Saw the express notice in my mailbox and nearly broke a finger trying to click on it. Oh well, congrats to whoever got them.

Wow! Bitter! If Sideshow thinks there are no more of an item left they close the wait list, and probably delete it. Then they find a few of the items in the warehouse; the wait list is already gone, so what do they do? Suggestions?

Suggestion 1: Keep better inventory. With today's available software, there's no excuses 'finding' two of these. Just like there was no excuse recently when they 'found' two Easterling Soldiers and the first newsletter subscribers that read they were available, snatched them up. I was on that Sideshow cancelled wait list reservation as well.

Suggestion 2: Don't close the waitlist. Does it hurt to keep a waitlist open? Seriously, it's just a damn database. They should archive that information anyway. RAID controllers do it automatically.

Suggestion 3: Bitter???....yes. I am an avid collector and like everyone here, would like the chance to add to my several thousand dollar Sideshow collection. My third suggestion is for Sideshow to hold a silent drawing of past LOTR PF purchasers (if the item available is LOTR), and offer them the item EXACTLY like a wait list reservation. Sideshow sends an e-mail to the first drawn from the list and gives them three days to respond 'yes' or they move to the next name.

ANYTHING is better than the right place at the right time, first come method.
Now please make sure you pass this information on to Sideshow since you asked like you were interested. :rotfl :chew :rotfl

What does the fact that you have a several thousand dollar collection have to do with anything?

I completely agree with you tom I think 2nd chance would of been the better place for these to have landed. I'm not to keen on the express updates as they seem to only favor those who are at a computer at home or work all the time. I work all day (no computer access) and have class 4 days after work so that pretty much counts me out :( but I am always around for newsletter time

Or they could have put them up as second chance items in the newsletter tomorrow.

That way, if anybody missed out, it would have been their own fault for not reading the newsletter fast enough, rather than being the fault of their internet service provider for not delivering the mail faster than the other guy.

Guess it makes him special. :lol

I agree second chance would have been better. Since I have mine it doesn't hurt me but I would rather see second chance offers in the newsletter.

Well, if you want to stay up until 3 AM to read the newsletter, you have to be rewarded somehow. :D

Salute!

Ohhh God....are we *****ing about something else Sideshow has done....give it a f****** rest already.

Also...in relation to the likeness to Viggo...he purposely told the Weta sculptors that he didn't want the face to resemble him...he felt the character should stand on it's own and not reflect an individual actor.

Now back to your scheduled *****ing :D

I know. It's getting absurd now isnt it. :lol

I dont think this is such a bad idea. Just wish I would have checked my email earlier. Maybe they will find a Balrog or Cave Troll and offer them up.

The Balrog was last weeks express update.

Mission accomplished! :lol I guess pretty well every actor must have had the same conversation with the Weta sculptors! :rotfl

I am not sure if you are serious or not, but it was confirmed; or un-confirmed that this is not the case.

I think it was last year's Fan/Spooktacular. :wave

I am a business owner that with most of my local vendors, establishes a relationship with those I do repeated business with. I can honestly say that I spend the most $ with Sideshow of any vendor I do repeated business with and don't have a personal relationship with. When doing local business, sometimes barter is a powerful tool. This is not tangible doing internet business.

If you have invested thousands in Sideshow items, wouldn't you want the same chance to secure a hard to find item as say someone that has never spent a dime with Sideshow? Anything less than a fair chance wouldn't be fair, now would it? :chew :emperor

I remember during that whole Sideshow Weta collaboration there were some sculpts that were dead on for likeness then some that totally missed the mark. It was an exciting time to collect during those years. Maybe someday if The Hobbit is made by Weta we can go down the Sideshow Weta road again!

It was a fun ride back then :D

Kodiak, you make some EXCELLENT points.

These things are certainly not too kind on those of us who bothered to sign up for the relevant waitlists back in '03 or '04, and have patiently collected SS/W for five years or more. You can't cancel virtually ALL waitlist reservations for the SS/W items -- as Sideshow did in a fell swoop, late in '05 -- and then have such long-gone pieces just pop up, and make them available to everyone who signed up for the newsletter in the meantime, with the only criterion being the agility of their POP server, and their chance of accidentally checking the e-mail at the right time.

The Maul PF exclusive was given out as a priority preorder to those of us who have previously purchased the SW PFs. Is it too much to ask that long-gone grails from the SS/W line be offered to the same kind of collectors as a second chance, at the very least?

Unfortunately Tom, some would still complain that there is still an unfair advantage for anyone not on dial-up or who live close to the servers. There is no method know to mankind that will be accepted as fair by every single person on Earth!

Except a silent lottery of newsletter subscribers with names drawn just like a Wait List Reservation. Private sale to previous buyers of the line. Nobody would know about the item except those contacted via e-mail.

My beef is either myself or another long time wait list reservation holder was passed over to purchase this item with the chance possibly given to someone that has just started collecting. No excuse for not knowing what stock you have with today's automated systems and software. So it brings us to the point of how can Sideshow improve their process. Read my three suggestions and those of others that have any business sense and have posted their ideas.

Keep in mind, I and the others that have valid complaints about the way Sideshow does business can help make a better ordering system and policy for Sideshow and everyone that purchases from them. If you truly love the company, wouldn't you want to help make them a better one? That's why I bother posting my suggestions.

Well, if it makes you feel any better about who got one....I signed up for the Aragorn Wait List the day the wait list was available for it!...
