I have the original comics, the leather bound slipcase edition, a 1st edition GN, the Absolute Edition and an extra reading copy of the GN. I guess buying another HC version won't hurt. :lol

Maybe if you're nice, King, I'll show you a pic of it.

What if I say please?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. :lol

By the way, have you heard that DC is releasing a reprint of At Midnight, All The Agents (CHAPTER 1) in February for the original $1.50 cover price as part of the promo for the movie? I think that's pretty damn cool. So now we'll have "reading copies" of at least that individual issue too. :duff

KD, I thought you already had a copy of the GN.

If not, PM me your address closer to Christmas and I'll send you one. Serious.

:lol

Yeah I do have a copy of the graphic novel, but not the hard cover.

Can you post some pix of the absolute edition?

I'll take some pics of mine sometime. In the meantime, here are some pretty cool ones from an Amazon listing (including one which shows a size/color comparison with the standard GN):

Awesome about it being reprinted. I don't have my own copy of The Watchmen, I originally read it through my cousin who has the original comics. I'll definitely be looking to get the Absolute Edition once it hits in November! :rock

My wife is waiting on me to get one so she can read it. :lol

Awesome! Glad I was able to post that link before some of you spent way too much money on the current printing! :duff

BTW, TFAW also has the Diamond/Previews (Comics Shop) Exclusive version of Dave Gibbons' upcoming WATCHING THE WATCHMEN book for pre-order as well for $40. This version of the book will have additional material and also a Dave Gibbons signature insert:

It says it ships September 24, but I'm not sure if that's accurate as the standard edition of the book comes out in mid-late October. But I ordered one, of course.

TFAW is a good place for all kinds of WATCHMEN stuff (including the toys). They even have the standard TPB graphic novel for 50% off at $9.99. :rock

I only have the paperback. Got it shortly after I heard Zack was doing the film...and people talking about how great it was surely helped my intrest. Glad I got it too. A really great read. Something about it....

It's because you know when you're reading it that it is wholly unique, ground-breaking and about as dense and complex as anything in the medium could ever possibly be.

I've read it all the way through at least a dozen or more times in the past 20+ years... and I take something new away from it each time. I even discover new things I'd never noticed or gotten the previous dozens or times or two decades. It's really pretty incredible in that way.

As I explained to a female friend of mine who became interested after the trailer but then felt intimidated by the book after just flipping through it, "This is not something you read in just one sitting... it's something you have to absorb through many." And I really believe that.

I read it so fast the first time....im sorry but with the Freighter, the side stories...I just wanted to get on. The next time I read the whole way through, and it worked better that way.

I remember not being able to wait every month for the next issue to come out when the comics were released. It was excruciating. And when a new issue did come out I would reread the previous issues first.

Damn, that must have sucked big time Batty. I couldnt imagine having to wait an entire year to finish Watchmen.

It really was so different than any other comic book out at the time. I was hooked big time.

Irish - Thanks for posting that info about the reprinting of Absolute Watchmen. I never picked it up for a couple of reasons; I have a copy of the Graphitti Designs Hardcover/slipcase version w/the same bonus material and the absolute editions just seemed too oversized to me. I prefer my hardbound comic books and TPB's to be the same size as the standard issues.

However after seeing the comparison pics posted of the difference between the hardcover and the restored color treatment of the Absolute edition, I think I'm going to have to reconsider. It's officially pre-ordered. Between the original twelve issues, the Graphitti Designs hardcover and the Absolute Edition I think I should be covered.

I agree. But I was a bit "luckier" than you in that I didn't start picking it up until around CHAPTER 5 (the whole symmetrical comic panels thing just intrigued me) and then I was hooked forever.

Yes, waiting a month between issues was a ^^^^^. The closest thing to that I've experienced since was Y: THE LAST MAN.

Alan Moore Unsupportive of Snyder's Watchmen
Source:Los Angeles Times September 18, 2008

With the 20th Century Fox lawsuit against Warner Bros. over Zack Snyder's Watchmen still unresolved, the Los Angeles Times' "Hero Complex" blog recently interviewed comic creator and author Alan Moore and got his opinion on the movie that many have felt might finally get one of Moore's stories right. Moore apparently hasn't had his opinion about Hollywood swayed or changed, because he isn't just against the adaption of his graphic novel finally coming to the big screen, but seemingly against movies in general.

In the interview, Moore says that he finds "film in its modern form to be quite bullying," and as far as the much-publicized lawsuit, Moore seems to be thrilled about the legal problems surrounding the film which is due out on March 6, 2009, two months after the trial date that's been set for the case. "Will the film even be coming out? There are these legal problems now, which I find wonderfully ironic. Perhaps it's been cursed from afar, from England, and I can tell you that I will also be spitting venom all over it for months to come."

Then again, Moore has never watched any of the film adaptations of his books, and Zack Snyder probably shouldn't feel too bad that Moore isn't positive or supportive of the hard work he's been putting into making Watchmen faithful to Moore's original work.
