Well put, defeats the whole purpose of the Weta Calendar if the actual promotion goes by NZ time but the boxes are revealed by individual timezones.

I changed the timezone on my ipad to be new zealand time. What the hell, you know.

I'm guessing these sales are not meant specifically for people on the boards, I assume they are trying to appeal to a broader base hence it was on their facebook site.

Why wouldn't I be on the Facebook Weta calendar page and keep checking here or SSW? That makes no sense.

Regardless, will just monitor and see future days through the forums, other folks who are not part of the forums and monitoring the Weta calendar on the facebook page, hopefully they will resolve these issues.

As much as I would love the Weta statue, a lack of funds and space has lead me to decide to settle for the Bridge Direct version at 1/7th the price. Now I can hang Smaug from my ceiling next to the Fell-beasts that are over my guestroom bed, and those things already terrorize my gf's kids when they stay here. Muahahahahaha....

Yeah Magnus emailed me and said I was lucky, I know I am. I am a little conflicted and feel bad about taking advantage of the offer but it wasn't my mistake either. I am glad they are honoring their mistake and gained a lot of respect for Weta. Already had respect but I haven't ordered directly from them until this Balrog went up for preorder. This discount ordeal will certainly have some repercussions in the future and that is unfortunate, but it's always an evolving balancing act.

I will say though I am disappointed in the amount of complaining I see over at Shadow and Flame about this. This 15% off thing all wasn't entirely fair but that is because what people feel was unfair was an oversight and mistake. I don't think that means Weta should have to extend the mistake to everyone, or that people who missed the discount entirely on the day are entitled to it again or that it should be applied to past orders.

Of course, easy for me to say as I lucked out and the only harm done was losing my place in line and ending up with a higher edition numbered piece. Both fine by me. Had I not been lucky with Smaug, or the Balrog had an NRD too, or weta had a no cancelation policy, I would be a little bummed I missed the deal but wouldn't be causing a fuss about it and sending them heated emails.

I agree. I think you will see a change over time as most of the other companies have done. Is what it is. They make great stuff and I'll keep buying.

I emailed regarding Balrog and was told it was not possible on existing orders. I didn't want to order again and lock up funds so I just bit the bullet. At least I'll get it sooner than later. Smaug hurts a little more but it is what it is.

Indeed! People just ordering for the sake of ordering ends up causing these issues.

I didn't even bother. I used a lot of WD and got him for $265 shipped so I wasn't stressing on that. Smaug does hurt a bit more.
