The paint off those old LJN ones were always the first to go. They were amazing rubber figures with a great scale, man I was so rough with mine. I think I even bust the middle of the ring up with body slams of King Kong Bundy and Big John Studd :rotfl

I'll never forget when my dad broke my ring... He came storming down the hall and got his foot caught in one of the ropes, got mad and kicked it. The ring was broke and ol' Pop never bothered to get me a new one... For some reason that memory stays with me. :( These are things I think about before letting my son see me lose my temper. It might have seemed like some dumb toy to my father but to kids they mean so much.

Took care of his toys huh? Sounds like he wore a half shirt in the 80's :lecture

:lol He never even took his toys outside!

The moment I saw a mud puddle post-ESB is the moment the electronics in my X-Wing stopped working... PLOP! Right in the mud.:lol I as brutal with my stuff. He still has a ton of Keaton era Batman figures too and some, the really weird color variants, have super tight joints and look card fresh.

We were total opposites.:lecture

I had some stuff that was for outside play, but most of my Joe stuff wasn't. I was into Big Wheels (Dukes of Hazzard, then Knight Rider and my sister had the Thundercats one), frisbees, and early Nerf stuff outside. I liked model rockets for a summer. Funny, I had an old buddy in town last weekend and he had traded me a lot of Joes growing up. I was actually pretty easily picking his out figures.

Man, most of my childhood toys were destroyed... very little was salvageable from a collector stand point :lol

I'd give anything to have my OG toys...anything. My best friend was going to toss out his Kenner SW figures (in a Vader case mind you) and asked if I wanted them. I was like you don't want to save them for your future children? He was like...nope! So I snatched them up for my son(s) so they can appreciate them and take them to the park, bath time, etc. the wait they weren't meant to be played. In honor of my BFF I am going to put his initials on the bottom of every figure so I know which ones are his since I am adding more figures to the collection.

I think the WWE figures are more or less an anomaly. I destroyed the LJN ones so the later Hasbro versions didn't get much play. I still need to post pics of my old vintage SW figs from my childhood. Chopped off hands, swapped heads, sharpie marker all over them, etc. I was surprised to see the bits and pieces of the GI Joe figures to be honest. I thought they were all sacrificed to the lawn mower gods. :lol

Treasure what you have left Rich. When Gabe is old enough, pass them down. :duff

Those big ass LjN figures hurt like a motherf_cker if you throw them at someone. Or so I have read...

That got me thinking, my brother was just the opposite... Here's his collection thread:

Many of the vintage TFs were originally his, incl Fortress Maximus and a few other pieces. All kept in wonderful condition.

He also has a great collection of Vintage TMNT and Thundercats that for some unexplained reason just sit in boxes.

EPIC, and I hate his guts. No BotCon for the Flosi (plural) this year?

That's just cool all around :duff

The nice thing about putting together my own vintage collection is that my duplicates are growing by the day and those all go to Gabe. In fact he's already playing with a Hammerhead, Yoda, Bossk and Boba Fett....

Not to mention the hundreds of carded POTF figures that are sitting in the garage just waiting for him...

Anyway, a few vintage figures arrived over the last few days. Hoth Han (one of my all time favorites thanks to the little loop on his holster that could actually hold his blaster), IG-88, Greedo, Walrus Man, original R2 and 3po and a Yoda that was missing his cane, which gave me the robe, belt and snake I needed for the Yoda with cane I still had from my own childhood.

Original 12 are now completed with 3 more needed for the first 20. (Death Star Droid, Power Droid and Snaggletooth)

Ah, I hate collectors like that! All my original Joes were destroyed and/or sold off in a garage sale or something...

Luckily I've got more now than when I was a kid. Almost everything I wanted back then, too... The Flagg is the one that eludes me now. Mainly due to space/wife! One day though...

Yep, this is a very feel-good thread.

I've been thinking about picking up an LJN Hulk... or maybe Sgt. Slaughter would be more appropriate, since it'd fit with my GI Joe collection. I think he's an expensive one though...

Sounds like your Vintage Kenner set is moving right along Flosi :rock :rock

Yeah, it is!:lecture It's so damn fun to get these figures in hand again, essecially when you consider that it's been 25 years or more since I had my own. My wife laughs at how excited I get but it really does make me feel like a little kid when they arrive. :panic:

The Flagg, Prime?? Where would you put that thing? Your collecting room already looks pretty jam packed.

If there is a house fire...

Wife & kid(s)

Kenner SW collection

Kenner Indiana Jones/LJN TOD figs

Hasbro G.I. JOES

Kenner Super Powers/Mattel Secret Wars

That is all...oh and maybe some Transformers. And photo albums...

So I was needing a little advice from those who've been in the market for a Blue Snaggletooth. It looks like they can be had for under 100 with paint wear on the boots. Anything closer to C-9 will run between 250-300. How should I go about it? Keep hunting and try to get the best condition BS I can for somewhere over 100? Or just bite the bullet and pick up a high end one? Any advice would be appreciated.

Depends on what you want Rich, if you want a nice one...you gotta pay. I'd be wary of eBay as you never know when one has been touched up. I am trying to acquire a near mint right now, it's a beeyotch to find a minty mint one. Always try to buy in person, SDCC always has good deals/finds. So do SW Celebrations. That's where I picked up my Yak Face and EV-9D9 from Cloud City Collectibles (RIP).
