I didn't bring up the HT pic for comparison, I simply wanted to illustrate the pose I personally would have loved to have seen on the maquette but I completely agree with the apples and oranges sentiment, it's whatever floats your particular boat. I think both scales and interpretations have their cons and pros. Me? I think I'll try to get both if the wallet allows.

For a legacy Sideshow piece, this is a fantastic price.
I know for most its out of range and I am very sorry HT doesnt cut it. Yes HT WM offers realist poses but this is from the guys behind the movies. No matter what you guys say, Hot Toys is still a toy.
I am a fan of Hot toys but when I look at my IM collection, I shake my head and ask why the heck did I get these? They are just toys compared to all my great statues. The thing is everyone sees that when they come in the collection room.

IMHO I think we are comparing apples to oranges as it relates to a Hot Toy figure and a maquette. Two different products, with price ranges aimed at different audiences.

In my opinion, if you want to purchase the HT WM and pat yourself on the back for all the cash you saved. Great...more power to you. At the end of the day if you think the purchase enhances your collection go for it. Personally I do not believe the 12 inch HT figure has the "omph" or presence of a 20 inch 15lb maquette. For the perceived increased quality of the maquette I'm willing to pay extra for it. I'm fortunate to have the resources to purchase it, and quite frankly, purchasing the HT version and saving some cash isn't worth it to me.

sure, statues have more presence due to size. but what's the use of size when u have such a dynamic character PERMANENTLY STUCK in such an UNdynamic, weak pose?

and money's got absolutely nothing to do with it, as far as i'm concerned. i can easily afford the maquette. but the terrible pose and the fat proportions are compete deal breakers to me. sorry.

I don't mind the pose, and I think the piece compliments the Mark VI maquette. Just my opinion. Not every statue has to have the subject in a dynamic pose. If you don't like the "undynamic" pose then stick with your Hot Toys figure and pose the hell out of it.

I made a comment in response to the ongoing debate of which is better the Hot Toys WM or this maquette. The price difference between the two pieces tells me they are really targeted at different markets. There are a number of collectors that would love to purchase WM products. Some of these collectors have no problem spending $150 - $200 for a piece. There are other collectors who are willing and able to spend $500 for a piece, and IMHO this represents a smaller segment of the collector population.

It's no different than Honda & Toyota targeting customers who have no problem purchasing an Accord or Camry costing $20,000 - $35,000. However, a company like Mercedes will target folks who are willing and able to spend $50,000+ on a vehicle. I'm not stating that one group is better than the other, I am simply pointing out that the manufacturers in my examples are targeting different audiences.

Lastly, I think you may have mistaken me for someone who is trying to convince you to purchase this maquette or who cares whether or not you purchase this maquette. I could care less whether or not you purchase this maquette...really....I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. What you do with your money is absolutely, positively irrelevant to me. Sorry.

Meh. It looks if you put them back to back with IM in the back it'd make more sense, like WM is walking towards his next target while IM is firing but then you're hiding a $500 statue to make another look right. Didn't order this, canceled the Mark IV since they don't make sense together and rumors are that we'll get a Mark V 1:2 and a War Machine 1:2 I'd better save my pennies.

Are you a proud owner of the 1:2 Iron Man Mike?

No. I canceled it after the rush of complaints and breakage reports. After more started coming forward with pieces that were alright it was always on my to-do to go back and get it but like most collectors, you get flooded with new stuff so the passed stuff continues to get ignored. I will get one eventually but right now I'm setting my sights on the new stuff coming up and if that Mark V is coming I definitely want to be ready for that.

Sideshow is really getting on my nerves. Every time I check the website for new items it always shows the exclusive ones SOLD OUT. How do you get your hands on the exclusive premium format figurines before they get sold out?:dunno

^^^^go on the website at 10am

During this month, July, new items shows up at 12:50pm(Eastern) to like 1pm. I believe its 10am or 9:50am in California.

Before this month, and maybe again after this month, it usually came out at like 8:50pm(Eastern) to 9pm(Eastern). Minus 3 hours if you live in California(Pacific time).

oh, i fully intend to. :D

oversensitive much? looks like it.

my response quoted yours directly cos u did sound a little patronising: "...you want to pat yourself on the back for all the cash you saved... etc". if u did not mean it to be patronising then i retract what i said earlier in response to u.

and my "sorry" wasn't a glib apology to u. it was a way of saying, "sorry sideshow/legacy, u guys dropped the ball on the pose and the proportions." your assumptions were exactly that. assumptions. take it easy.

I think we both misunderstood one another's post. I wasn't patting myself on the back for all the cash I saved. In fact, I plan on purchasing the maquette which means I will be spending more money than if I purchased the Hot Toys version. My point was that in this instance, I would rather pay a premium for the maquette than save money and purchase the Hot Toys version. And there is nothing wrong with that. Conversely, I don't have any hate for anyone who elects to purchase the Hot Toys version. If you are one of those people who thinks it's absolutely outrageous to pay $500+ for a statue that's perfectly fine. But don't s*%t on me, or try to dampen the enthusiasm of potential buyers, just because you don't like the price or can't afford it. That comment was not direct at you Tyler, it was meant as a general comment.

I owe you an apology, after reading your post I felt that you were under the impression I was trying to convince people that they had to purchase the Maquette. I never want to tell anyone about how they should spend their money...it's none of my business. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
