Fantastic photos, dunedain!! Loved seeing what the new Toy Story stuff look like.

Looks good but also a bit distracting isn't it?

I guess it could be at first, but ultimately it adds to the show and it's really neat. But typically, not enough people watching are owners of these hats so it won't look that way in my photos all the time. I attended a special showing where they gave us all free hats to experience it in full.

Of course it doesn't matter if you're at the very front!

Aaaaand even though I had to work early this morning, I hit up Disneyland and California Adventure last night. Here's some pics...

Wow! All good photos but there are quite a few that are just stunning.

If you're not a pro you should be.

Very nice pictures just keep them coming.

Are there any members here who also collect some books about Walt, Pixar and the parks? And what do you think of them?

I just received these 3 from Amazon and I can't wait to start reading them after my 3 week study period for work.

"The Pixar Touch" was fantastic. I liked "Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination" more than "An American Original", but both were very good.

The "Epcot Explorer's Encyclopedia" is a fun read, though a bit unprofessionally edited. "Walt and the Promise of Progress City" is VERY dry. I could only get somewhat into it. For me, it spends a bit too much time (about 1/3 of the book) on city planning. Which fits the subject at hand, but I just couldn't stay interested.

I can't even count how many others there are that I've read. The Imagineering Field Guys are all great, the Disneyland Encyclopedia is solid as well.

Plus all of the coffee table / oversized books, like the Imagineering books - great stuff. "To Infinity and Beyond" and "Pixar Treasures" are gorgeous.

Thanks, Jungle Jom and everyone else as well for the kind words. If it's any consolation... it is a hobby but I did invest in a professional camera (5D Mark II) to do it.

But the disneyland pictures have lured friends to "borrow me" for favors and such so haha... we'll see what comes of it.

I buy a lot of the Disney/Pixar/Theme Park books but haven't picked those up. Mine are mostly the big art books about the parks and films.

Can't tell you guys how much seeing all of the great pictures on this thread means to me. My vacation (which is 7 months away) cannot come too soon!

When I will add some photos of my own. :clap :clap :clap

Speaking of books, I too have a rather large collection of books. My most recent acquisition is called "HOMECOMING: Destination Disneyland" by Carlene Thie (Ape Pen Publishing) and it has scores of amazing pictures of Disneyland as it was first being built.

And I'm looking foreward to "Poster Art of the Disney Parks" which is coming out next month:

and something i dont get, why would they build a California Themed park, on California???
where they high?

wait so it is different now?

The phrase "putting lipstick on a pig" was often spouted when the changes began at DCA, first starting in Paradise Pier, making it a friendlier atmosphere. The Disneyfied the boardwalk games and gave out DISNEY prizes unique to those locations. That was the very start.

Then they turned the Sun Wheel into Mickey's Fun Wheel (which you've all seen pics of), turning the land into a well... visually friendlier looking place.

Again.. theme was not changed at all. The theme of Paradise Pier was still a troubled one, but the cosmetic changes helped big time.

The giant ugly Orange Stinger swings became Silly Symphony Swings. The maliboomer thrill ride was torn out. Toy Story Midway Mania was added.

Little Mermaid replaced a boring movie starring Whoopi Goldberg. The soundtrack of Paradise Pier used to be Beach Boys played on a pipe organ. Now it's period big band swing, not too different from Main Street.

Gone was the McDonald's location called Burger Invasion (a giant UFO hamburger). Gone was the McDonald's playground called S.S. Rustworthy. The tacky Mulholland Madness madmouse coaster became Goofy's Sky School. The eateries became Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta and Paradise Grill with a stage for live music.

Again... a lot of these are cosmetic changes but overall, the place was cleaned the hell up.

And that was ONLY in Paradise Pier!

We all know that Cars Land was added, 12 acres of Radiator Springs. Even though it only has three rides, they're rides that the ENTIRE family will enjoy.

Then there's the main entrance that was redesigned and rebuilt to reflect a 1920s Los Angeles.
