Statue Weta: The Hobbit - Gandalf The Grey

paint looks better than the average weta churnout, might get it when i have my new display.

Is this and bilbo in scale with the ss lotr maquette series?

The paint is fantastic as usual from Weta.

Scale wise he's on par with the SS pieces.

Beautiful. I will have to seriously think about getting this. I can't afford to collect every character like in the good old days, but I might just buy the three wizards assuming they make Radagast & Saruman? I like an old Blibo at this scale too maybe at his desk. I was never much for the likeness on the SSW one & he is far too expensive on ebay

Its a very good looking piece. The photos got a bit more washed out with the light than I'd like but trying to darken them didn't work either. So while maybe not some of my best work I think it shows just how good this version of Gandalf came out. I would highly suggest getting this and when the other two Wizards comes out it will look like a great trio.

Thanks Josh for sharing! The new Gandalf is definitely at the top of my favourite LOTR/Hobbit statues atm. It looks good at any angle, indoors or outdoors. A def must-have for any fan.

No problem. (A little hacked photobucket is making them looked a little more washed out than they really came out) He is really good and Weta nailed this one big time This to me totally captures that moment where Gandalf talks to Bilbo about going on an adventure. A must have for sure.

One of them shows up I think in either some of my GTG, Bilbo, or mini-Strider statue. They will make an appearance.

Agreed! No reason to doubt it. They have a proven track record of giving us all the main characters in statue form such as Faramir, Eomer, Denethor,...

Yeah thanks for the triumvirate image. Decision, decisions. Still holding onto the maquettes I have but losing interest, the GTG maquette is clearly one of the weaker of the line...

The gtg ex is the BEST by far of the entire maquette line, and my favorite statue short of the repainted arwen. The detail, sculpt, paint, pose..everything just defines gandalf. And as a standalone piece - one of the best released by sideshow.

Talk about extreme opposites, frodo_eyes got nothing on you
