I just got, and started reading, this:

5860684520_abb6d5f265_b.jpg

I read that when I was a teenager and also a couple of years ago. I have always loved it. Very different from what people usually think of . :)

Too bad I read it in spanish though. I will have to get me an english version some day :yess:

Neuromancer by William Gibson. I'm still on chapter 7, but so far it's been a very nice read.

How are those girl with the tattoo books?

The first one was okay. It takes a bit to get into because there is alot of dry backstory to set things up. Honestly alot of that could have been cut altogether, or at least told after the action picks up. I got the second book after reading the first one, but I've come to realize I have very little interest in reading it. I'm not sure what all the hype was about.

The first book was a big hit and then by the time the second or third book came out the author had died and that made them even bigger.

Only about a 1/4 of the way through and so far I love it. He is such a witty and funny writer.

I have a stack of about a dozen books I want to read this summer.....I'm going to be busy. :)

The great war for civilisation The conquest for the middle east by Robert Fisk.....200 pages in only another 1200 to go LOL.

Frankenstein is a great book. I had nightmares after reading it. It's not scary per se, but very psychological imo.

:rock Still one of my all time favorite books.

Nice. I read that at least once a year (sometimes twice) as I usually teach this one to my 12's.

It is a great book indeed! I'm about 3/4 through it and it is very different than you'd expect given the whole thing that Frankenstein and his monster have become through films.
The book is vastly superiour! It really makes you think, especially about the nature and motives of the monster. Really good!

I do, however, find it a bit difficult to read at times. English is not my first language and sometimes I have to read a senctence more than once to fully understand it.

Overall I'm loving this book, though! Absolutely great! :clap

I hope to finish it today or tomorrow! :)

:rock I remember reading it for the first time in Junior High School, and I thought it was going to be a dumb monster book or something. At that time the only thing I knew about Frankenstein was from the monster movies. I ended up reading it in less than a week, and read it again later that year when the family went on a road trip.

~~I decided against starting Game of Thrones and went with with Rogue Warrior: Red Cell by Richard Marcinko (spelling?). I've read a couple books from his series, and it's interesting to see how far things in the military have changed since the days he was in to the days I was in, and to what we have now. :slap

It's the same for me! I just finished it and it's totally different than the Frankenstein monstermovies that I've seen.

I must say that while the book doesn't really come across as scary while reading it, there is certainly some feeling of haunting or something that works very well. Like the ever-existing threat of the Monster and such.

Definitely a great book! Glad I decided to pick it up! :rock :)

I just started Jeffrey Deaver's Bond Book, Carte Blanche. It's interesting because it is pretty much a reboot with Bond as a veteran of Afghanistan. There are alot of references to the previous books though and one of my favorite inside jokes, "Bond decided on a cocktail. 'Crown Royal, on ice, a double please. Add a half measure of triple sec, two dashes of bitters and a twist of orange peel.'" He also references that the drink doesn't have a name yet because he is looking for the right one.

Yeah...I finished 'Girl With a Dragon Tattoo' a few weeks ago and frankly...I don't get the hype. It was nothing special...at all. I got to the end and just had to shrug (never mind how predictable the book became in the last 100 pages or so). Oh well.

Still trudging through my re-read of 'Clash of Kings' and getting through 'The Drawing of the Three' as well.

I keep eyeballing that in the bookstore. Is it worth $12 in your opinion?

I'd definitely pay 12 bucks for it. It has its flaws and it has some things that are pretty cool. Overall its an interesting take and as a big Bond fan I enjoy new stories featuring him.

Just finished A Walk In The Woods. Very well written and entertaining read of Bryson's hike along the Appalachian Trail. Some historical facts thrown in as well as humorous adventures he has along the way. A good read!

Now I'm starting another of his books -

This one is an account of his hiking travels through Australia.

A few people have told me that I would enjoy -The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.
Is this a good read?

Just finished reading Clash of Kings. About halfway through The Stand right now. Then on to the rest of the Song of Ice and Fire series. After that I plan on finally reading The Dark Tower series.
