Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

FINALLY saw the trailer today! I cannot believe they used that cool unused song from Batman & Robin from Smashing Pumpkins. GREAT song and perfect for this one!

Yes the music in the trailer is fantastic - do you know what that tune is
called? is it released by Smashing Pumpkins?

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

I would like to see the movie AT LEAST 2.5 hours.

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

The proposed 12 hr mini series would've been awesome.

Yes, it's Smashing Pumpkins and it has been confirmed it will not be in the movie as it will not go with the time when the movie was made. So they are being pretty damned accurate!! Nice to see that!

Here is the Firstshowing.net live blog of the Watchman panel!!!!:

Comic-Con 08 Live: Warner Brothers' Watchmen Panel!

To bad Alan is bat-^^^^ crazy and has had a falling out with everyone in the known world. Zack and everyone really wanted him to come and work on the movie with them, but he turned them down. I would have loved to see Alan's name in the credits! It's really to sad that certain things have happened over the years. I'm sure collaborating with him would have put just a little something extra special into the film. :monkey2

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

It doesn't make you bat ^^^^ crazy to not want to work with Hollywood. The man simply doesn't care for having his material adapted/mutilated. Between this and his beard, people, fans even, are so eager to put him down.

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

No, I understand that he was screwed over quite a few time, especially the latest stuff with The V movie and the Marvel stuff with Joe Quesada. I'm just surprised that he can't want to be in on the circle of people making this amazing movie. Try to be a man and reconcil stuff. But I was never in a position to have my baby destroyed and molested and murdered, so I can't really understand.

And sorry, but when you keep a beard like that, you are bat-^^^^ crazy. Hell, Rob Zombie looks more sane than Alan Moore does, and that's just wrong! :lol

*SIGH*

Moore is interested in telling stories, his stories by his rules. He wrote the story he wanted, did the things he wanted in the comic that could only be done in a comic and he moved on to other projects. He's not into selling out or compromising his story for money or self promotion. He is an artist interested in working in his chosen medium, not whoring for Hollywood.

I know you're joking, but judging people based on something as silly as the way they wear their hair is just wrong.

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

I know and he even told some studios to just give the money that would have went to him to the artists that did work for hiom on the comics instead of him, which is pretty cool.

And I'm definitely not attacking him for doing so, as I'm sure I would and plenty of people would, but he did sell tons of his best stuff off to Hollywood. And I do thank him for doing it too, as we definitely would not have some really amazing movies if they had tried to come to him today, mainly From Hell, V for Vendetta and of course, this truly amazing masterpiece Watchmen!!

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

From Hell the film is a terrible mess as is League. V is a bit better but still distorts and mangles the soul of Moore's work into something else. I can only hope that Watchmen avoids the same fate. Everything I've seen and heard looks promising, though the change of the climax has me worried. We shall see 3.6.09.

Is WATCHMEN really THE *******?

I guess I'm a casual comic fan. It is by far my favorite artistic medium after film, but I don't feel worthy calling myself a die-hard fan, since I haven't read many of what are considered the greatest. Everyone goes on and on about how great and groundbreaking WATCHMEN is. I'm a fan of simple Golden Age and Silver Age stories because of the characters and the classic era they represent, and I also enjoy more recent classics like KINGDOM COME and NEW FRONTIER. However, I'm only a little familiar with the Watchmen story and characters, but I thought the trailer looked badass. Now from some TRUE comic fans, is the story really as profound and moving as everybody makes it out to be? It is on my to-read list, and I don't want to be dissapointed.

It's the Citizen Kane of comics. There's before Watchmen and after, it was a watershed story in the medium, as were several others than began a move to deeper, more complex, mature level of storytelling.

Here's a great essay and discussion about its merits as a classic I came across the other day. https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=289981

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

I just heard from G4 that Doctor Manhattan will appear in the movie completely nude, never thought they'd be that faithful to the comic.

All the Watchmen hoopla made me pull out my copy to refresh my memory. There's so many scenes shown both in the trailer and in the posters above that are straight from the comic. Zach Snider is really trying his best to recreate the book down to exact detail.

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

Yeah, he said on G4TV that tried to follow it pretty much to the T.

And did you see his Story Board/War Room??!! It was insane!! It looked like had had story boarded every single page of the movie to shoot it exact!!!! God, I can't wait!!!!
