Very nice! The colours really pop! Looks dead mint too.

I'm also interested in knowing what this set you back... Might be interested in getting one myself...

nOOB wants to know why you guys are buying mint vintage SW figures. is it that you don't have these characters in your collection, you have them and want multiples, or is it that you would like a more minty tasting character? :dunno

i just unpacked some of my SW vintage and starting to stick my toe in the water again after all these years. just not sure how far in the deep end i wanna go. :lol

I'm not really sure what happened to all my old SW figures - or GI Joes, TFs, Sectaurs, Visionaries, Super Powers, etc... I think maybe we sold them in a garage sale or something.

So yeah, I'm rebuilding my childhood collection, and then some. :)

Most of my childhood toys were destroyed/played with. So a lot of my stuff is new, but that's okay with me.

I had a few SW figs from my youth that I initially thought were decent enough to put into my current collection but I now feel differently... They're C6 at best.... I found my GI Joe figures recently and they're little more than parts now. No joke.

Thank you for all the feedback guys! :1-1:

I'll probably start sooner or later, but it looks like I'll need to do some homework on prices, grading and most importantly a most wanted list as funds will be tight shortly. :monkey2:lol

I'll probably hang out here from time to time, though, and hopefully soon post pics of some of the sw toys I just brought back from my parent's house (including some joe and transformer stuff).

Damn, Waller I just remember I never got back to you about my faded-ass Sy Snootles :lol

Do you mean Max Rebo? He's still available. :wave

Hot damn Waller! That thing is sooo awesome! The colors are so vibrant... It just oozes Star Wars and 70's. How is the quality of the cardboard they used? Is it as thick and stable, when set up, as it appears to be? You mentioned it having a pretty substantial footprint. What's the diameter? Like 2.5-3'?

It's about two feet wide. The cardboard is very sturdy and holds up very well.

That is an awesome piece Richard, can I ask what this set you back? I know it's a grail.

It cost me $500 shipped from Canada. It did come with the box that I may try to clean up a little and stuff it with something to hold the shape. I got it from a guy from RS who was nice enough to hold it for a month while I generated some money from eBay sales.

You won't regret getting into the vintage stuff.

And enjoy this thread. Easily the best one on the board. All the cool kids post in here. :rock

That doesn't sound too bad, especially from Canada. Unfortunately, being from there I know quite well that Canada Post is much more expensive than USPS. :(

I may have to join Rebelscum for deals like this...

Agreed (on all points!).

The vintage stuff is a lot more satisfying to collect, I find. Especially regarding Star Wars. Trying to keep up with new SW stuff is just overwhelming, I find - and the quality is all over the place, when it comes to Hasbro 3 3/4" figures. While sculpting and articulation have come a long way, it's not as if the current stuff is perfect - likenesses are still off, there's no standard whatsoever when it comes to articulation, and you're almost bound to buy a "better" version of the character you bought two years down the road or so, so what's the point?

I do like the 12" Sideshow stuff, though, of course!

There's definitely something charming about the old Kenner stuff, being the first SW figures ever, and the whole childhood nostalgia aspect. I find them quite aesthetically pleasing, as well. The design is nice and consistent - they just look RIGHT, if you know what I mean.

Ditto GI Joe and Transformers (at least the first two years of TFs, that is). I have to admit, I do prefer the new MOTUC stuff to the originals, though.

Rebel Scum's photo archive is a pretty good place to start in terms of reeducating yourself. Their forum is also an excellent place to pick up loose figures at great prices.

Seems like a fair price for a grail IMO.

Aw, shucks...this is the best thread. Now I wait for the NAM bomb.

Double true. :duff

Got a couple figures in the mail Saturday. Paploo and Hoth Leia. Very, very happy with Leia. She's dead mint, clean w/tight joints. Paploo is really nice but not quite as dead mint as Leia. I never owned Paploo as a kid so I was pretty stoked to finally get him.

A question for those in the know, Paploo has no CCO. I see this referenced pretty often but I have no clue what it means? Is this figure made in Mexico? If anyone has any info I'd love to hear it. :D

So I just paid for a VERY nice vintage piece... something many would consider a grail, I think!

But you'll have to wait until I get home (around the 20th?) for me to take pics and show it off. I'm very happy I was able to get this...

As far as I know, it just means there's no "made in" country markings. I don't believe that means it was made in Mexico though... probably Hong Kong.

Thanks Prime!

Vintage what? SW? GI Joe? You're not home till June 20th? :slap

Added three vintage 12-inch figures this week: C-3PO, R2-D2 and the Jawa.

I really need to get some pictures this weekend. I still have a crapload of secret stuff I haven't even mentioned yet. :rock
