With such a universally bad reaction, I really want to see what Sideshow does in response. There's no way this sells that well but I guess it depends on the edition size.

I'm with the "I'd buy it cheap to customize" camp.

I bet the ES is high.. and the price is 500.. as well as hollow and flaking paint..

The price thing is getting WAY out of control. I'm all about the Life-Size busts, but the quality is going downhill quick. I go back and forth with these things, but when I do have my head on straight, I can't justify it.

I'll admit I do like the Thor and Wolverine 1:1s and have them on order, but honestly, I might (and probably will) cancel if this keeps up. I was thinking of doing all 1:1 bust only collection and selling the rest (PFs, comiquettes, etc.,) but I'm not going to downgrade.

I'll do what I did with the Hulk bust and get it for a fraction of the cost on the secondary market. I paid $300 out the door for my Hulk 1:1. Some would say that's even too much. I'll admit I liked it a lot more in person, but would I pay more than $300 for it?....No.

That's basically my same thought process on this one, especially when I have the OG Venom 1:1 staring at me straight in the face on a daily basis. I paid well under retail for him and it set the bar, IMO.

No other Marvel 1:1 touches it.

I agree, these things aren't worth more than 300.. Getting silly. Especially since the quality is clearly dropping from what it was.. Glad I was in the game when it mattered.

Also original Venom 1:1 is sideshow's finest.. I agree

what other tricks does it do for ya chap =P wahahah this venom is FUGLY! Hopefully they remake a carnage to go with the original venom and spiderman as the carnage and venom newly release go together.

That bust is just a recycled Carnage bust leftover from the excess inventory. Sideshow is a business and lately they've been cutting quite a few corners. If this keeps up Im gonna move on. Its bad enough that we are paying $300 for a hollow statue, but its worse when they start repainting the bad statues for a premium.

Just like the 4 different elektras that they re-released..

EDIT Im only bitter because I really wanted a Venom life size bust since I missed out on the first one. I would've preferred to see Todd McFlarane's intrepretation... since he is a fellow Calgarian.

If they didn't fix Carnage, I don't think they'll fix this one.

Now, I'll admit I like this a little bit. I'm not TOTALLY hating it, and will I try to pick it up down the road at a good price? Most definitely.


But....


I'd like to know one thing:


What goes through the production department's head when someone plasters the pics we got tonight onto an overhead project and says "Here's our new Venom 1:1!! Thoughts?"

There's NO WAY a group of people got together and unanimously said, "I think we have a winner."

I respect the artist's interpretation, etc. etc. That I get. But Sideshow is in the business to appeal to the biggest crowd possible, which is why they're probably revisiting a character with this much popularity. But when you present something THIS radical, don't you think you should run it by your fan base first? Maybe a "Tell us what think before we go mass producing this" thread. I'm sure it will sell some pieces...no doubt, but it had a LOT more potential, just like Carnage. And after a while of displeasing (at least to a certain extent) a majority of the fans (which is apparently the case, based on the replies in this thread,) you think they'd be worried about losing some customers.

I respect Sideshow. I love their work, but it's really sad to see pieces miss the mark by only a few tweaks here and there.

Well, as Bodie pointed out earlier, the saliva effect on its tongue keeps me mesmerized for hours and hours at a time. I'm still waiting for it to drip off!! One day...one day.

Wow, just saw the pics of this thing.....you know what...doesnt surprise me at all SS would put out something like this. Honestly, it just seems like their grasping at straws now to keep people interested in their crap. Are they going to make 20 versions of the same character??
That doesnt look like venom at all. If ugly is what they were aiming for then they succeeded! It can go right up on the shelf with their 1:1 carnage and 1:1 Hulk disasters.

If they go with a stylised version of it it will be a great disappointment
