Completely agree about Terminator Salvation, very underrated film. The designs, acting, story, soundtrack, etc. were all done pretty well imo. I think people were just expecting it to be great, like 1 and 2, which I knew from the beginning what to expect.

Living up to the first two was pretty much impossible, especially with all the years that passed after T2. Salvation for me was a sizable improvement over T3, for the more serious tone and that it occured during the future war and added more to the overall mythos.

Salvation is a pretty turd. It's really horrible. But it looks nice.

It's one of those films that get a lot of hate for no reason. It's a very good action flick, if you're expecting anything more I can see why you wouldn't like it. The nods to T1 and T2 are pretty cool as well. I also think Worthington, Bale, and Yelchin were pretty decent in it. The script for Bale just wasn't that great, he needed more character development. It was obvious from the get-go that Marcus was the main character.

The story they were telling wasn't that interesting. They could've shifted the story to how the T-800's were created, which is why they were trying to do...but dropped it for some reason, and never mentioned it until CGegger shows up.

The movie was too gritty in it's vision, but lacking in actual grit. It had no heart to it, none of the characters were worth caring for, outside of Marcus. There were barely any Terminators in the film. Bale was horrendus. I could go on.

It was a pretty bad movie. I think it gets what it deserves. Cameron summed up most of my feelings...but with less venom...obviously.

“It probably didn’t get a fair day in court because I had to watch it at night when I got home from work, over a period of two or three nights. I think Sam [Worthington] is remarkable in the film because, well, I think Sam is remarkable in anything he does. Interestingly, I think McG did a good job in the sense…I think he was almost too referential to the mythos of the first and second film. He over-quoted them in a way?”

“It didn’t feel to me to be enough of a reinvention. I mean the thing we did with the second film is that we reinvented the first film completely; spun it on its *** and made the Terminator the good guy, and came up with a whole new concept for a villain, it felt fresh. I didn’t feel the fourth picture was fresh enough. It also lacked a certain stamp of authenticity because Arnold wasn’t in it. I mean, he was in it briefly, digitally, but that’s not the same thing.”

“I didn’t think it was bad. I didn’t think it was embarrassing. I don’t think he let the franchise down in some huge way, but I did feel some sort of unease that it didn’t go beyond.”

I disagree with the last part, because I DO think it was a bad, embarrassing entry into the series. I couldn't care less about the future war. Unless someone actually does it right.

I think its a much better film than TGTBATU, the story is tighter and its much more believable. The dialogue is so much more fluid and Eastwood really seems to be enjoying himself.

Any trouble boy?

No old man...... thought i was having trouble with my adding, its alright now.

I strongly disagree. Just curious CelticPredator, If you think Terminator Salvation was bad, what do you think of AVP?

Hmm. I never heard or read any of Camerons thought on T4, thanks for posting that CelticPredator. Although I probably disagree with your opinion, I don't think it was all that bad, and certainly better than T3: The MTV skit.

1. Friday the 13th Part V - A New Beginning
2. Terminator Salvation
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. Spiderman 3
5. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom - didn't even realize there was a disliking for it. It was by far, my favorite!

Just reading that Cameron excerpt that Celtic posted, it got me laughing a little. He gave Sam two thumbs up essentially for T4.. but I thought personally that he was weak. Between his monotone approach to every blockbuster role he's gotten, to his 'is it it there is it not' American accent, Worthington is just the wrong fit for big block buster movies - period. Of course Cameron's going to blow smoke up Sam's culo - he's the lead in his CG epic.

Sam is FAR better suited to smaller down to earth roles - like the Aussie films he's done. That's his strength IMO. Folks just seem to go along with everything just because he's now on the Hollywood action star list - that he's automatically a perfect fit. I thought he was weak in COTT, meh in Avatar, & T4 was the same.

Why he didn't get chosen for the new Mad Max film which SCREAMS for him to be cast in.. is a ****ing mystery.

My main thoughts as I read every word were 'why don't you make a Terminator future war movie? minus a power balad in the end credits why don't you make a Terminator future war movie? minus a power balad in the end credits why don't you make a Terminator future war movie? minus a power balad in the end credits why don't you make a Terminator future war movie? minus a power balad in the end credits'

:lol

Ehh.. at the risk of sounding sacrilegious, has he still got that creative fire in him to add more gold to the legacy, or just another installment?

I'd say a damn good start would be to cast Roland Kickinger as a new T-800, & have Arnold as the 'man' the blueprint was based on, woven into the story somehow - but not like the cheesy way they nearly did it in T3 (now a deleted scene).

Hmm.. :lol

I still think he'd make a far better Terminator film than anyone else. Avatar may not have been original but it was great entertainment.

Oh for sure, totally - he's the MAN! :lecture

I just mean that after all these years, does he really care enough to commit 100% of his blood sweat & tears like he did with his original vision. He doesn't need to make that sort of sacrifice now, & having the resources he does at his convenience, the money would be there.. but would the heart?
