When you ask about when it has happened all you have to do is look at England and Australia. There were many gun owners in these countries that have had to voluntarily hand over firearms or be considered criminals. Violent crime rates in both countries have gone up though in spite of it. As far as banning in the U.S goes it could and would be done if the Govt. thought it could get away with it. There are groups that their main goal is to ban them, all they need is a Govt' that is open to persue it. They probably could not ban them outright but have such draconian laws that it would be very difficult to have them. Not turning this political but I think it was Obama who didn't want a gun sales within 10 square miles of a school. Problem is that would eliminate a lot of gun stores in the U.S. As I have stated. It's not a question of feeling safe, it's a question of I would rather have a firearm and never need it then to need one and not have it. I'm glad you understand where I am coming from. Gun ownership is not for everyone. I'm just glad I have the option.Random thought. I know a lot of people are afraid of the government taking their guns away. With all due respect, when has that ever even been considered? Most of the time it is ridiculous paranoia resulting from some kind of new legislation to make guns harder to obtain, so some random joe blow can't just go to a store and pick one up. Do you really think your guns will be taken away by force? It seems outlandish. Also, do you need a gun to feel safe? I personally would find it hard for me to feel safe with a gun in my home, but then again I understand where you are coming from. I don't mean to direct this question to you directly, but you are clearly a proud gun owner so I thought I'd ask.
