I don't want to sit and look at the regular when there's an exclusive out there that I missed. That's why I don't have the painted versions of the Star Wars dioramas that have been bronzed. I would just think of the more limited exclusive version whenever I saw the regular on the shelf, so I won't bother with it. There are plenty of other collectibles to spend money on, so I'll just focus my attention elsewhere rather than get a less coveted version. Of course, if I had one bronze I would have to get them all, so it's actually a bit of a relief to have missed out as I can now relax and not worry about them.

Hmm. Thats an almost twisted view of things IMO. I'd feel less than 100% knowing I had an item less than what I coveted, but couldn't care less if it wasn't the one other's coveted. I always make the joke "if I own it it won't be worth squat". Whatever I like always seems to be made for a billion other people too. I don't like the bronze versions because they are less colorful than the others...lol.

How do you figure? This was the very first figure in the line so is it's edition size going to be the death of the line when it's sold well ever since? I don't think you'll see zombie fans drop the line because they were not one of the lucky 300 when the line first kicked off.

I tend to think a reissue would put many fans off the line....300 specific people come to mind.

This is the way I see it.

Collectors are all OCD. You have got to have everything (I know there are exceptions to the rule, but I believe by and large this is the case).

If it looks like its next to impossible to get a complete line, many collectors will drop out.

I don't mind depending on the variants. If I don't like the variant, I won't buy it. But I like some variants more than others...

Goth babysitter? :rock

Sorry, I did mean that I was the one doing the coveting, lol. If I really want a certain piece, settling for my second choice will leave me wanting the real thing.

I do get miffed though when Hot Toys comes out with a Predator. Then when you received it (usually when they are sold out) they announce a new version with more stuff for the same price. I don't mind the different colors and such but this tactic kinda bugs me.

Yeah, I won't mind if SSC starts cranking out varients for clonetroopers, but if the first clone trooper had 1 rifle for $100 and I bought it I would be pissed if the next clone trooper was priced the same and had 2 rifles, 2 sets of hands, a removable helmet, etc.

I think of it as a ""Ooh look its shiny and pretty" approach. Everyone wants it when its new and full of hype. If you have everything its really easy to tell yourself you have to keep having everything. If you are already missing something its easy to tell yourself that you can drop it in favor of something else.

Good point. I think most collectors struggle with this. I wish I could buy everything. However, my pockets don't allow me to. If I had more money I would blow it on more stuff. LOL! It is hard to be a collector. Factor in the price of gas, UFO's, and all the starving children in Africa and you have a mess. :monkey3 :lol

i remember back when I collected McFarlane figures and they released the repaints, I read that the ES of the repaints were about 1/4 the reg run.
But because the eidtion numbers were never revealed people always still wanted the reg versions moreso than the repaints....

I feel for completists .... IMO its a waste to HAVE to have every figure in a line and a good collection quickly turns into a cluttered mess when a collector must have everything .....

See for me I just get whichever version I want most if I'm not getting them all. So like with the SW dio's I have no interest in the bronzed versions. That makes the painted ones the most wanted for me. Which I guess means I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

Variants don't bother me unless their is a very limited chase variant that looks better than the regular.

You want my PZ for $60 bucks shipped?

Bet your heart jumped didn't it. You want it, don't lie. :lol

i'd buy it and flip it like every other greedy flipper here, including you. :lol i liked how you chimed in on me not selling you the two imaginary symbiotes i picked up in the express update. :lol let's face it, no one sells for what they paid or less, unless the market value went down of course. funny you pointed me out when i was pointing ed out, when you have also done the same thing. i guess we ALL shouldn't be throwing stones, eh rory?

unfortunately sideshow only made 300 of pz, which was too low for a first figure in the line. what's lame is someone wanting a re-issue of an item that was done so the lucky people that got a pz would find it was worth a lot less. get over it, you didn't get one, move on. :lol is that a kodiak comment, or do many others feel the same way?

I've owned Patient Zero and sold it a week later..he sux...and the whole line in my opinion is overated.Just my opinion....The positive thing about this line is that Sideshow made an awesome publicity stunt with their Videos ect..to market that line...

variants dont bother me. in this line anyway. im not a "completionist" (can i get a ruling on that word) for the dead line cuz ill never pay the insane prices for PZ. i just like the zombie figures cuz they are different and fun.
