It's about more then just the knee, and UFC announcers won't want Silva called for a illegal shot cause he's a money maker for them and I believe they favored him to win.

Nobody has commented on Silva trying to grease up his body before the fight started. It was pretty obvious too, and bad enough that the referee wiped it off with a towel. This isn't the first time he's done it, but I've never seen anyone stop him to wipe it off before.

So anyways here's some news on Roid Rage Overeem. Dana has "nothing but respect for Alistair"
https://www.bjpenn.com/mmanews/2012...eed:+bjpenndotcom+(BJPENN.COM+MMA+NEWS+BLOGS)
He went downstairs and waited for forty minutes until I called him upstairs, and then came into my office like a man.”

“Nothing but respect for Alistair now. We all make mistakes and we all do stupid s–t. I say this all the time. It’s all in how you handle yourself after. He handled himself like a f—ing stud.”

“He’s doing all the right things now,” White said. “He’s fixing all the wrongs. We’ll see what happens.”

Lol...at making him wait for 40 minutes. He's a stud'? 'he walked in his office like a man'?

What the hell? Did he walk in there with his shirt off or something?

Ok, one more Lol before I give up and go do something productive with my day.

hahaha

UFC 159 Silva vs Hairlesswookiee, Sub-Zero and Chael Sonnen.

Putting vaseline on himself is crappy thing to do. Only officals should be able to do that to keep things fair.

Silva a money maker???? Up until the first fight with Chael, Silva headlined cards had some of the lowest buyrates in UFC history. The money maker in Silva's last two fights was Chael. Chael is the one who created the hype for those fights not Silva.

Totally agree, Chael was the reason that card did so well.

Yeah Joe noticed it as he was doing it. Like Hairless said though, its not the first time he did it. I think this time people calling it out because this fight had so much hype behind it people were coming out of the wood work to see it and break it down.

On Saturday I went to my usual place to watch the fights only to find out that it was standing room only and the prelims had barely started. Went to another sports bar across the street and was told the same. I ended up grabbing a pizza and ordering it at home. I havent ordered a ppv since the early days of the sport.

I disagree (with the first card at least since the numbers for the second PPV aren't out yet).

As a whole, yes, Silva has never been a big PPV draw. But the biggest misconception about the first fight with Sonnen is that Chael brought in the numbers. And that's false.

UFC 117 Silva vs. Sonnen I, PPV buyrate was 600,000 with a live gate of $1.56 million.

UFC 97 Silva vs. Leites, PPV buyrate was 650,000 with a live gate of $4.9 Million.

UFC 126 Silva vs. Belfort, PPV buyrate was 725,000 with a live gate of $3.6 million.

Maybe the numbers will jump for 148!? But as it stands, Silva has drawn bigger PPV buys AND live gates against other opponents before and after the first fight with Sonnen.

________________________________

As far as Silva rubbing vaseline from his face to his body. Like people have already pointed out, he ALWAYS does that. He even did it in the Belfort fight (and Belfort is striker) so it has nothing to do with cheating or trying to gain an advantage.

People need to understand: The amount of vaseline Silva applied to his own body is actually less that the amount he (and every other fighter) gets on their body, naturally during the fight i.e. ALL the vaseline that was rubbed on Sonnen's face before the fight was all over Silva after that first takedown.

I had no issues with anything Silva did in the fight, it's a shame the fight didn't go longer and the rest of the card sucked. Chael had no chance against a pissed Silva, still can't believe what he said about his wife. I wander how long it will be before Chael starts calling out Silva again.

Chael had no chance? :lol

You must not have watched the first round. Chael was winning once again....till he blew it! :lol

He trolled his way to two title shots. He lost both by stoppage. The magic is gone. :lol

I love Chaël...What an entertainer...Its a Shame he lost.

Totally agree with both statements. Im not a Chael fan, but the dude can talk up a storm and as Devil said talked his way into 2 title shots. He lost both, but again the guys an entertainer and I'll give him that much.

You have to look at the whole card when it comes to buys. The main event doesn't count for every buy.

If Dana could have pulled off, when he was the champ, Brock vs Fedor, that would have drew crazy numbers. It would have also needed to happen before Fedor lost to Werdum.

Im not really sure that would have beaten this. I liked Fedor, but I dont think he really had that big of a presence in the US as say how Anderson has built a name here.

And that would've been primarily because of Lesnar, not Fedor.

It would have also needed to happen before Fedor lost to Werdum.

Honestly, even after that loss a fight with Lesnar still would've been a draw. Again, because of Lesnar.

He's still the biggest PPV draw in MMA history.

I agree that Brock would have been the bigger draw. Imagine what Dana could have done to build this fight. It would have been Rocky in reverse. The unbeaten Fedor comes in to fight the American monster, Brock. Hype builds fight and brings in average Joes. Lord knows Brock can build a fight if allowed to. Oh what could have been. Fedor retired and Brock getting checks from Vince to show up a handful of times a year.

Its a shame nothing was done about Silva's absurd cheating and rule violations. If it wasn't for Silva's absurd amount of cheating in the 2nd round, Sonnen could've beaten this guy easily as he was doing in the 1st round. Sonnen was again easily manhandling Silva, ending the round in full mount on the Brazilian "black belt" greaser, arrogant, dirty fighter, fake.
Keith Kizer of the Nevada Athletic commisission told Silva that he's lucky Sonnen (stupidly) didn't want to press charges, appeal or have Silva fined but if he conducts himself like that again he won't have his license renewed.

Blatantly rubbing Vaseline all over his body making the other grease monkey, GSP, look like an amateur
