What do you want from the next generation of consoles?

"Pathetic", "outdated", "horrible" terms in reference to the PS3 will have somone coming back saying it about the 360 and then a response to that with gifs and fanboy comments and it'll all go down hill from there.

So you were telling the future? Anyways, by today's standards, his descriptions were accurate and I don't think it's wrong to say that outdated systems are outdated. The 360 is no less out of date and we all know that. You started this thread for the propose of discussing current and next gen consoles, no?

Well it wasn't diffuclt to predict what would happen in the Indy thread if the figure relased without improvements.

I did start the thread for discussing what was best for the next generation, but i did state "This isn't a discussion for one brand but general advances for the tech and market"

I think they are starting to get outdated "The PS3 and 360 are approaching their last year or two" as in things are getting too advanced for both brands to handle as time goes by. Not that they are pathetic, horrible or stone age at the moment, just becoming outdated.

There are signs on both platforms of the hardware falling behind the software advances, and discussions have been popping up more and more recently on the internet on the development of future consoles, so the consoles aren't obselete yet, which is the impression i got from the end of Octo's post.

These consoles are very outdated. It's just the speed of tech these days. They were becoming outdated by the time they were launched and now...yeah. No right or wrong there.just how things go with technology. I think Octo was also saying that these consoles were insufficient out the gate because they skimped on things like RAM. It's relevant to the discussion.

I can't stand fanboys so I don't want it to devolve into that either, but those things tend to just happen whether you're policing or not. I think you should at least wait until someone actually does something wrong before trying to mod things though.

I agree with snappahead. ALL the current consoles are outdated, even by 2008 standards. What baffles me is that Nintendo is going with the new Wii system, and it's just barely going to be pushing more than what's already out with the competition.

~~I hope MS can figure what they're going to do with the optical media drive. I'm guessing that it will have something similar what Nintendo is doing, and just avoid the Blu Ray license by developing their own media (possibly not much different than the old HD DVDs).

A: Simple...a quality launch lineup. You shouldn't have to wait for a year after the console drops for triple A titles.

Sony have said the ps4 is in development but not even at its half way stage. Microsoft was rumoured to have some kind of hardware running behind closed doors at E3 and that they would be showcasing E3 2012. Also taking into consideration how the pirates is ever increasing and the tarnished reputation of Sony with the hacking scandals, I wouldnt be at all surprised if we see something late 2012/13.
The consoles especially the 360 is dated and pretty much on its knee's.
There are rumours of Apple coming into the console market which would be very interesting.

Im guessing 2013/2014 before MS and/or Sony ship the next console. I hope Apple sticks with the mobile gaming. Their last attempt didn't fair well at all, and there's already too many sharks in the water.

I can honestly say that mobile gaming or touch-gaming at least sucks, for me personally, small fun min-games like Cut The Rope and Amateur Sirgeon are cool, but games intended to have charcters that move generally suck, touch control just dont work for console-type games.

I'm hoping it doesnt catch on to a full medium.

Anyone seen the PlayStation Vita?
It looks like it has potential. What are you thoughts?

That is my biggest gripe with the DS. I'm all for touch controls for certain games but not when I'm trying to play Zelda and have to use the touch screen to move around.

I'm optimistic for it, looks to be good, not a day one for me, i'll wait for reviews and defects to be known and fixed.

i loved the Phantom Hourgalss, i though that controlled great, but with a finger it would've been terrible.

And dude, dkn't just stand there Take off You Pants and Jacket!

Gaming on the phone is great......on the crapper. My bowling game is 'precious' to me during my times of bladder struggle. Not saying I'd trade it in to replace Gears3 though

This is a good question.

I want ____ing amazing graphics. Remember this?

but i want it with easier development.

This way we'll get more quality games in shorter time and more experimentation!!!

^MGS 4 was nothing like that TGS trailer, unfortunately. KojiPro was experimenting with getting an optional FPS mode into the gameplay, but they didn't get it right. In the game's actual FPS mode, Snake couldn't run, couldn't jump, and couldn't do any sort of cool finishing CQC moves.

MGS 4 was the biggest release in the franchise, but also the biggest let-down in the technical capabilities that it was promising at TGS and E3. I fully understand when Kojima he said that he'd personally rate the game a 1/10, because there was so much he wanted to do, but couldn't. I hope that he'll be able to achieve what he wants, with a new console!
