As crazy as this sounds, part of me would genuinely like to see some kind of Watchmen spin-off/prequel/sequel, JUST to see what they could come up with. Then again, I wouldn't mind seeing a series of one shot/spin-off comics based in the Watchmen universe; just not a full-blown Watchmen 2, which would be a horrible idea.

Looking at the history behind DC and their movie adaptations any tie ins would have already been produced and out there before the movie hit to capture the general interest.

Movie finished number 2 overall though a lot higher than I expected:

1 Race to Witch Mountain
2 Watchmen
3 The Last House on the Left
4 Taken
5 Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail
6 Slumdog Millionaire
7 Paul Blart: Mall Cop
8 He's Just Not That Into You
9 Coraline
10 Miss March

Watchmen disintegrated 67 percent to an estimated $18.1 million for $86 million in ten days, trailing all previous superhero movies that debuted in the $50 million range through the same point. For perspective, 300, which Watchmen was oft compared to, fell 54 percent to $32.9 million in its second weekend (for a $129.2 million total), and, among major comic book movies, only Hellboy II: The Golden Army and Hulk had steeper drop-offs. The weekend further cemented Watchmen's status as a movie with much more limited appeal than other superhero pictures, rooted in its non-mainstream source material and its diffuse storyline and marketing. Watchmen's 124 IMAX theaters held a bit better than the rest. They were down 58 percent, accounting for an estimated $2.3 million of the weekend and $9.5 million of the total.

My wife wants to see it again to look for Easter Eggs since we have Watchmen cash so I'll probably take a third viewing soon...

Ugh that list of films (not including Slumdog or Coraline) shows how much we are lacking in taste as a culture. Numbers don't mean much to me but it sucks that the American movie audience couldn't latch onto this modern classic (that's right) with all of it's relevant and timely material in there. This film is awesome, has anyone made the Bladerunner correlation yet?

Yeah a few pages back a couple of board members made the relation to Blade Runner. Its destined I think to follow that same trend.

Well, Boys, I got to see Watchmen at the IMAX this weekend and I *really* liked it.
I have NOT read the novel yet, but am excited to do so now! I'll read it next after I finish my current book.

And I will definitely be seeing it again.

Blade Runner is one of my fave films. I'm gonna go search for the correlation...

*meep*

I wanted to wait until after the movie.
It was a conscience decision I made!

Oh and in regards to the Big Blue Schlong?
On a mature level:
It added to my understanding his lack of "humanity".

On an immature level:
After being bombarded, for years, with gratuitous woman anatomy camera shots/angles/scenes, I was most receptive!

:D

We got to the theater really late about 10 minutes before it began because we didn't expect a full house so we had to sit in the third to front row....on that IMAX screen that was even more jarring but only the first time. :lol

My IMAX viewing was impacted by the idiots that brought their crying babies!
Totally unbelievable. :banghead

I wish I owned a theater. I would turn back every ^^^^er that tried to bring a child into these types of movies.

A couple brought a child to f'n Friday the 13th when I went to see it, WTF!!!! :monkey4

When we saw F13, at about 1:15 in the morning during the movie a baby started crying. You have your friggin baby out at 1 in the morning in a slasher film. Either stay at home or don't have babies.

Same thing happened when I went to go see Horton Hears a Who?, I was so annoyed!!!!:monkey3 Seriously though...babies and movies are a bad idea, get a damn sitter for two hours! My wife and I have never brought our kids when they were babies to the movies. It's just inconsiderate to others. Not bad enough you have to contend with the other idiots who are constantly on the phone or using laser pointers on the screen. OR the time someone brought a barking dog when I saw LOTR The Two Towers! That's pretty much when I gave up going to the movies!

There was a baby when I saw F13 too.

And there has been kids when I saw Saw and God know what else.

It makes me want to turn the movie onto those parents.
