No problem.

I can't wait to see what they have at comic-con in the 1:6th range of items from The Hobbit, but I am very curious to see if this smaller piece range will be similar in nature to the mini pieces they're doing for The Lord of the Rings.

Arwen should be pretty cool. I'll order it to go with the others. Also, I'm glad to see Gollum and The Fellowship set 2 coming fairly soon and then getting 3 on order. One thing Tim said that I'm really hoping is fans can pass on some ideas for art prints. I want to see the coronation of Elessar, maybe aragorn/group charging the black gates, Gandalf vs The Balrog all of those from The Lord of the Rings of course. From The Hobbit I'd like to see something from Goblin Town and something to do with the three trolls for sure. If they're going to do a cool just shot of an area I'd like to see Dale or Erebor.

I'm going to wait until all three sets are out and see if any money can be saved by getting them all at once. It's a buy for me Either way though.

That's not a bad idea. I've already got set one and have number two on order. So as soon as three goes up I'll snag it.

Just got my Balin and Dwalin statues. They look great but man are these WAYYY overpriced. I bought both on discount and used 80 dollars in points so that I paid 318 for the pair shipped and still feel like this is just an ok deal. Part of my issue is that I have no space and stick all new things on top of the TV cabinet where I currently have the Mola Ram and TOD Indiana Jones PFs, both of which I paid about the same for as these Weta pieces which are dwarfed (har, har) by the PFs. So yes they look great but I am already considering just cutting bait with this line because its too expensive for what you get. I should have grabbed a Gandalf when I had the chance as I do prefer the look of these Weta pieces to the maquettes (which I have now decided I am selling - wraith, boromir, gimli - all exclusives).

I 1000% agree with you thus the reason I have not bought a single statue from WETA and will not until they come to earth with the prices! Sculpt and paint are good but that does not reason for the HUGE price tag for such small statues! :gah:

I wish they were L/E of 500

I don't think they're overpriced. If these guys had the great elaborate bases the SS statues come with they'd be the same size. Its the base that makes all the difference in size.

If they had Low ES like Sideshow I would 100% agree

That is an issue for a lot of folks. I do think you will see a decent percentage of the line be ES pieces the further we go into the line.

The lesser characters yes I see ES...Smaug?...if there is ES it will be 1000 or more IMHO and expensive depending on size...like Barad-dur perhaps...Would love to see Weta add a flex pay!

I think Smaug will either have an ES like Barad-dur or be an open ES because he's going to be so popular. A FP option would be nice.

Indeed VERY expensive and at 1K seeing that Barad-Dur is STILL available shows people this OVERPRICED thing is EXPENSIVE!

WETA need to get with the times and indeed put a flex pay or stuff like the OVER priced Dur will be hanging out a lot longer.

COME ON WETA, GET WITH THE TIMES!

BIG prices on small statues just does not cut it!

Josh I will take a pic of my setup at home tonight and post it here. That retail for Dwalin is CLOSE to the 1:6 dewback is a joke. These pieces are tiny, fancy bases or not. It doesn't help that they are dwarves. Like I said I paid 158 apiece for these total (and that doesn't include the 30 dollars in points I earned from the purchase). I still feel like this is an OK price for what you get. But the experience of opening a tiny box, pulling out the base, and plopping good ol' Balin right on the base with no futzing, no accessories to finagle, nothing - and then standing him in front of Mola Ram which I paid about the same amount of money for - well that isn't a feeling of great value. That anyone thinks 250 for one of these dwarves is a fair price is insane to me. We clearly have too much money floating around in the economy if that's the case. I would love to see a side:by:side with the old SSW Gimli to convince myself the sculpt, paint and overall quality has improved in 10 years. Dwalin vs Mythos Fett (shakes heads).

The Dewback is a steal I think for its size. Its a great piece. They are smaller characters because they're Dwarves but they're the same size as the SS Gimli statue. Its the base like I said I think that makes the difference. The quality has improved a ton I think from the SSW days to the current SS or Weta lines. As I've been saying for a long time now this is the current price market. You either buy or you don't.

:goodpost: :exactly:

Yeah because PFs are dolls, oh and Sideshow's statues with switch out weapons are dolls. But you are right dolls are plastic - oh that's right so are parts of these dwarves like their weapons. So this is a 250 dollar action figure in my book :)

Ok, lousy smart phone pic in awful lighting but tell me the base is the only difference between Mola Ram and Balin ;)
