I'm also a bit disappointed on this one - not on the execution of the piece (which is pretty awesome IMO), but more on the character choice. I would rather that Sideshow put all that effort and artistry in producing a PF statue of a well known and well loved LOTR character. It's just disappointing that the key characters in the movie (and the book for that matter) are not being prioritized. I feel that that interest in the LOTR line is beginning to wane (which one would expect considering that it's been a couple of years now since the movies came out), and that unless PF statues of key characters such as Legolas, Eomer, Morgul Lord are produced now, we may never get to see these pieces from this line.

I wasn't disparaging the execution either, it's a fantastic piece. But with so little LotR stuff coming - I'm disappointed that this was made now instead of another character.

Certainly Legolas and Gimli would seem to be no brainers for PFs. And a Ringwraith.

i dont think this one was aimed at the book lovers even if you didnt like or know LOTR that well you'd still buy it because it looks awesome. i wonder if they were aiming for a wider audience meh maybe just crazy talk

Hopefully these will be coming in the not to distant future, and other lotr PFs!!!! Don't stop the lotr PFs sideshow!!!!! I would love to see the ringwraith, gimli, and legolas among others...

I'm hoping that a Legolas and Gimli (from Helm's Deep) are in the future-- There's no way I'm cancelling this LOTR PF.

Exactly, the last thing the PF line needs is another human character featuring a so-so likeness. Unless SS can get Trevor Grove to agree to do the human facial sculpts for this line, it would be very wise for them to proceed slowly.

To me Galadriel was the release that made me say "hmm, maybe this line is in trouble." Very mediocre likeness and a relatively minor character. At least got rid of the doll hair, but still not an impressive piece to me.

This on the other hand is attracting all sorts of people who never would have bought a normal LOTR PF, and I don't think that's a bad thing. Sure, I really want to see characters like Gimli and a ringwraith, but I think there's definitely room for more minor characters if done well. Perhaps some more grunts like an elven soldier to face off against the bad guys.

I might have preferred that they space out the orc and the berserker a bit more, though, since they are kind of similar.

that's the reason i like the fiction characters in pf's better than the human pf's. it's so hard to get the human characters exactly how they should or would of looked in the movie.

either they're sculpting is in question or the paint app is. not saying all are like that, but alot of them could've been done better imo

Legolas might be tricky (I don't think the bust looks that much like the actor) but Gimli shouldn't be that hard since so much of his face is hidden by his beard.

Sideshow really hit the nail on the head with Aragorn, but their record with the other human characters isn't exactly great. Does everyone forget the so-so response they received?...which just happened to reflect in the sales of these pieces. There is nothing that will kill this line faster than a bunch of human characters suffering from poor likenesses, and if SS is going to keep producing such great baddies like Lurtz, MO, and now this one, I say...bring 'em on!

Yea I really enjoy the Baddies in and what SS can make of them and in LOTR there is just so much possibility of what these baddies can be and I think the Berserker looks great

I agree with ya there woodsy, although I have the other pfs and really like them...The likeness, although good imo, are not spot on like aragorns...That one turned out great!! Hopefully any future pfs will take after aragorn...

Have to say, I actually think this was a wise choice to make into a PF, instead of, say, Legolas. I would never have bought a Legolas PF; nothing against the character, no one can detract from the awesomeness of the Legolas. Still, a lot of people who aren't even die hard LotR collectors are looking at this piece in awe.

There's something about the more unique baddies that just fascinates. As soon as the Uruk berserkers were made known with TTT, I gravitated to the concept. These are the biggest and baddest of the Uruks, creatures completely without fear and bred to cut down as many foes as possible before they themselves die. That's just it, they were destined to die, going in devoid of armor, just hacking and slashing until they expired. I particularly enjoyed the concept of filling their helms with human blood before placing them onto their heads, driving them into a blood lust before combat.

I've been selling off some LotR items lately, but this is something that's a must-have.

I'm curious, though, about the expected release date. It says Q1 2009, but the flex payments don't seem to correspond with that at all. Any thoughts? Just curious if I can expect this to come knocking on the door of my checking account before I'm ready for it.
