Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

It's not officially announced (yet), but... Hot Toys is making WATCHMEN figures!! :google :rock :rock

And Adam from DarkShadowCollectibles and I spoke with a WB rep at a party on Saturday who has seen the latest rough-cut. He said, "this is going to make every comic book superhero movie before it look silly... and that includes DARK KNIGHT."

:eek

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

By the way, the screen-used fullsized Owl Ship they had on display at the WB booth? AMAZING. The inside of it is so damned detailed that you'd think the thing could really fly.

I need to upload my pics.

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

Can't be much more than DC Direct wants for their crappy figures.

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

I just heard from G4 that Doctor Manhattan will appear in the movie completely nude, never thought they'd be that faithful to the comic.

All the Watchmen hoopla made me pull out my copy to refresh my memory. There's so many scenes shown both in the trailer and in the posters above that are straight from the comic. Zach Snider is really trying his best to recreate the book down to exact detail.

Yeah, he said on G4TV that tried to follow it pretty much to the T.

And did you see his Story Board/War Room??!! It was insane!! It looked like had had story boarded every single page of the movie to shoot it exact!!!! God, I can't wait!!!!

I just finished reading an interview about the movie and I'll type parts of it verbatim below. Personally I think there's plenty to be concerned about as far as changes, but overall I think Snyder is trying his best. It sounds as though the studio is going to get a lot of what they want as well though....

"Sure, there have been changes. The catastrophic climax is different. Provactive bits, like a timely subplot about alternative fuels, have been added. And a pirate/horror comic book that was threaded ironically throughout the Moore/Gibbons narrative is set to become a separate animated DVD. But Snyder's film clearly seeks to emulate the comic's arch-yet dramatic tenor, it's time shifting, perspective switching storytelling, and it's richly realized alterna-New York. The Gunga Diner, the "Who Watches the Watchmen?" graffiti, the blood-splashed smiley face button evoking a doomsday clock-it's all there.

Now comes the hard part: keeping it there. Snyder's current three hour cut won't be unspooling in theaters next March. Robinov says 2 hours and 25 minutes is more realistic...The studio might be gutsy enough to back Watchmen, but it wants to make a profit too.

...Snyder hopes the fanboys understand that even with these changes, no other version of the film that preceded him dared to be this faithful. And as he spends the next eight months slicing and fine tuning, he prays his fellow Watchmenphiles will cut him a little slack."

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

All I know is, if anyone has any copy of the footage that was shown or knows a way to see it.... please let me know. I missed this panel and was PISSED that I did. Also, if anyone has an extra Rorschach poster or knows someone who does... I would love to get my hands on that. :lol

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

I am gonna start the 2nd read of Watchmen today:rock

I expect to have read it a least 5 times by the time the movie comes out :lol

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

Dude, I bet your mind was blown when you read through it the first time... :lol

It was much better than I thought it would be. Usually when something has so much hype around it is usually a let down, but it did live up to what people say about it.

I rushed through it in a couple days because I wanted to get to the end so bad :lol

I am actually looking forward to the 2nd read more than the 1st, I know I missed a bunch, this time knowing how its ends will give me time to appreciated the book more.

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

The theater EXPLODED when this trailer hit... people were loving it. Even got applause.

It looks PERFECT, every shot like the comic come to life. I really can't wait to see this movie, I'm still astonished to see it coming out at all. It seemed like an impossible task, but it looks like Snyder is doing great work on it. And PERFECT song choice, that song was really wasted on that Batman soundtrack. Here it works much better.

Totally agree with you Josh. I found this on IMDB:
The lyrics of the song are reordered and edited for the trailer, apparently to better synchronize the words with particular images. "Send a heartbeat to / The void that cries through you" is how both the trailer and the song start, but the music then jumps to the third verse, "The pale princess of a palace cracked / And now the kingdom come" mixed with images of Silk Spectre for "pale princess," and Ozymandias for "kingdom come." Then the music jumps back to the first verse "The world is lost and blown / And we are flesh and blood disintegrate" with a second shot of Silk Spectre synced with "flesh and blood" and a shot of Dr. Manhattan with "disintegrate." The last line of the verse and the first half of the chorus are dropped, and the song goes straight to the second half of the chorus ("And in your darkest hour / I hold secrets flame / We can watch the world devoured in its pain").

Big kudos to whoever edited the trailer and had these lyrics from the song in mind. Looking at the words and re-watching the trailer, it fits perfectly!! Not that it wasn't perfect before as the trailer blew my mind!

Re: WATCHMEN Movie Discussion (SPOILERS)

You are right on UT, that song choice RULES... I can't hear that song now without thinking of the trailer, they are forever fused in my mind.

And Irish, badass poster bro.... I love that they recreated the classic posters like that, very cool idea. :rock
