Those gloves are.. TERRIBLE. :lol

Good luck trying to sub someone with those monstrosities. Not to mention you can STILL eye poke someone with them not only with the big alien fingers but also with the exposed thumb.

Yea, I think the most plausible thing to do is stop fighters from leaving their fingers strait open the way guys like Jon jones do. It wouldn't stop all of them, but those faints a lot of guys do with their fingers straight out account for a lot of pokes.

Refs tell the fighters not to do it. But sometimes (like with Bisping/Belcher) the eye poke occurred during an exchange and things like that can't be avoided unfortunately.

how did jones break his toe anyway?

I think they just need to bring the knuckle padding over the whole top of the finger. Similar to how shooto has their gloves. I remember people always complaining that shooto had "pillow gloves" but I feel like thats what you get with still having an open palm and finers but bringing the padding all the way down the fingers.

Didn't expect this..

According to Dr. Robert Klapper, who appeared on Tuesday's "UFC Tonight" program on Fuel TV, Jones just suffered a violent dislocation that happened to rip through the skin. Because of that, he doesn't expect an overly lengthy layoff.

"The rehabilitation involves putting the toe back into place," Klapper said. "Because there's no fracture of the bone – it's just a dislocation – in six weeks it's healed, then you start range of motion and strengthening rehab. He'll be back to fighting in six to eight weeks."

That's not a firm timetable, and Jones is set to see his doctor in New York this week, then see a specialist in a few weeks' time. That said, with as bad as the injury looked, it may not be nearly as bad as feared.

That news (if true) will probably squash Machida vs. Gustafsson. Machida asked for that fight when he thought Jones would be out for a while, since he's next in line for a title shot.

Well Pat Healy (submission win over Jim Miller @ UFC 159) tested positive for the Ganja. Not only was the fight ruled a NC, but Healy also lost his $65K SOTN bonus. Bryan Caraway gets it now (sub win over Bedford). F'n potheads. smh.

Didn't he also lose the FOTN bonus too? I'm not against pot smoking, but you'd imagine these guys have figured it out by now that there's a drug test before the fight. Sorry, but there's nothing in the world that I could NOT give up short term for that much $$$$
