Silva a money maker???? Up until the first fight with Chael, Silva headlined cards had some of the lowest buyrates in UFC history. The money maker in Silva's last two fights was Chael. Chael is the one who created the hype for those fights not Silva.
Totally agree, Chael was the reason that card did so well.
I disagree (with the first card at least since the numbers for the second PPV aren't out yet).
As a whole, yes, Silva has never been a big PPV draw. But the biggest misconception about the first fight with Sonnen is that Chael brought in the numbers. And that's false.
UFC 117 Silva vs. Sonnen I, PPV buyrate was 600,000 with a live gate of $1.56 million.
UFC 97 Silva vs. Leites, PPV buyrate was 650,000 with a live gate of $4.9 Million.
UFC 126 Silva vs. Belfort, PPV buyrate was 725,000 with a live gate of $3.6 million.
Maybe the numbers will jump for 148!? But as it stands, Silva has drawn bigger PPV buys AND live gates against other opponents before and after the first fight with Sonnen.

As far as Silva rubbing vaseline from his face to his body. Like people have already pointed out, he ALWAYS does that. He even did it in the Belfort fight (and Belfort is striker) so it has nothing to do with cheating or trying to gain an advantage.
People need to understand: The amount of vaseline Silva applied to his own body is actually less that the amount he (and every other fighter) gets on their body, naturally during the fight i.e. ALL the vaseline that was rubbed on Sonnen's face before the fight was all over Silva after that first takedown.
