Physics fascinates me as well, but I'm not smart for it. Most of it flies over my head. :lol

Toward the end of my last class, I started sort of falling asleep in class. I knew I didn't want to be a teacher and didn't have the drive to be a rocket scientist (so to speak). However, "Rocket Scientist" would look totally awesome on your resume.

A kid we grew up with actually works at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena.

Started 'The Dark Tower' series. So far I've gotten through 'The Gunslinger' and 1/2 way through 'The Drawing of the three'. Interesting so far, but I'm finding it a little difficult classifying it as 'fantasy'.

Also, am about 60% through 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' and re-reading the entire 'Song of Fire and Ice' series by George R.R. Martin in anticipation of book 5's release in July.

I really didn't get all the hype about Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I bought the second one in the trilogy, but I'm not thrilled about reading it.

I just got, and started reading, this:

Frankenstein is a great book. I had nightmares after reading it. It's not scary per se, but very psychological imo.

I'm reading The Barbary Pirates by William Dietrich. It's basically fantastical historical fiction. Imagine Indiana Jones set in the early 1800's.

I take it the book was pretty good since you are reading the next book? I just added both to my "To Be Read" list. I thought it sounded like a lame idea at first, but when I read the description it sounded pretty good.

Yeah I really liked it. Kind of like a Jason Bourne/ Buffy crossover. I read the sample chapters of both before buying them in iBooks. The second one is starting to get good, and I'm starting to like it more than the first. The author is supposedly wrapping up on the third book. :hi5:

Maybe. The second book was just released in April so I'm not sure how far along the author is, but in an interview he did for the second book he did say he was already working on it while waiting for the second one to get published.

I read another review last night that described the character as Jack Bauer with fangs. I thought it was better than my comparison to Jason Bourne.

I'm way backed up on my reading list, it could well be a year before I get to the second book.

How are those girl with the tattoo books?

I started the first one and couldn't get into it. I don't think I dug the goth chic character at all.

Just started rereading this again...already makes me want to head back to New Orleans. Wife and I went there 11 years ago this Oct for our honeymoon..need to go back. Though it's not going to be the same. :(

Nice. I read that at least once a year (sometimes twice) as I usually teach this one to my 12's.

Right now I've cracked open Martin's A Game of Thrones after having watched (and loved) the HBO season. I'll plow through the four books in the next week. Yeah summer!!!

Funny that you said that because I was just eyeballing the first one on my iPad.

~~Just finished The President's Vampire Book 2 in the Nathaniel Cade series. Very good book, and I'm distressed on which book I like more. Both are great so I'll just settle for that.

Some of the books I have read this year...so far.
