oh no...watch out before the fanboys start swarming. so what did your son think about it???

Feck the fanboys, it's my opinion. I wasn't shocked, awed, or very impressed. Some cool effects, that's it. My son liked Rorschach, but the movie didn't impress him much either. I thought Rorschach stole the show.

I'm really curious but what is so wrong with full frontal male nudity that isnt also wrong with full frontal female nudity? A body is a body. All that's different is what skin and muscle goes where.

I'm not into seeing other men's "hydraulics."

that's cool man. i think the best line in the movie was the line Rorshach said in prison. "i'm not stuck in here with you, you're stuck in here with me!!!"

Ok so you're uncomfortable with seeing something you yourself have but are fine with looking at what you dont have. Check. Did you check the source material ahead of time because that would have told you right there you would have been uncomfortable. The nudity and violence (mostly) is all from the source material.

if you read his first post you would've noticed he said he hasn't.

I like what I like, I don't what I don't. Sue me.

There wasn't full frontal on the woman, if there was was, I probably would have been uncomfortable with that.

I didn't mention violence.

WTF, check?

i find it a little strange that people are trying to push the full frontal male nudity on us just because it was in the book. i don't think it was really important to include that into a movie...nor do i think its necessary to have clamshells on screen either. i just think frull frontal should be left to X rated movies or at least given the NC-17 rating. and don't tell me that the filmmakers couldn't have found a clever way to hide it...

Actually if you ever watch IFC they did a special about nudity at the box office and literally the difference between an R rating and an NC-17 rating is an erection. A clamshell as you put it is almost immediately given an NC-17 because the MPAA definitely differs between bush and kitty. So whether it makes you uncomfortable a dong doesn't necessarily garner an NC-17. It would have been easy to go covered for Manhattan, aluded sex with Dan and Laurie, "shadowed" violence throughout to get a PG-13 and compete with other Superhero movies but in reality it sounded like from everyone involved that they were more concerned about bringing the GN to life as close as possible so that would include all facets and appendenges. Manhattan feels no connection to humanity and disgards their need for clothing. Therefore he is all hanging out. To have props hide it or shadow it definitely just heads down away from the truest form whether you like it or not.

none of this makes the movie any better. if you notice i said ALL full frontal should warrant an NC-17 rating. taking out the nudity in this movie won't take away the R rating too. the Punisher movies seem to do well without showing stuff and the latest one is hardcore as it gets.
~~~to everyone else. i've read the book twice, i've seen the movie once. i don't need a deep character or book analysis anymore. its really starting to get annoying that everyone feels the necessity to lecture others on the "deconstruction" of whatever, just because we don't like the movie, book, or Dr. Manhatton's schlong.
How many of you went with your partners? My wife really enjoyed the movie, but during the sex scene I could feel her stare as I could not manage to wipe the huge smile of my face.
I see that our thread and actual discussion on the film is being sullied by The Nudity Police™.
Someone should call the internet police to get them to talk to the nudity policy. :lecture
Seriously are we all 10 years old? I just don't get it. :dunno
Back on topic... I know this will be in the forthcoming longer cuts, but I was extremely annoyed that this particular bit was cut from the Theatrical version:
Comedian: "You people. You hear Moloch's back in town and you get your panties all in a bunch. You think catching him matters?"
Rorschach: "Justice matters."
Comedian: "Justice? Justice is coming to all of us... no matter what the ^^^^ we do"
I really can't believe that was cut... and it saved all of what, 10 seconds? :huh
I also hope they add more of the therapy sessions. I liked that part in the book for some reason.
Like I said earlier, I never read the book, but the Comedian and Rorschach characters were very convincingly played by the actors. As far as the nudity, who cares? It didn't detract from the film, here is a character that had outgrown the need for anything human,I'm sure at some point he would even outgrow the need for a body at all.
I don't see why that couldn't have been kept. An awesome and poignant bit of dialogue that, while brief, captures both characters well in that little exchange.
The best dialogue in the entire book, and my biggest disappointment with how the film handled the source material. Why did they have to change the way Rorschach killed the child rapist? I've said it before, what made that scene immense in the book was that it was calculated, it was very smooth; Rorschach planned how he wanted to kill that man, that he wanted to take from him, see fear in his eyes, and make him suffer as much as foreseeably possible, listening to his cries echoing through the streets as he was burnt alive. In the movie, plunging the cleaver into his head makes it seem extemporaneous and an act of sudden, blind rage, as opposed to having been carefully planned. Kitty Genovese's murder could have stayed in as well, since it provides the origin for Rorschach's mask which otherwise remains a mystery. The conversation with Dr. Long, the explanation as to how Rorschach was born, tumbles both Dr. Long and the reader inexorably down the same dark path where Kovacs wandered off into the moral wilderness and reemerged as Rorschach. An immense pity this wasn't seen in the film. I hope and pray that the director's cut will see to at leas some of this.
im not sure if it was mentioned before but whoever was playing Rorshach looked so much like steve nash, i laughed so hard at the movie theatre
Not seeing that
Where was this shot:
Guess it's in a deleted scene
I just want to add that the credits intro to this movie has to be the best I have ever seen. I loved the Last supper shot at Sally's retirement party and
the song was perfect. I will definitely be downloading the soundtrack
Agreed, I was so impressed by the Kennedy assassination scene. That was recreated so well. That scene alone must have taken so long to shoot and prepare.
