Really? I said Shields was the the most dangerous guy GSP's ever faced. Would you care to provide the quote where I said that.....or would you prefer to continue blowing smoke out your a$$ and make things up as you go along? And since you were the one to bring up the issue of GSP's most dangerous opponent....then why don't you answer the question I asked in the 1st place. Again, who has GSP fought that is more dangerous? Feel free to name any other guys he's faced who've won 15 straight fights, or who've gone 6 years between loses......Can't think of anyone? OK, then why don't you name the UFC challenger whose even won a single round fighting GSP since his loss to Serra?

I never said Shields was a great fighter, but based on the results of GSP's title matches over the past 4 years I cant say that about any one of his opponents either.....can you?

Hughes (1st and 2nd fight), Fitch, Kos, Penn, Alves, Serra (Rematch) > Shields

When it comes to more "dangerous" opponents for GSP.

Granted, I could have made myself clearer in the 1st part of my post, but I did specifically mention 'title' fights in the last 4 years at the end of my posting, so not including the first Hughes fight which occurred 6 1/2 years ago.....which one of the guys you mentioned even won a single round in their shot at the title? If I remember correctly Alves was the only guy you mentioned that even looked like he deserved to be in the ring with GSP. :dunno But again, based on the performances of those fighters in their title shots none of those guys looked particularly dangerous to me, and I can't honestly say Shields looked worse, or any less dangerous than anyone of those guys.

Jon Fitch. Before the loss to GSP on 08/09/2008 Fitch's last loss was 12/13/2002. 4 months shy of 6 years but Fitch had more wins; 16 fight win streak to Shields' 15 fight win streak.

OK, I'll give you that one :lol I didn't take into consideration his fights outside the UFC, which I should have. Interestingly enough, I believe Fitch was the last guy GSP ever referred to as his most dangerous opponent prior to Shields. And based on Fitch's UFC record prior to his bout with GSP it was a well deserved label.....but let's face it, he was totally outclassed, totally outside his league when he fought GSP for the title.

Josh Koscheck in their first fight. 2 out of the 3 judges gave a round to Kos which is why the scores were 30-27 and then 29-28 x2.

That was the last time GSP lost a round [prior to the Shields fight] and it did occur within the last 4 years [3 years, 8 month's to be exact], but it wasn't a 'title' shot :nono

I can. Because GSP lost a title match to Matt Serra on 04/07/2007. Which happened within that 4 years. :nana:

:lol:lol:lol

True, GSP did lose the title to Serra, and true it did happen on April 7, 2007. Now I'm not sure which calendar you're using or which month you think we're in right now, but my calendar says May 4, 2011.....sooooo, according to my math that match didn't occur within the last 4 years. :pfft: And no matter how much I like Serra, and I do, I don't think I'm quite at the point where I'm willing to label him as a great fighter. :wink1:

I think the question most likely to keep everyone awake regarding GSP is if he'll move up to 185 to face some tough fights or take on Nick. I think the proposed Diaz/GSP fight would be great --doubt that one would go to decision-- but wouldn't mind a Silva fight.

The fighter I'm most curious about in Welter Weight is Nate The Great. He trains with GSP, thinks he has a great chance to win a belt in that class over middle weight, and is a beast. Wonder if he made the choice based on thinking GSP was vacating the belt after this one and moving up?

If GSP moves up to MW, he should take a fight with a contender not get an automatic title shot. If Dana really wants Andersn Silva and GSP to fight, make it a 5 round catchweight fight instead so it's a little more fair.

GSP still should fight Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit,Jon Fitch, and (depending how their next couple fights go) Rick Story, Jake Ellenberger, and Mike Pierce. Division is definetly struggling but not cleared out.

Anderson still has contenders for his belt also: including Yushin Okami (UFC:RIO) Alan Belcher, Bisping (unfortunatey), Chael Sonnen (Rematch after a win or two), also depening on the outcome of Brian Stann vs Jorge Santiago. If Stann wins that would be a very easy fight for UFC to market with Stann being a Marine.

Each division still has contenders who have never fought for the title. Each individual possesses interesting threats to the champion.

Many people thought that BJ Penn had cleaned out the UFC's LW dvision and didn't give Frankie Edgar a chance, two fights later Edgar is 2-0 against him. At this stage in the game a division will never be cleared out. They will only get thinned out.

FW and BW have less contenders than WW and MW.

BW has Faber, Brian Bowles,Brad Pickett, and Miguel Torres. Then the best up and comer is Mighty Mouse.

FW is looking a lot better with the recent drops of some former Lightweight's. It is still in need of some emerging contenders though. As of right now it looks like Chad Mendes is the only immediate threat to Aldo with only a few other contenders behind him including : Dustin Poirier, Diego Nunes, and Josh Grispi.

Dana could easily get a many more BW and FW fighters to the UFC so those divsions will eventually grow, just need the UFC to go out and make a couple acquisitions.

As of right now the WW and MW divisions are pretty much cleared out because the champs have either beaten all of the guys in their divisions or the guys they haven't fought lost to someone they fought instead.

Obviously in the future things happen and new contenders arise, but Anderson Silva at MW and GSP at WW are the only two guys in MMA who've routinely defeated the top tier guys of their divisions.

And when you look at the low end guys they're mostly guys who've had title shots derailed from losses, new guys to the divisions or guys who haven't fought any top tier guys themselves.

I could be wrong, but I don't see GSP moving up to MW. Let's face it, these guys have relatively short careers, and a small window of opportunity in which to make their money, and GSP is going to make a boatload more money fighting as the perennial WW champion than he is as a top 5 contender in the MW division....GSP doesn't seem to have that killer instinct anymore, and the 'fear of making a mistake' strategy he's employed in recent fights would get him killed in a match with Silva....I just don't see any upside to him moving up.:dunno

yeah thats a tough one, because I like Frankie, but I like Gray also. Id be happy with either guy winning it doesnt really matter to me. So i'll go with what Devil said - I want the white guy to win.

Life Lesson #24: If you can't earn it, use blackmail to get it instead!

Nick Diaz has signed a contract to face former IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy (1-3 in his last 4 fights) in a boxing match later this year.

Unless..

The UFC puts on Diaz vs. GSP. Then he'll forgo the boxing match in favor of a WW Title unification bout with GSP. Nick Diaz seriously wants out of Strikeforce. :lol

I think he should fight a spelling test first.
