i'm totally with you guys on that, i WAS an instant orderer not that long ago, now i'm more along the wait and see type now.

i've only got a few more items preordered from ssc at the moment and after that my collecting is going to take a big nose dive once they ship unless something completely amazing comes along. it's funny that this seems to correspond with the NRD, but in fact the NRD hasn't changed my mind about ordering anything yet, just the small scale, poor choice of character/styling or the "we all know this piece will have problems" senario.

:exactly::goodpost::exactly::goodpost:

I only have a few things on order now too. And my ordering habbits corresponds exactly with the NRD, so I guess that was a smart move by SS. Only Marvel piece I have is the Red Skull LSB, which didn't have a NRD, but I probably plan on keeping anyways.

my ordering habit corresponds with the fact I have all the main characters and heavy hitters minus the missing x men PFs....these days, if I like it, I order it. line be damned

that was odd, wonder why no NRD on him?? maybe cause of the low 150 ES, or the lower price point :dunno

The NRD wouldn't really bother me on a piece that I really want but everything lately has been kind of meh. Still waiting for those knock my socks off pieces.

:exactly::exactly: same here, maybe the announced or should i say the suggested Planet Hulk will bring back the excitement. to bad it won't be till end of this year or next. i hope the Rogue Pf comes out great as well, the last couple lady PF's just haven't done anything for me, other than BC:yess:

Black Cat is great. Makes me want a Black Widow PF. Would go excellent with the upcoming Barnes PF.

Only thing I've ordered with an NRD was the Hot Toys Mark V. I'm trying to be more selective anyways so NRD aren't gonna change much. Basically, I'm only gonna order when I see an NRD and I REALLY want it.

I love Asians & I love Venom.... but I don't like Asian Venoms! The eyes are horrible.
Personally I would be embarrassed to own this. It shames the Venom character.:(

From an artist or maybe even personal standpoint yes, although the criticisms are usually followed by sarcastic statements which we've seen turn artists away from the board. Really which artists want to see what they think is a fantastic work of art photoshopped to death?

From a business standpoint absolutely not. If the majority of your product is selling as is, without much issue or hassle then that is where your "loyalities" lie. Not to mention that is also why we are not getting revisions because if they are sold looking one way but are changed then the group who was happy the way they were are suddenly upset and if that is the majority then you're in trouble.

This is an artist specific piece which means fans of Steve Wang will want what he put out there which means SSC won't screw with this any more than they would an Olivetti Comiquette or Hughes Comiquette or Brooks one.

Before someone brings up the HT argument, they listed all their photos with "prototype shown final product may be slightly different" giving them that avenue to fix or alter. The majority of SSC pieces do not have this which means if they alter they run the risk of alienating those who liked it as is, and since the majority buy things as is (as I would imagine that even in that 10%, the amount that want any changes is far less on a piece by piece basis) why do anything?

Mike, great post and great points. I agree with all, except one: the business point. Take away the posts of those who provide sarcasm, and include only the posts which provide detailed, proactive, and specific suggestions, I think SS would do BETTER hearing those opinions out, keep their loyal fan base happy, and bring in new customers.

You and I are on the same page Quad. In fact, what I am finding myself doing more now, is looking for some of the older pieces, whether it be SS or Bowen, to round off the collection.

No kidding. It's almost like the older SS pieces are where it's at because those were the pieces before rampant QA/Paint issues and better core character choices. I'm glad I got in around 2007 and was able to secure quite a few of them. Sure I wish I got in earlier. The newer stuff, we'll see how it plays out over time.

I had an email correspondence with someone from Customer Service yesterday, who wrote to me after I had written a bad review of Carnage Life-Size Bust at sideshowtoy.com.
We wrote back and forth, when finally I wrote that I looked forward to the new Venom Life-Size Bust but was not satisfied with the (bad/boring) paint and was afraid it would also be hollow inside same as Carnage...

I got this answer..

Customer Service said:
Hi Chris,

The Venom will be similar in style as the Carnage piece. Because of the size of these pieces it makes it easier to have them hollow. Solid pieces would be extremely heavy and end up costing our customers more money to ship.

I hope that you enjoy some of our future products coming down the line and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

I agree with him that it is expensive to send heavy 1:1 bust to international customers, but I am willing to pay to get a heavy figure and not the hollow 1:1 bust!

Nah, this is how it should have been

not a 1:1 collector... but if Venom looked like this, i may consider it...
