What film would you reboot?

I can't fathom how or why the 1987 Robocop would not still be as watchable to a teen or twentysomething now as it was when it came out.

I guess I can see how a teenager today my think "what the hell is this" when watching the opening with the ad for the plastic heart and the wacky news footage. Hell that's kind of what we thought in '87. But if they can just stick it out to that first OCP boardroom scene I don't see how any kid wouldn't be sucked in from that point on.

Didn't murphy get killed before the boardroom scene? The action sequence and Murph death should be enough to get kids interested, although I still can't watch Murphy's death scene, not since I first saw the film. That was the last time and it traumatized me :lol And then they made a cartoon for kids based on that film...ahh..the 80's...and 90's :lol

What is really surprising is the fact that Robocop (2014) made more money than the original trilogy combined. I think that pretty much answers the question as to why studios like to make reboots :lol

Off-topic:

Teenagers today are douchy assclowns who think that if something is older than them it's not worth their precious time.
Then again teenagers never had their own taste. Not even back there. That's why today it's easier to feed them with crap.

On-topic:

Dungeon & Dragons (FotR style)
Conan the Barbarian (something artistic and philosophical)
Beowulf (dunno)

Mortal Kombat (but not today, not when Boon is so happy with crappy new games)
Prince of Persia (no "Sands")
Silent Hill (just do it right, please)

A "The Shadow" film where The Shadow doesn't run around for 95% of the film without his Shadow outfit and a closer to the book retelling of Christine.

Buck Rogers TV show
Logan's Run
Punisher

Seriously though, Man of Steel and Transformers. Also, Fantastic Four.

You're in luck, there's one coming this very year :)

Flash Gordon

Emperor Ming : Ben Kingsley or unexpected cast like Hugo Weaving / Christoph waltz
Flash Gordon : Chris Evans / Tom hardy
Dale Arden : no Scarjo please, maybe Eva Green

Would love a Flash Gordan Reboot

Give this man a medal. :duff

Flash Gordon
Buck Rogers
Tarzan
The Shadow
The Phantom
etc, etc, etc.

I don't particularly dislike the original takes on these pulp adventure heroes, but these characters are worth revisiting every few decades. I wouldn't mind franchises built out of them.

And Spawn needs to be rebooted. The original movie sucked. The HBO series started out great but then ends with a big unresolved WTF cliffhanger.

I had just got into thinking about how many bloody reboots keep occurring, and it's a pity because some of those films should never be touched.

But then I got thinking, there are a few films I would love to see rebooted, either due to time and age, or for any other reason.

So my question is, if you could pick a film to reboot, what would you choose, and who would you rather cast instead?

One film for me at the moment would be: Silence of the Lamb.

I really like watching Hannibal, and I think it would be cool to have Mads Mikkelsen try the locked-up Lecter.

So I'd say:

Hannibal Lecter - Mads Mikkelsen
Jack Crawford - Kevin Bacon
Clarice Starling - Rosamund Pike
Frederick Chilton - Tom Cavanagh
Buffalo Bill - Manu Bennet

Give him a break guys, he's not talking about remaking the 1991 classic "Silence of the Lambs." He's talking about the much maligned prequel where only one lamb needed to be silenced.

2001: A Space Odyssey.

That's right, I went there. Kubrick's film may be the single greatest science-fiction movie ever made (for me it's between that, Solyaris, Stalker, Robocop and Blade Runner), but there's four novels in the series - all excellent. I would love to see a talented writer and a talented director take a swing at ironing out the inconsistencies between the novels and planning a long game of four consecutive movies telling the whole story.

Odyssey Three and Final Odyssey would probably make people spontaneously combust in the theatre.
