Big Fat Pass. I was psyched for this. Iron man is in an action pose. War Machine looks like he is about to break into the Safety Dance. I wanted WM to look like this:

iron-man-2-war-machine.jpg

So you could place them back to back or even side by side to give a real action look. This looks like War Machine is bustin' a move while Iron Man is fighting. Disappointing beyond belief.

yeah i have to agree that is ssc wanted this to be a true companion piece it should of had a more action pose.

as far as the piece i think it looks great, a little more dynamic would have been nice. but it looks amazing. he exclusive is horrible and im someone who loves the nameplates with the legendary scale busts.

as far as the price im sure a thousand factors come into it. but bottom line is they can charge it and it will sell. so why shouldnt they. its a buisness afterall. im sure the regular will take a little longer to sell out. but it will in the end. some ollectors will pass because of the price. but a lot of us will _____ about it me included and than order it. once the in hand pics start to appear a lot of people who said they wouldnt spend that much money will cave in and buy.

the good news is with the price point and edition size, at least for iron man it swas 2000 for the regualr which seems a large amount considering the price. it should give people plenty of time to think it over before making the final decision.

i will most likely flex pay them both as the schedule works out well as iron man will finish right around the time that the payments start for war machine. with the amount of pieces i get and the way sideshow ships in unches 600 at once is just to much for me.

Well, with my HT WM, i'll be able to make my own action poses and save hundreds of dollars doing so.

So there Legacy Effects and your lame ass expensive boring pose.

Screw Polystone.

All HT needs to do now is make 1/4 scale poseable figures with the level of quality they're known for and say goodbye to static polystone forever!

Re: war machine...

pretty much. except it would be the cdn equivilant which is pretty close now but who knows at the time of shipping.:( also don't forget about frieght which seems to be in the $20-$30 range now for mostly every piece i get from ssc now.

Ah right, the dollar will change over time. By freight I take it that's the same as shipping? I paid $12 for an Ex Venom back in January.

another option for Canadians (if you live near the border) is to have items shipped to a "middleman" on the US side (there are different companies depending on where you live) who will hold items for you for a minimal charge.

price issues aside, the pose is utterly bizarre! he looks like he's in between action poses. either have him in a heroic, stoic pose, or in an all-out action pose with arms firing and legs in a wider stance. this is neither here nor there.

also, he looks a bit too chubby from certain angles. just wondering how accurate the proportions are, cos i don't remember him looking quite so fat. also, he seems to have green accents. does anyone know if this is screen accurate, or is this creative license on legacy's part? i do like the green.

in any case, this is not a homerun, so i'm perfectly happy sticking to my upcoming ht version.

anybody else in Ca notice that they add $50 for taxes on this? :horror. That makes me really considering getting the reg elsewhere, this state rapes everyone up the ass :gah:. The total would be $621 on the Ex for me...............

that's the only thing I hate about ordering from Sideshow or anyother CA based e-tailers, especially when the CA tax went up.

that is what I don't like about it. The details are great. Selection of pose could have been better.

For a legacy Sideshow piece, this is a fantastic price.
I know for most its out of range and I am very sorry HT doesnt cut it. Yes HT WM offers realist poses but this is from the guys behind the movies. No matter what you guys say, Hot Toys is still a toy.
I am a fan of Hot toys but when I look at my IM collection, I shake my head and ask why the heck did I get these? They are just toys compared to all my great statues. The thing is everyone sees that when they come in the collection room.

Legacy are the guys that make the real stuff. It doesnt get any closer to the actual thing as far as details and actual specs. If you loved WM in the movie you will love seeing him in your collection.

One detail has come to my attention and that is the center chest light. It is actually white and not red as in the upcoming HT version. Again, nothing was missed with Legacy. They are the real deal.

:banghead :banghead

I'm usually ok with Sideshow thinking they know what (we) collectors like, but who OK'ed the "I'm going to go stand over there!" pose? Such is the life collecting SS, they load the bases with solid hits, then pop-out with bases loaded! Bah!

Alas, we can only think of what might have been... Can't believe this is taken from official Legacy sources, yet it doesn't hold a candle (let alone an Ex-Wife) to the HT version in terms of sculpt accuracy. SS's sculpt has no neck.
And what's with the 'I can't fight right now, I'm standing here peeing in my suit' pose?:gah:

Besides the pose (which doesn't really bother me, to be honest), this is an awesome piece, and looks fantastic next to the Mark VI. If Sideshow decide to make a 1:2 War Machine, I will buy that instead of this. Otherwise, this will be bought.

I have to admit the pose has grown on me since yesterday. Admittedly would have been better with an action pose to match Iron Man, but it does look imposing.

Um... no. :lol

As much as I love HT, the maquette is infinitely more accurate., and I can't wait to see more. :yess:

Now where's that backstage pass SS? :impatient:

IMHO I think we are comparing apples to oranges as it relates to a Hot Toy figure and a maquette. Two different products, with price ranges aimed at different audiences.

In my opinion, if you want to purchase the HT WM and pat yourself on the back for all the cash you saved. Great...more power to you. At the end of the day if you think the purchase enhances your collection go for it. Personally I do not believe the 12 inch HT figure has the "omph" or presence of a 20 inch 15lb maquette. For the perceived increased quality of the maquette I'm willing to pay extra for it. I'm fortunate to have the resources to purchase it, and quite frankly, purchasing the HT version and saving some cash isn't worth it to me.
