behind you, you'll only really be known to the hardcore fans.

But he DOES care about his record because Fedor just recently stated that he wants to retire undefeated. Which is the main reason why I don't think he wants to fight in the UFC.

Yup.. and that makes absolutely no sense because even with the loss Machida is still the #2 LHW in the world. :slap

Not to mention (regardless if you agree or not) he still holds a win over the current #1 LHW + Current UFC LHW Champ Shogun, a brutal KO win over the #3 LHW Rashad Evans and another KO win over the #9 LHW Thiago Silva.

As for the rest..

#4 LHW Quinton Jackson has ducked Machida now two times. First before the Rashad fight (and it was a title shot) and now again after both guys lost recently. That's the fight the UFC wants and offered Rampage and apparently he declined. We'll see if that changes though.

#5 LHW Forrest Griffen. Honestly don't see him doing much.

#6 LHW lil Nog. This would be a good fight. Still see lil Nog losing though.

#7 and #8 LHW's King Mo and Mousasi. Those guys fight in Strikeforce but I can't see either of them challenging Machida (especially after their horrifically boring, uninspiring 5 round snoozefest).

The former #10 LHW Cane just lost to Cyrille Diabate so taking over that spot should be Jon Jones (with a win over the janitor).

Other than Shogun, the only LHW fighters I see giving Machida a fight would be Jones or lil Nog. And I think ultimately, Machida would beat lil Nog. The Jones fight is a toss up (Jones is still a mystery IMO).

Where did those rankings come from? There is no way in hell Jones isnt in the top 6 as a LHW.

I pulled those from Sherdog. Only ones I changed were #3 Rampage and #4 Rashad. I swapped their spots because Rashad won their fight.

Bloody Elbow has him at #12 (A.Silva is #5 there). Fight Matrix has Jones at #21. MMA Weekly has Jones at #8 though (A.Silva at #5 as well). But they also have Brett Rogers at #10 in the HW division after 2 straight losses and only 1 top 10 win in his entire MMA career. Yet Bigfoot Silva (who just beat that same guy: Arlovski) is unranked. So kinda iffy. :lol

Those rankings are all screwed up. 3 sources, 3 crappy rankings.

As for Fedor wanting to retire undefeated, he might as well just retire now because that attitude towards fighting is ridiculous. Its nothing but another way to feed his ego. This is the reason why I dont feel he is the best fighter in MMA. Fighting can fighters and guys on there way out the door just shows how scared he is to lose.

Dana and the UFC are a bunch of babies, making Tapout pull the Fedor shirt and threatening them with a lifetime ban. I so glad Fedor doesn't fight for the UFC and I hope he never does.

Heres Article:
"Initially, Fedor Emelianenko, the number one heavyweight fighter in the world, secured a deal to sport the always growing and ever popular “TapOut” clothing line at this weekend’s Strikeforce events.

However, during my time here in San Jose, while spending time with very legitimate sources close to the situation, I was advised that certain parties within the UFC halted TapOuts participation in the event and threatened a UFC lifetime ban, if Emelianenko came out wearing their line.

Similarly, In Fedor’s last outing he came out wearing the ever popular RVCA clothing line which resulted in the UFC’s temporary ban from the Orange County based lifestyle Apparel Company. We witnessed evidence of said ban when UFC star BJ Penn did not come out in his traditional RVCA gear during his title fight against Frankie Edgar.

RVCA has since made amends and as is now Octagon worthy once again. However TapOut was apparently not willing to take on the same gamble as their Orange County counterpart and pulled the deal from Fedor, just days before Strikeforce goes live.

In an industry monopolized by the UFC, getting banned from their fighters is a huge blow to any company trying to make it to the big stage. Tap Out opted to keep their relationship with the UFC intact and the Russian based M-1 management team secured the deal with Dan Henderson’s Clinch Gear."

Also gotta give alot of respect to Shane Carwin for saying he's rooting for Fedor and that Fedor is the Top HW. Hope he KO's Lesnar.

^^^That's funny. I just looked at his walkout shirt.

That is screwed up. I dont agree with them doing that.

Fedor Vs. Werdum
Scott Smith Vs. Cung Le
Cris Cyborg Vs. Jan Finney
Josh Thomson Vs. Pat Healy

Ron Keslar Vs. TBA
Brett Bergmark Vs. Vagner Rocha
Yancy Medeiros Vs Valdir Araujo
Bobby Stack Vs. Derrick Burnsend

Ugh I feel sorry for Jan... Cyborg is going to kill her. Rooting for Cung Le. Werdum... poor Werdum. No one gives him a chance in hell of winning. :lol

What do you guys think of GSP? I know he's the champ and all but he is a boring fighter IMO. I think it's time for him to move up to middleweight. Some guys fight to win and some guys fight just not to lose GSP to me is one of the latter. Don't get me wrong I don't hate the guy but I can only stand so much wrestling. I like watching 2 bad ass strikers go toe 2 toe.

:lol at threatening Tapout. ...and people thought RVCA was banned for not paying the UFC sponsor fee.

Edit* When it comes down to it the UFC can ban whoever they want, whenever they want. It just sucks that it looks so juvenile in cases like RVCA and Clinch Gear.

Same here. Cyborg is a dude that had an operation. :rotfl Seriously, she's just badass, and I wouldn't have a problem if she wanted to fight some of the men. I also want Cung Le to win, and I of course want Fedor to win.

I like GSP, but he does the same thing that others do. Penn just did it, Couture does it, and Anderson Silva just did it. Can't do anything about it, but Dana did say that he's pissed at the performance Silva had.

I feel the same way. GSP is a smart fighter. I think he went back to his wrestling game ever since Serra KO'd him. I still think Anderson Silva would destroy him.

Respect right there! You know Brock is good and all but come on he's only had 5 fights and those were against chumps sorry to say. Frank Mir, old ass Randy Couture and Heath Herring. None of those fighters are the creme de la creme. These guys are decent at best. Fedor has won 32 fights and only about 7 were won by decision the rest he finished. So technically right now he is the top HW. I'm not a Fedor fanatic or anything I just call it the way I see it. Now if Brock get's a record even close to that then I think it's safe to start saying he's "somebody".

Everyone would rather see 2 strikers fight. Its why Chuck was so popular in the UFC (that and his highlight reel KOs). I dont consider GSP a boring fighter because even if he wrestles, his G&P is relentless. He stays busy and doesnt lay on the guy. I saw if it works for him then why change. Plus GSP is a good striker but if you put him against someone weak against wrestling... he's going to wrestle them. :wink1:

No doubt Anderson's stand up would destroy GSP. GSP wouldn't take Anderson down half as easy as other fighters. I honestly don't think Anderson would even let him get close enough to take him down. My prediction for this fight if it ever happens Anderson KO's GSP with a knee countering the takedown. :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl
