Whats a better value: Discounted SWShop Medicom AOTC clone for $80 or SSC Utapau for $90?

For the sake of keeping guns holstered, I'd say it boils down to preference. If you've owned other Medicom clones, you'll know what to expect. If you own the armored Obi Wan from Sideshow, you'll also know what to expect. So again, it's just which you prefer.

Whats your preference and why?

Well, if the armor from Obi-Wan is any indication then I would go with SS. I like how it feels like armor would and the sturidness of the body I think overall will be better than Medicom's. I think SS Clone looks like he's been in battle from the start and doesn't HAVE to be sent to someone to have that look. The armor on the AOTC figure I think could get crappy over time if not taken care of. That being said I have the AOTC figure already and have the SS Clone coming.

Both? :huh I actually have both. I prefer Sideshow's more for the durability factor, they're also more poseable (going off of armored Obi) but Medicom's has tighter joints (not always good with the fragile body though). Generally, both are great and worth the money (Medi's being $80).

FWIW, Sideshow's blasters are light years more detailed and accurate than Medicom's, which basically are no better than Hasbro-quality.

There's that too. But who knows. Maybe it's intentional and a variant of the Deec that allows Medi's troopers to shoot around corners! :p

Both are good figures and are great at different things. Medi's have tighter joints, better body gloves, and IMO, more accurate armor size...the posability was given up for that armor size, however. The SS armor is PVC like plastic and it feels a bit cheap, but more "armor like" maybe? They monkeyed with the armor plate sizes to get WAY more posablility than the Medi clones, however. Something weird about the ankle thought to me. Obi looks like he has on a pair of Chuck Tailors. :lol Again, I think that was sacrificed for posability. I would say that if you arent or dont have the Medi's then get the SS version. If you have been just looking to see what a Medi 1/6th figure is like, then the clone's a great place to start. Even though they dont pose a well as SSs, they can give you most of the movie poses or very close to it.
The weapons comments are right on point.

I don't think it feels cheap at all. Even after opening it up to get the figure out for customizing. Comparing the two, I actually prefer Sideshow's harder PVC armor to Medicom's bendable plastic Hasbro-ish armor.

I don't like my clones like the size "0" wraith model medis, if they where 1:1 there is no way a regular male could fit in that, Cloneobi's is a bit to big but looks a lot better fit I think..IMHO, not to mention that with the supplied leg extenders in the legs of the ep3 clone the arms are now to short, "T-rex clone"

I also dont think SS armor feels cheap at all. The only 2 things I like better about the Medis is like you said, the armor fits better and the ribbed body glove. But SS has way better looking weapons and they have better hand sculpts. Look at the detail in Cloneobi's gloved hands, compared to any of Medi's clones.

...Talking SW is like talking politics or religion.:rotfl

Thanks Josh...that statement put a smile on my face:)....I must say, it certainly seems that way some days around here. Not to say we don't see folks getting just as intense about whatever line/figure they like here as well.

And all this fuss for a Trooper! What's it gonna be like when prod pics start showing for Vader?

Glad it could help. It does thats for sure.

These aren't production pics, though. They were the prototype. It's inaccurate and it's wrong, and it should be fixed BEFORE it's in production. That's the point.

No fuss with the Vader prototype, because it rocks balls off.

I dont like SS hard armour, as it restricts the waist movement. Whereas the Medi clone doesnt.

Also, it doesnt help since my clonobi had superbly loose joints, can't hold a damn pose and the arm broke within 1 hour of gentle posing.

I still have this on ordered though, heres hoping that they will fix the loose joints syndrome.

:huh

I also agree. The stitching WAS very noticeable in person. But it doesn't bother me that bad. I hope they can fix the stitching, but it's not a deal-breaker. I'm happy with it and the price.

Still an incredible figure, though. And despite this one nit it's still shaping up to be the best licensed Vader 1:6 figure ever released.

:lol :lol :lol

What exactly is your point? I loved the Vader at SDCC. Josh and others were there with me and we were all ga-ga over it. But, the stitching was noticeable (though not that big a deal). Sure, if they can fix it... great! The figure would be even better! But no biggie, if they don't. Not at all the same as I feel about the Clone helmet sculpt, which just needs to be fixed before they make more.

Also, re: Vader... it's funny that you failed to highlight that I pointed out that "it doesn't bother me that bad" (the stitching) and that it's "an incredible figure... shaping up to be the best licensed Vader 1:6 figure ever released."

An interesting attempt, though. But you apparently have issues and cannot help but try and stir the pot. I suggest (again) that you cool it.

Hey, no "fuss." ;) I just call it like I see it. :rotfl

Yeah, and apparently your field-of-vision is quite myopic and you just can't help but poke and prod, needlessly.

Unless, of course, your intent is to ultimately buy yourself a one-way ticket off of these boards. If that's the case you're doing a pretty good job, methinks.

Do everyone (especially yourself) a favor and quit playing King Troll™.
