Someone once posted that forums, all of them worldwide, make up less than 10% of the buying force, I don't remember who.... You also have to take into account the retailers who will buy it just to stock it even if it never sells which eats a large chunk of the regular orders. I wouldn't say they don't care what we think since they do chime in here and there and have referenced certain comments on their Q&A, etc but I would say they aren't worried about the small segment in the grander scale.

People still think that Hot Toys changes stuff based on consumer feedback and that Sideshow pulls things when we the forums don't buy it disregarding the global picture in both so I say continuing your _____ing, it's like pissing in the wind or screaming at a brick wall but it gives us something to read and discuss. :dunno

I thought someone who worked for Sideshow said the Freaks forum in particular accounts for roughly 4%.

Whatever the number is, I agree that they do chime in but aren't too worried about what's being said on here. I'm sure they've done their homework and are spending most of their time/resources on higher impact areas...which doesn't happen to be here. I don't blame them though...that's what I'd probably do too.

... but when I do have my head on straight, I can't justify it.

... I was thinking of doing all 1:1 bust only collection and selling the rest (PFs, comiquettes, etc.,) but I'm not going to downgrade.

... especially when I have the OG Venom 1:1 staring at me straight in the face on a daily basis. I paid well under retail for him and it set the bar, IMO.

No other Marvel 1:1 touches it.

Chap, you and I think a bit alike. The Hulk 1:1 bust, and the Carnage bust, are what has helped me keep my head straight with SS new stuff. I remember defending the Hulk bust before it came out, thinking in hand it would look better in hand. It did not. I gave it one more chance with Venom. Case closed on collecting all of the 1:1 Marvel busts. Even though the Wolvie and Thor look good, I have cancelled those orders based on the Hulk and Venom bust experiences.

Now, I will only keep the exceptional, outstanding Marvel ones, hence The Thing, Venom, Spidey. Like you said, why downgrade? IF the Wolvie and/or Thor are indeed outstanding pieces, I will get them at that point.

I still love SS stuff, I respect their Customer Service and how well they look after their customers, I will still buy SS. Only difference now is it will be the great stuff in the theme I am collecting and with a more careful thought towards the purchase.

I agree, these things aren't worth more than 300.. Getting silly. Especially since the quality is clearly dropping from what it was.. Glad I was in the game when it mattered.

Also original Venom 1:1 is sideshow's finest.. I agree

Hard to argue that point ...

If they didn't fix Carnage, I don't think they'll fix this one. :(

... What goes through the production department's head when someone plasters the pics we got tonight onto an overhead project and says "Here's our new Venom 1:1!! Thoughts?"

There's NO WAY a group of people got together and unanimously said, "I think we have a winner." :yess:

I respect the artist's interpretation, etc. etc.

... I respect Sideshow. I love their work, but it's really sad to see pieces miss the mark by only a few tweaks here and there.

... Last I heard, Sideshow said these forums makeup a tiny percentage of their customer base...so I doubt they care what we think.

Yes, there is what I believe to be less than 10% of SS customers are on this board. Yet, here is an interesting thought: If the less then the 10% are also their hardcore fans, from a business perspective, would you not want to hear SOME of their input since this less than 10% can bring the product from mediocre to good to excellent to outstanding? Surely, some of their hardcore, devoted collectors must have some valid opinion?

From an artist or maybe even personal standpoint yes, although the criticisms are usually followed by sarcastic statements which we've seen turn artists away from the board. Really which artists want to see what they think is a fantastic work of art photoshopped to death?

From a business standpoint absolutely not. If the majority of your product is selling as is, without much issue or hassle then that is where your "loyalities" lie. Not to mention that is also why we are not getting revisions because if they are sold looking one way but are changed then the group who was happy the way they were are suddenly upset and if that is the majority then you're in trouble.

This is an artist specific piece which means fans of Steve Wang will want what he put out there which means SSC won't screw with this any more than they would an Olivetti Comiquette or Hughes Comiquette or Brooks one.

Before someone brings up the HT argument, they listed all their photos with "prototype shown final product may be slightly different" giving them that avenue to fix or alter. The majority of SSC pieces do not have this which means if they alter they run the risk of alienating those who liked it as is, and since the majority buy things as is (as I would imagine that even in that 10%, the amount that want any changes is far less on a piece by piece basis) why do anything?

I don't think this will hurt the original's value

maybe if it was a McFarlane or bagley version, but not this :lol

i dont think so either, but i do suspect this will sell more than Carnage, but thats not saying much. i dont think the Wang name will hold much merit on a marvel piece, a predator piece? no doubt it would, but not something like this.

?

i'm totally with you guys on that, i WAS an instant orderer not that long ago, now i'm more along the wait and see type now.

i've only got a few more items preordered from ssc at the moment and after that my collecting is going to take a big nose dive once they ship unless something completely amazing comes along. it's funny that this seems to correspond with the NRD, but in fact the NRD hasn't changed my mind about ordering anything yet, just the small scale, poor choice of character/styling or the "we all know this piece will have problems" senario.
