Ultimately, the story is HIS baby... soooo... to him, the movie being made is like someone punching his baby.
It's not that simple. He was actually once more than open to the idea of a WATCHMEN movie and even endorsed the Sam Hamm script, which was basically the worst thing ever (this movie is 1,000 x better and more faithful than that dreck would have been). Moore is just a near psychopath these days. Of course, if they turned one of my better works into a movie like LXG I might be too. :lol

League of Extraordinary Gentleman the movie is pure crap. They really ^^^^ed that adaptation up. Funny thing is, I bet Alan Moore would be horrified to know that what got me reading his stuff was From Hell the movie.:lol:lol:lol

I didn't read "League" until after seeing the movie, and I went from being unimpressed with the film to being angry at it.

I'll go one better - I didn't even bother to see the movie ;) Eh, like I said before (I think?? - maybe that was somewhere else I said it :lol), he's like the Stephen King of graphic novelists - almost impossible to create a truly great film from his work, there are just too many levels, each of which is pretty much essential to the overall point of the story. V for Vendetta was the best, IMO, but still suffered from some flaws in the process of adaptation.

And now that the baby punching fun is over, off to put my own baby to bed :)

I still really loved the movie and have hardly any issues with it whatsoever. I think it was the most enjoyable comic film that I have seen yet, but then again I am kinda messed up in the head. :lol

I still think TDK is the best comic film ever made, as far as being not based on any real concrete story arc. But as far as comic films that were based on actual graphic novels or story issues, this movie trumps them all IMO.

Watchmen was by far the most visually rich comic film I've ever seen, and the most faithful to source material in being based on a definitive story. To be frank, the Watchmen movie was more faithful to the GN than the movies JAWS and Jurassic Park were to their novel origins. I'm pleased with Watchmen.

Glad to see you back, IJ! :rock :rock :rock

Okay, so...

Comedian would shoot the baby.

Rorschach would eat the baby (if it needed punishment).

Nite Owl II would gush over the baby.

Silk Spectre II would want to give the baby up for adoption.

Ozymandias would feed the baby to Bubastis.

And... Dr. Manhattan would teleport the baby to the Moon. Without oxygen.

Dr. Manhattan would flick his wrist and vaporize the baby. Rorschach would throw the baby down an elevator shaft.

I don't think any of the characters would

History of Violence, Road to Perdition, and American Splendor still remain at the top for my graphic novel adaptations list.

I am still waiting to hear how Watchmen = propoganda for the new world order. :monkey3 :rotfl

:sick:sick:sick:sick:sick

The viral campaign while elaborate and entertaining still isn't/wasn't enough to successfully pave the way for this film. It really is a difficult story to explain and navigate if you have no familiarity with the source material; I don't see how that could have been avoided.

I would say the viral campaign wasn't all that successful for Watchmen. In the wake of TDK where they had the Joker as if he were actually alive and moving from place to place coordinating things, it was enough to build a hype from even non-comic book fans. People were showing up to things who had never seen Batman Begins but got caught up in the excitement and some where even looking to scalp prizes on eBay. With Watchmen having the story take place in the 1980 it made virals slightly more difficult and while it was entertaining for fans of the source material already I don't think it captured the attention of many casual viewers or at least enough to fill the seats. When I went to see it on Friday night the theater wasn't packed by any means.
