Thenam, I just don't get you dude.

People come in here to discuss and speak their minds.
So far so good.

Some have pet peeves about accuracy on certain subjects, others don't.
So far, so good.

Let me digress a little.
My main line of interest is Alien, and I've started entire threads devoted to bringing to the attention of the powers that be accuracy issues with their figures. And no, I'm not talking about the CM's or the Nostromo figures (I'm cool with some of the inaccuracies on those, although it would be nice if they had been more accurate), but rather the aliens themselves. I have posted pictures, sent references, started polls and have even written HT sending them ideas on how best to include articulation in their designs while keeping accuracy. I (along with other fans on this and other boards) corresponded with NECA's lead sculptor on the Alien figure to make sure we all got the most accurate figure possible. Which was incredibly cool on his part. (Yey for Kyle!)

Why am I mentioning this?

Because the "whining" and "nitpicking" serves a purpose. To try and make something that is already wonderful even better. To bring to attention inaccuracies that the casual fan might not notice.
If the belt on the Indy figure is the wrong color, I wouldn't notice it. But the fact that somebody noticed it, mentioned it and thus achieved that it was corrected doesn't affect the casual fan. But it makes the hardcore fan happier.
Is that bad?
Is it wrong?
Does it make things worse?

No.
It helps those who care about the smallest details and, in the worst of cases, is indifferent to those who just like the overall look.

To many the Aliens warrior made by HT is the epitome of alien-ness. To me it's a cool interpretation, but horribly wrong in terms of accuracy. I posted requests and pics to try and get it to be more accurate, but it didn't work. Fine, I still bought the figure. But I tried to make it more accurate. Would it have made the casual fan unhappy if the figure were more accurate? I dare say no.
The difference is, AFAIR, that nobody felt the need to comment over and over how they felt it was futile or silly (not using your words, I think) to keep berating HT over the accuracy issues.

Some people just said "I love it the way it is and it kicks ass and I'm happy I'm even getting such a fantastic figure and I'm not too concerned over the accuracy issues" and moved on.

And that is what I feel baffling about your attitude. It helps nobody and doesn't move anything forward when you keep coming back to voice your opinion about the opinion of those who want more accuracy.
On the other hand, what these guys are saying can have an impact on the accuracy and quality of this figure or the next. Which is good, right?

Repetitive?
Maybe.
Destructive?
No.

But what are your comments on their comments achieving?

Anyway, sorry for the long-winded post, and maybe it should've been a PM, but since this is such a public debate, I thought it would be appropriate.

And that's all I have to say about that.

As for the figure, I think I'll wait for some troopers to display with Anivader when he kicks padwan butt.
Hopefully that one will be more accurate, although I'm more of a casual fan when it comes to Clonetroopers.

Id like the most screen accurate figure possible, tbh I thought it was, if a bigger nerd then me proves that it can be improved then I say "go for it bigger nerd"

Im all for it

Anyone complaining about these guys and their nit picking can kiss my shiny metal A$$

As for the 'dollie' bashers

they can kiss my shiny metal A$$ too

Repetitive?
Maybe.
Destructive?
No.

Exactly, and while repetition may get tiresome on those who don't feel the same, in terms of emphasizing the point it's good. If people didn't emphatically keep on a point, the people they're trying to reach might think it's now a non-issue. And as Irish points out, this is as much about future figures as this particular Clone. If they make fixes and we get other Clones all right and they look great, no nits, we'll never know but it's possible the errors on other Clone designs might make the figures look horrible. I think most feel Utapau trooper is non-essential enough to come out wrong, but since the pieces will be recycled again and again for future Clones, they're aiming for the improvement in the troopers they really care about.

It's like the doll dot paint issue, you have to keep expressing yourself to really get through on some matters.

If SSC sees that these little details being off significantly bothers folks, it might drive them to fix them. If they think it's been forgotten, there's no sense making the expense in retooling.

People, i've already had my little run in with Nam in another thread. He's one of those guys that loves to argue. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. (even when he's wrong he thinks he's right) He gets off on this stuff.

IGGY TIME.

WOW...can I get the Cliffnotes version? :p I guess I should apologize for having realistic expectations? I mean, yeah, if every figure turned out perfect, we'd all be shiny happy people holding hands with REM. But in the really real world, you really need to look at things as they stand. Is the Utapau worth $90 as it stands now? To me, absolutely. Sure it has flaws. There isn't a single person here that doesn't have flaws (albeit a grip who think they don't). Reading some of your posts, I think you really rock back and forth at night, curled in a tiny ball, crying and contemplating slitting your wrists over a small point on the front and round respirators. If it bothers you that much, DON'T BUY IT! :rotfl

Again, I really wonder how you people would handle it if someone critiqued the hell out of every little thing you did. Every little mistake you made and made it seem that with every positive thing you tried to do, you were destroying their tiny little hearts and ruining the lives of thousands. Agent5 called me shallow for being grateful that we're even getting the quality of figures that we're getting. I guess I'd rather be shallowly greatful than come across as an insufferably selfish ingrate who unrealistically demands perfection out of a $90 toy.

Meh, just scroll fast :rotfl

....seen the future he has....

So again, please, for the sake of starting a big ol' session that's going to have you whining to the admins, giving Irish another opportunity to try to rub his taint all over me or my collectibles :)p), giving Evilface an excuse to post more redundantly humorless one-liners and upsetting Josh even further for far-reaching comparisons, let's agree to disagree.

It's only a matter of time before the cycle continues :rotfl.

While it would hurt, smart people would take those comments and use them to improve themselves. People and things can always be better, nothing is ever as good as it can possibly be, and some people never just settle for what they are and always look for ways to better themselves and some companies never settle for their product as it is and always look to make it better. Sideshow is one of those companies. Even though there are mixed feelings around here as to what strides Sideshow's making or not, they are trying to better their product all the time. So long as the information is presented in a mature, respectful manner, they are open to even the most minute critiques. Plenty of times, I've seen threads around here result in better end products because people spoke up.

There's nothing wrong with any opinion, be it content with things as they are, or always aspiring for something better because you know it's possible. How you feel is how you feel, there is no way for everyone to feel.

There's never been a problem in a thread around here where opposing opinions on a product, member A says I love it, B says I'm not a fan, no problems. These thread only get bad because people criticize other people's opinions and the product isn't even the point of discussion anymore.

If you love a product as it is or whatever but you see a thread full of people who aren't as content and find nitpicks they want to point out, pay them no mind, continue making your comments in the positive, find some folks sharing your opinion, start a dialogue with them in the thread and enjoy life.

There's no point in going after a person or group of folks for their opinion, and it's not really right either. We're all entitled to our opinions and the point of this site is to converse with those who share it, but in the end, these thread are a potpourri of opinions, some you'll share, some you'll be opposite of, that's just how it is. You can't just have a thread devoted to equal opinions it won't happen, so accepting this and working with the message board society as it functions is the best way to enjoy your experience here.

Something I tell my kids during basketball. When people stop talking about how you can get better you know they don't care about you. I believe that works with SS as well. However, there are some that just say the nastiest thing they can because they can. I'm sure SS or the artists that are here do the best they can to ignore those and watch the folks who can be constructive.

See, that is the kind of derogatory remark that gives me pause to think about what exactly it is you expect to achieve.

As I stated before, it seems you have nothing to contribute.

He does the same everywhere, have u checked out the 1/6 Indy thread?

that's an interesting point actually. i think because SS have some great licenses and a good price point the "fans complain coz they care" idea holds very true. i find some people have largely giving up on some other companies because of they don't seem to listen. so people stop caring. i don't want to mention any names, in case someone invokes the "slap wildly" button on me.

I was being general with that statement. If it hit's home for you, well, that's your own issue, isn't it? And again:

Again, all I'm saying is don't cry about a toothache if you're not going to go to the dentist:

There's a fine line between constructive criticism and just plain bashing. You'll see that line crossed in many posts in the previous 87 pages of this thread and just about all the other Sideshow Star Wars threads with people really bombarding Sideshow without even taking the time to even address the issue with them directly. And again, what's the point of crying about it if you're not even taking the issue to those responsible?

What you don't understand though is, many of us have been posting here for years and understand how the board works more than newcomers.

Yes, there's an Ask Sideshow section where comments like this would seemingly be best put, but more often, SSC reps come into threads like this one to gauge the overall reaction and you're more likely to get their attention here, plus the Ask Sideshow section often fills with rediculous threads amidst the serious and genuine, making SSC less likely to sift through it all.

This thread is a perfect example, SSC was clearly watching beacuse after an ammount of talk about the problems, someone posted and stepped in.

In the Ask Sideshow section, these points may have gone unnoticed.

Again, there's a way of life around here, and it takes time to learn, I was probably here almost a year before I really knew how things worked among the society here, but I adapted to that, and you will too. Just understand, you've joined a community that flows a certain way, and coming in suggesting how people that have been here a long time should do things is almost like going to someone's house as a guest and telling them how to raise their kids or decorate their home, it doesn't go over well. Be observent of how people do things around here and adjust to that and go with it, it's the best way to enjoy this place.

SSF's long time members are like a collective person, they are how they are, they're not going to change, and you can accept them as they are or not, but if you try to change them, it's not going to bode well.
